Opened and poured. Medium body at open, there's some freshness and flowers amidst the fruit. With air, this is pretty light and lively - with some sweet fruit. Strawberry, sassafras, raspberry and cinnamon on the nose, showing a lively backend with an acidic ray through the attack and middle. Enjoyable.

Still drinking very well. Floral and vanilla nose. Mainly red fruit with raspberry and cherry cola. In balance and smooth relatively long finish. I think it is peaking and will be find for a while but would drink up relatively soon.

Enjoyed this wine for Easter dinner along side a spring risotto and braised pork loin. Initially the nose showed oak induced sweet notes of vanilla but with time the wine opened up and really started to show it's stuff. Perfumed wild berries and sweet herbs on the nose with a wonderfully mouth coating palate of macerated cherries.

The wine is clear and translucent colored garnet. The aromatics are floral, perfumed, raspberry, earthy mushroom, sour cherry, and olive. The tastes are cherry, pepper, red licorice, sweet clove, raspberry, sassafras, cola, and cinnamon. The acidity is zingy and the tannins are like fine satin and there is a nice lengthy, perfumed finish.

Rich ripe dark cherry aromas and flavors with spice notes wrapped in a silky smooth texture and culminating in a long tasty finish. Lacks complexity compared to some other KB bottlings.

Garnet in the glass. This one was opened and left to breathe for about 45 minutes. A deep pinot floral and berry nose when poured. This is a full and rich wine that is drinking very well. Cherry, red berry with a hint of vanilla toffee with a long finish.

Rich Ruby color. Black Cherry aromas. Inviting mouth feel, beautiful tannins, fruit that is forward but restrained - not quite delicate like a Williamette offering - you know this is a Santa Lucia Pinot Noir. Very Good, should age well up to 5 more years imo. If you have the oppurtunity to enjoy this wine, please take it!

Lighter in color that some of the KB pinot's I've had. Lots of cherries and some spice on the nose. Maybe some vanilla too. Palate was very ripe and almost flabby with low acidity and tannins. Definitely a crowd pleaser but not at all my style. Not sure how this will develop w/o the acidity to help with the overripe fruit.

Aromas of soft, cloying red berry, vanilla, baking spice, a little dark earth and a touch of rhubarb and game. A little brighter on the palate, with the spice having less of a sweet edge, and there is a nice woodsiness. Powerful acids on the finish (which seem out of place and tend to pull out the alcohol), a blue fruit accent, woodsy earthiness again. A rather simplistic wine, well made but formulaic, lacking structure and grip.

OC KB and Shane Dinner--With Michael Browne and Shane Finley (The Murray Casa): I didn't seem, per my June TN, to have a full handle on this wine. So in tasting it again last night (it followed the 2007 Garys'), I was not as geeked on it, and I think the Garys' beats it this vintage. As to the wine itself, dark fruit, citrus, some vanilla, plum syrup and open textured but it does not show for me the depth or signature that I found in the 2005. In the end, and with my June TN for context, I will have to see how this wine carries through in time.

Of all the 2007 KB pinots, and we flighted them all, this seemed to have the most acidity. Gamey with blue fruits, tannin and citrus on the finish. My notes are brief here so I want to retaste this wine again later in the summer.

Dinner with Jim Mack & Michael Browne (La Madia, Chicago): Great warm spices, dark cherries, a little Pom juice hint to the nose, some dark wood tones, rich raspberries. Tastes similarly, with great fruit, a focused core of spice & mineral-like structure underneath. Brings in deep red & black fruits as well, with great spice (incl black pepper) on the finish. 93-94

An evening with Michael Browne and Jim Mack (La Madia, Chicago IL): nose: very pungent and balanced nose with great tones of dark red fruits, ripe dark cherry tones, spices, raspberries and some hints of black spices. Great depth and expressive with nice ripe tones
taste: excellent richness with a good medium pinot feel with deep tones of black fruits, dark red fruits, dark red cherries, bits of black spices and some raspberry tones
overall: Very good richness and balance to this with a real nice dark fruit expression. While on the bigger side, its not a massive pinot and it posseses great depth and purity of fruit on the nose and palate

Barrel tasting (neutral oak) from the Rosella's vineyard, a component that will become part of the final blend of the Rosella's Vineyard PN. Dark fruit with citrus notes. Slightly spritzy at this point.

Very good still. Lost a lit of fruit intensity I have come to expect with KB. Still in good balance though. Delicate and balanced.

Popped and Poured. Similar notes as my previous bottle, but this one was ready to go upon opening. Just super tasty juice.

Showing some tannins with tight fruit, a lower acid than some other wines with dark dry concord grape notes. Good.
