Dallas CTers visit NYC offline: The nose on this had distinct notes of green bell pepper and hint of mustiness. On the palate, dark fruited, with some of that greenness that came through on the nose and spicy black pepper. Mature and time to drink up.

This wine was stored since purchased at 68 degrees. It held up wonderfully. Yes, much of the tannin is gone, but, so is that alcohol bite. What was left was a wonderfully smooth, yet, complex wine with berry flavors and smokey overtones. It really pays to store your wine at a consistent temperature. I would not let it go much further, however, as the deep flavor is starting to fade.

I was very pleased with this wine. There was a nice balance on the nose of oak, fruit and heady vapors of flowers and soil. On the tongue there was a dark richness to the tannins and a hint of elderberry, soft Italian leather and licorice somehow carefully blended together. 30 second finish. Bottles that have been stored well will last through 2014 easily, perhaps to 2015. ADDITION: I vacuum sealed and refrigerated for two weeks and drank the last glass on 5/28. It was great. It's the kind of wine you want to drink with an old friend and talk about fun things you did in the past. Really liked this.

N/R. My guess is it's past it's optimal window. The nose was pretty unpleasant. However, the taste was still fairly decent. It wasn't corked and it's been stored well (the same as the rest of the case). Could be a bad bottle, but I'd suggest drink up.

Despite pulling one of these 2 months ago, it was just too good not to drink another. Intense black plum, rhubarb, Zin funk, dusty Draper perfume and spice (perhaps cinnamon). Just a tad hot on the finish, but up to that point it is as smooth as silk and just as seamless. A touch of mocha waves from the finish. This is an intense wine without being big. 14.6% alc. With grilled lamb burgers tapenade. The wine is intense enough that it almost overwhelms the burgers, but still nice. Recommended.

Four years have passed since I pulled this wine. It’s changed a might and settled down from its brambly fruit days. More restrained with an attack of plum and more pronounced rhubarb. The finish speaks more of rose dust than of blackberry, but the mocha element is still there, but not nearly as strong as it was. The color is still somewhat primary. The depth and clarity of the deep red hues always captivate with this wine. With only 2 bottles left, I suspect I’ll wait another while before opening another in hopes of those claret like qualities Ridge Zins develop. 14.6% alc. With duck pizza. Recommended.

- Crimsom color and has flavours of black currant and prune. Round texture - Balanced and somewhat tannic. Would like to try again in a year. Black currant and faint raisin/prune nose and taste. Slightly harsh

Purple with a red tint. Red berries and vanilla with spice and a little violet on the nose. Lavishly mellow black cherry and blueberry mouth filling flavors with a tantalizing sweetness on the back end. The finish is nice and long and a bit of spice emerges midway through it.

not as graphite-filled or dusty as I remember, but still mellow and soothing. Spice notes more pronounced, along with plummy, barely pruney fruit. Lasted easily 3 nights on the counter with a cork in it. A great stand-by Ridge. 87-88

well-liked by the household, this was perfectly serviceable table wine. I noticed hints of pepper, greenery and chaptstick plus some other odd aromas on the nose, though the palate was somewhat deadened. Both tannin and acidity were soft, even gentle. Perhaps it lacked "zin oomphf", but it held its poise in a fashion we expect from Ridge. $19 good buy. $28 would be pushing it. 87-88

Full mouth, dark garnet red, slight pepper and spice. A great Zin. Low acidity, second day just a nice and a little smoother if that was possible. My new favorite Zin. Great wine with a great steak. I am purchasing this by the case today.

Very good improvement over the past year. The nose is more subtle. Outstanding red fruit, some blueberry in the mouth. I'm looking forward to enjoying several more bottles over the next 1-2 yrs.

Rich fruit, berries and spice (allspice). Violet/floral note. Chewy. Much better day 2. Sleek for a higher alcohol wine. Best on its own; I tried it with a few different foods and this delicious wine tasted mostly of hot alcohol and burnt tar.

Allot of vanilla and oak but not much fruit upon opening and not much change over time. Few tannins and spice but just enough pepper on the finish. Felt light on the palate. This drank MUCH different than what I had in store for the tasting that resulted in the purchase. Somewhat disappointed. Having said that, my girlfriend loved it.
WOW! It took a day but what an amazing difference. Cherry, blueberries, dark chocolate allot of oak on the nose. Much stronger legs and deep garnet color. Nice tannins and spice on the palate with ripe dark fruit with a sustained finish of pepper and spice but not overwhelming. Truly amazed at the evolution over two days. Will definitely purchase more.
I did not like 'three valleys' at all and was about to give up on this one but was encouraged by my wine guy to give it try. Glad I did.

Dark ruby core with a brilliant nose of smoke, black pepper, dark spices, roasted plums and ripe raspberry. Juicy and soft on the palate, this also proved to be a solid food wine with good acidity and soft tannins. Will definitely buy again. 14,6% abv, approx $17.

Still a solid performer. I haven't noticed much evolution over the past 7 months, which tells me it probably has a few more years to develop. I'll keep a couple in reserve.

Typical Ridge nose and flavors present. And that's a lot for a wine to have going for it. Fruit a little less ebullient than I expected, though fruit flies in the decanter the next morning seems sated. Some depth and darkness that tells me this may be better in a nother year or two.

Brilliant ruby color. Attractive aromas of sweet dried cherry framed by cinnamon-ginger cookies and pipe smoke. Expansive on the palate with rich plum and dark-chocolate covered cherries. Cedar, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla and black tea round things out. Beautiful juicy acidity, peppery heat, and moderate chalky tannins persist through the long finish. Just gorgeous.

The wine has brilliant clarity for such a deep purple. Excellent grip with some fairly big tannins that will need some time to settle down. Big brambly fruit, with brown sugar, rhubarb, blackberry, mocha and just lip smackingly good fun. The back label may say this is “at its best over the next five years, but I would let it rest the next 3 of those five before opening another. 14.6% alc. No real food pairing and no recommendation since the wine wasn't the focus. Consumed with friends over conversation.
