Fantastic nose and great on the palate. However i thought this wine lacked a tiny bit on the finish, which seemed a little short. I would drink these wines in the next few years

Drank over two nights, with and without food. Very dark ruby color. The nose seemed a little subdued on both nights, not showing much interest. On the first night I paired it with Cassoulet and it was big and had dark smoky fruit, but it lacked any traction, it was very soft and round. On the second night I paired it with a veggie soup and it was benign. There's concentration and density, but the flavor profile was rather simple - lacking complexity. The finish was full but simple. On both nights it was good but not great - clean, fresh fruit but lacked razzmatazz.

Still young and subdued nose, with hints of cherry and rip red fruits. The mouth has a nice firm grip, a little chalky minerality. Quite good, just needs more cellar time.

"Simple" Midweek Dinner (Chinese New Year Edition) (La Bracceria, Greendale Avenue): I thought this showed better than when I tried it at the cellar about 7-8 months back. The bottle had already been opened for a for a few hours when we got to it, but it was still tough as door nails. Really tight nose, just little bits of cherry, sweet kirsch, mint and dark flowers peeking out amongst dried earth and mineral notes. Palate obviously had fine structure and balance, but was again really, really tight, with the underlying structure dominant, and bits of plums, cherry, spice and earth mingling about. Fine tannins asserted themselves again in the mid-lengthed finish. There is obviously some depth and concentration here though. I think this will age very well, and suspect that it will be a very good wine in about a decade. At the moment, just about enough to give pleasure, especially when paired with food. But I would wait with this wine.

2006 Southern Rhone horizontal tasting - CDP (Crystal Wines): Alcohol : 15% Tasted Blind. Aromas of soft leather, game, mineral, cherry liquor, hint of floral with a whiff of alcohol. Tight on the palate show peppery, game. Good grip. There is sign of greenish and hard edge with bitter mineral finish. Some heats. So so. Buy - No.

Trip to the Southern Rhone; 6/11/2009-6/12/2009 (Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and the Dentelles du Montmirail): Again, a good wine, but really not that impressive when considered in the context of the vintage, where house after house produced fantastic CdPs. Very good on the nose. Deep red and purple fruits, raw meat, dark berries, all with a lovely lushness to it. There was a nice touch of pure fruit on the palate, with loads of peppery spice. Plenty of toughness for a 2006 though - with firm tannins and prickly acidity shaping the mouthfeel. I really liked the finish. Nice complexity here, unfolding clean, focused fruit flavours with stoney minerality wrapped in more fresh acidity and mouth-coating tannins.

Trip to France; 10/13/2008-10/24/2008 (Burgundy, Rhone Valley (Chateauneuf-du-Pape), Paris): Continues the candied cherry nose of "Les Olivets" but more sublte and closed, with more prominent earth, mushroom, and gamey character. Firm fine tannins in a fruit driven palate, but remains in balance, with medium length finish adding some smoke and tar. More muscular and tannic than "Les Olivets" built more for aging and less assessable now, but has great potential.

PnP, did not decant. Still solid. Drank over the course of 2 hours and held steady, if slightly fading at the end. Drink now/soon.

Classic and drinking beautifully now with cherry liqueur and soft herbal notes along with chalky minerality on the finish. Excellent.

Nicely integrated cdp with smooth soft tannin. Dark stone fruit and cherry some tobacco.
Did not wow, but still agreeable

Average nose of red fruit and licorice... in the mounth, some cherries, tannins a bit present, lacking some fruit, a bit dry finish...
