Smooth,a little zest and a clean finish. It has good balance and has aged well. I cannot see it improving 12 years from the vintage date, drink and enjoy.

Bright with pale lively colour with no major sign of aging. Nose of vanilla and lemons. Nice clean mouthfeel with good intensity, medium bodied, fresh with nice chalkiness, rich in flavour but with lively acidity. Pear drops and lime follow through on the fininsh, which has a touch of heat. Definitely ready to go and may last for a few years yet but not sure of any improvement.

Immediate impact of lemon oil and rosemary oil - okay, oil - big, commanding, but not out of balance. The soil and acid you expect from the site are still in charge, overtaken but not truncated by the blatting breadth of the vintage. Delicious and satisfying. We drained the bottle to the last drop.

2005 Chandon de Briailles Burgundies (Vineyardgate, Millbrae, CA): (Blanc) White fruits, ginger and spice on the nose. Lively palate with fresh green apple, spice, crisp acidity, and some midpalate oiliness, perhaps from oak. Nothing extracted or oaky about the wine though. Very fresh and delicious, my only complaint is a touch of spirity heat.

At this moment still quite locked. There is elegance and soft acidity. Give it another 3 years or so, so it can open up. 89+

Vineyard Gate: Chandon de Briailles' Pure 2005 Burgundies (Millbrae, CA): Some citrus, stone and a hint of smoke on the nose. Classic and crisp in the mouth with mineral on the finish. Nice acid backbone and finish. Needs just a couple years to unwind. From 2010.
