This held up much better than I predicted. Fairly sweet, dusty and a touch herbal this has a good supporting acidity and the alcohol is well integrated. I would drink it up though.

Still deep ruby, still a big rich wine. Plenty cherry liqueur and sweet red plum. Bit of warm spices. Decent acidity. Just a bit too high in alcohol and feel it is tiring a bit too. Drink up.

Pure red grenache fruit, a syrupy texture, alcohol overtones. I'm sure at some point in time this wine was intensely delicious, and probably the fruit balanced the alcohol, but that was not this day. The huge rating this wine has is definitely trading on the memory of another time.

Spicy ripe plums and blue berries with smoked clove and cedar. Powerful and complex nose. Palate is equally spicy and fruity, almost in your face presentation. The mid-palate is raw power and hot. Every elements are competing for attention. Need at least 2 hours for the palate to settle down with a more balanced mid-palate and finish. Drink it in 3 years’ time if you want a more relaxed wine.
Retasted in Feb 2020. More spicy and earthy bouquet than before. The blue berries fruits receded to the background. Still powerful and plummy from entry to finish. Somewhat hot in the finish. Some may find it simple and one dimensional in the mid-palate. No change in score.

Last bottle, this came across better than the previous I drank, with the spice more in line with the rest of what was there to sample in terms of the fruit.

See previous notes, essentially the same though I did not enjoy quite as much as I have in the past. My taste in wine is moving from the larger, overwhelming styles to a little more subtlety.

Two hours of decant time on this bottle, this walked in the steps of my previous experience from almost exactly a year ago, with a little more depth and complexity coming into play with the additional aging. Two more bottles to go, I will make this a January outing in 2017 and 2018 to keep up the tradition.

Deceptive nose and full of fruit like you would expect from a Grenache. Strawberry and blueberry fruit on the front and just an enjoyable drinking wine.

Big, fruity, jammy and spice Aussie grenache. Loads of dark fruit, ripe plum, prune and crushed black cherry. There's some nice spicey white pepper, a hint of vanilla, fairly resolved but still noticeable tannins, medium acidity and a long finish. There's plenty going on here but with an overall balance that has this drinking very well now and should hold for quite a while longer.

Magnificent Grenache. Huge mouthing coating texture. Lovely mature dark fruit and a terrific peppery very long finish. A truly memorable and special occasion wine. Awesome value for the price. Great to think I have 13 remaining!

Drank over a three hour period, filled with dark cherries, raspberry and developed a peppery ambiance near the end of the evening. Medium bodied with slightly grippy tannins, a classic Clarendon Hills Grenache, enjoyed it as much as the 2004 that also came from the Blewitt Springs vineyard.

Writing partially from memory. Colour was a nice hue of dark purple. Lots of legs. Nose of raspberries and plum with nuances of meatiness and cherries lingering in the background. Palate was very big and full. Sweet raspberries, cherries and other red berries i've forgotten making appearances whilst all wrapped up in rounded acidity and smooth, unobtrusive tannins. A very good and balanced wine. Drink now and chill it slightly. The very maximum should be at 21°C or else the wine will be slightly dominated by heat/alcohol.

Slow o'd for 1 hour and enjoyed over 3 hours. It was darn good upon opening but only got better from there.
No flamboyant raspberry or kirsch notes for me, like other vintages and this wine showed more like a Rhone than one from Oz. Rich notes of plum, pepper, meat with hints of raspberry at times that followed suit on that plush and round palate.
I really liked this wine and of the 7 vintages I've had of this wine, this was one of the best bottles I've enjoyed.

Amazing intensity of fruit. Touch of browning to rim. Tons of raspberry cordial. Redcurrants. Cured meats. Fine rounded tannins, decent acidity. Not for casual drinking, a big powerful wine. Would like to try again as a BBQ wine. Decanted about an hour.

5 Years Tasting (The same wines now and in 5 years) - Rhone Valley Grapes (Marc Schöni's House): Burnt rubber, dried meat, beef tartar: what a fantastically exotic nose! It goes on with fresh red cherries and amarena cherries and fruit in rum. Very long finish but still needs a lot of time to open up
