Awesome acid, tannin, and fruit. Lots of all three, in great proportion. This wine still has a lot of great life left in it. Very ripe but not annoyingly sweet red and blue fruit flavors, with an immediate bite of acid to wake up your mouth. Finish develops in complex and changing ways and goes on and on and one. Decent tannin and alcohol are evident on the end, but not offensively so. I'm changing my drink by, this wine has some life left on it.
Started kind of closed down which was surprising but started to open after about an hour. Well integrated but initially low on fruit. Fruit came out later, but still seemed a bit low compared to other examples of this wine. I suspect a bit of bottle variance here.
I'm surprised to see such a low community score. This wine is still showing why it rebuilt my opinion of Merlot and why I buy lots of Peter's ever since. A strong but not offensive tannin structure with great fruit notes and wonderful finish make me glad I still have a few of these left.
Awesome merlot. Rich, earthy, robust and definately not tame. This wine was offered up by those nice folks at Avalon Wines in Corvallis, OR. Terrific structure and complexity. Morphed into another wine while in the glass. Too many nuances to pick out 3 days later. I'll buy again.
Baking spices, cherry and cranberry on the nose. The mouth feel was smooth chocolate covered berries with lavender & mocha-spice. This offered ample complexity. After an hour the wine opened up to show prominent fruit & cassis, vegetal notes with a lengthy smooth finsh.
