No notes, but remember enjoying ... crisp and deep color, decent nose, and medium to big fruit that lasted well through the finish. Definitely a future buy.

Always a favorite, the sweet, dark fruits are well integrated with a real fullness in the mouth and distinct peppery spice. And then the rustic tannins kick in -- yum!

My antipathy towards grenache is confirmed once again, as this wine is either 100% or near enough to qualify. Let me stress that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the wine and it strikes me as being well made and even moderate in its 13.5% alcohol. What bothers me? I think I'm just genetically encoded not to like grenache and all its manifestations. The nose has a sour quality, blended with red fruits, spice, pepper and maybe some anise. None of this would be otherwise objectionable, but for me, it's like slamming into an olfactory wall. On the palate there are initial burst of nice red berry fruit, but then it becomes a jumble of competing impressions that don't taste integrated to me, almost like too much of the wine is revealed too quickly and then there's a harsh finish, but that probably doesn't make any sense. I do not like this, Sam I Am.

Pop, pour, and 15 min air at 68 deg F. Needs a bit of air time to open up and has an in-balance, fruity, sour, and tannic grip in the mouth. Dark cloudy color. Almost attractive nose of slightly sour plum-berry, hints of dried floral, chocolate-anise, and some slight cooling sweet spice i.e. like a pinot. In the mouth attacks with sourish ripe red and dark fruit (dark plum, black currant, maybe cherry), just slightly watery, and in balance with some drying tannin and hints of dried herbs or leaves and earth but not much spice evident. Sourness seems borderline high as if the bottle is not aging well, based on this I will open the others soon. Transitions to a finish of dusty oaky fruit. 13.5%. Dry. Body medium, acid medium plus, tannin medium or higher. This wine was really good in late 2008.

Big and jammy with a wonderful, if restrained, rusticity. One the nose, clean black fruit. On the palate, jammy with savory spice notes. Deep dark color that's opaque to the edges. Medium finish appropriate to the QPR. Nice. I like a lot.

Opened for a family member and tasted briefly. Somewhat cloudy translucent garnet in the glass. Roasted herbs and red fruit on the palate. Medium-full bodied with more tangy red fruit and a slight salinity in the finish. Okay.

Dark dried fruit, sour cherries, clove, anise, pepper, soft oak. Nice acid and overall balance. Not a delicious wine, per se, but the balance and combination of flavors and generous finish make this wine very enjoyable in an interesting kind of way.

Didn't enjoy this as some earlier bottles. Roasted red fruit some earth and herbs. Medium-full bodied. Okay, just not living up to my taste memory of this wine being richer and less rustic.

Cork on this showed seepage half way up. Heat? Translucent dark garnet tinged with a touch of brown. Stinky nose like blue cheese. medium full bodied lacking palate fruit. Gonna called this one cooked and move on. Hopefully return.

Muted nose suggestive of berries and tobacco. Despite decanting, I found this wine a bit closed. Flavor dominated by black fruit and graphite, and while pleasing, it was all far too restrained.

This is a great value wine. Roasted roasted hot climate grenache with great notes of provencal spices, especially rosemary and lavendar, and a hint of olives. Slightly elevated alcolhol level held the fruit together well. Grounded in a great earthiness. This is better than many Chateauneufs, and while not as weighty, was a great pairing with an 03 Ch. St Jean Comb de Fous. None of the pepperiness or grapiness you often find with grenaches and CDRs at lower price points. Simply put, this is a stunning value.

Very good, ripe, Grenache-like wine (don't know if it's a Grenache blend, but I'm guessin' it is). Strawberry & pepper flavors with a sweet 'n tannic contrast. Good, juicy acidity. The oak, while not at all heavy or overdone, adds its own flavor that seems a little inconsistent with the rest of the wine. But for a $13-ish wine, this is terrific stuff, no doubt...

Opened and served immediately. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Light and nibble nose or black berries and freshly cut flowers. Flavors of berries with a base of minerals. Bright acidity, medium tannins and body. Drink over the next few years.

On the third day since the bottle was opened, the wine is holding up well--a bit simpler and softer, but still showing as a really good wine. Sweet fruit on the nose. Dark red in color, the wine seems warm, like a good winter red. Definite raspberry and jamminess with tannins that are a bit rustic still. Good thing I have 3 more bottles since I expect this wine will be even better next winter.

We enjoyed it with a thin French pizza. Deep color, good taste. Grenache is known as Cannonau in Sardinia and for 100% Cannonau it was well balanced and good flavor. Would buy again $14. Need to keep am eye out for more wines from Sardinia.

Interesting nose, with dark fruit, tobacco and hints of Slim Jims. Delicious, ripe dark fruit flavors (lots of blackberries), with some licorice and spice. Crunchy tannins and a long finish. Delicious. Cannonau = grenache.

Interesting aspects to this wine that add complexity - dark fruits, some spice - but not well integrated, as if each flavor stands on its own. But tasty and drinkable.

Decanted for about an hour while making dinner. Sweet dark fruits on the nose, with a nice spicy note. Ripe fruit on the palate, with an elegant mouth feel and easy tannins. Not you’re typical high acid Italian here. Somewhat simple, but a pleasant drink for the money.
