On the colour, deep ruby, opaque, with a reddish rim. The age is definitely showing with the bricking.
On the nose, this is quite fruit forward with black fruit notes, including blackberries, black cherries, black currants, slight hint of raisins, along with leathery notes, chocolate, peppercorns, cigar box, and forest floor. There is also a hint of menthol. This is quite complex and beautiful.
On the palate, it is also quite black-fruit forward, similar to the nose. There are also notes of leather and mushrooms, and finishes with a spicy note. Medium acidity and silky tannins, medium plus finish.
This is stunningly beautiful and elegant.

3 excellents vins!

Very good. Decanted & let breathe for 30 minutes before enjoying. No signs of fading. Flavors dark berries, cassis, expresso - medium bodied. One bottle left in cellar, Note to self hold for 5-10 years

Still a bit hesitant initially, but then opening to well matured red berries, violet, chocolate, spices, noble cask and leather, adding phenolic "temperature" as you go. Although not Tignanello's best year a nice bottle ready to be enjoyed now and for another 5 years.

This is old. It is still a worthwhile wine, but this vintage didn't have the power to propel it to new heights after 12 years. It has pine and Bret. It has red sour cherries. It has cedar and cigar box. It has high acidity. Having said all that , it paired beautifully with a lamb dish. Cutting through the tender meat and fat. So older, but still with beauty 😍

Not my favorite vintage of Tignanello, perhaps it needed more time to age. Tight tannins showed a little dark fruit with strong earth and mineral tones. Also, a hint of pine tree on the palate. I decanted for 30 minutes. For the next bottle, I'll open 2 hours in advance.

This 2006 confirms being a big, bold but beautiful version of Tignanello.
Opened 2 hours in advance. No initial decanting.
Tasted the wine in Zalto Bordeaux stems
The opening of the nose was full of mature blackberries and red cherry with an undertone of sage and rosemary. More earthy notes emerging during the evening with also some leather.
Good acidity, well evolved, fully integratged trannins. No hint of alcohol which, btw, in spite of being an opulent Tignanello in this vintage is not that high.
Less elegant than the best vintages, more upfront but cxomplex and interesting nontheless.
In my opinion it is in a "drink now" phase as I don't see the evolution giving more to it.
Nice

Tignanello 2006 Opened at 5PM. No decant. First pour at 6:30. Nose explodes with baking spices, led by cinnamon, with overlays of brett , red fruits, menthol and chocolate. On the mid-palate it starts off austere but on the finish it comes together with incredible coordination, flavours of cedar tree and chocolate and a splash of floral notes. Long finish with freshness, balance and minerality. By 8PM after supper (steak) the nose is still blasting, but feels more like 🍒 and leather with balsamic reduction and cooked jam. The palate and finish is ultra smooth, soft, plush, but with proper power that lingers. This wine seems to be in a perfect place. Better than the last 2 times I’ve had it. Not sure it improves but will hold for another 2-3 years. Drink now and enjoy! 95 points given the consistency and pleasure throughout the night.

Absolutely transcendent. Certainly could be mistaken for a Right Bank Bordeaux. No formal notes, but sure wish I had more. If you do, there's no rush to drink It, but I also have a hard time imagining that it could be any better than it already is - it's absolutely fantastic, and this is coming from a guy who is usually flummoxed by Italian wines.

Had a sip from a partial bottle received from my Oenophile neighbor. Dark opaque red in the glass with a slight brownish tinge around the edges. Sangiovese with a small (unspeficied) percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Lovely nose of plum and cherry. Fruity on the palate, with spice and a slight nutty character. Astringent and tannic, resulting in a lingering, tart, yet pleasant finish.

Drunk in May 2022 - already passed his peak. Notes of earth and tobacco but also dust! Overall not a nice experience and definitely not what we would expect from such a great wine. After a month we opened the 2017 and it was way better, dark and reds fruits, good acidity, mid-long finishing in the mouth.

Don’t hold on to it, it’s at its prime, this a stand out vintage. The balance between the notes and the intensity on the pallete is astonishing. Dark chery and chocolate give you the sensation of a gourmet belgian cacao liquor bursting on the first bite. The leather has been toned down and paired with the oak and vanilla give the sensation of a room with antique wooden furniture, a leather couch and a candle burning in the background. The jammy character took me back to my grandmother’s pantry with jars filled with blackberry and strawberry preserves. This bottle for me was a journey through moments I’ve lived through in my past, something that I’ve never experienced from any other wine.

Part of a three vintage Tig dinner. Clean cork. Gentle decant in narrow neck vessel. One hour prior to pouring. Tertiary nose of fig paste, black liquorice, coffee and a bit of mint or rosemary. Silky on the palate, great concentration but quite linear. Medium plus finish. This showed very well and the guest of honour got to take the one-third remainder for near future savouring. Paired with turkey milanese and fettucine alfredo. The white truffle puree in the milanese matched well with the '06.

Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes Winery: Tignanello. Varietal: Cab Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Cab Franc. Area/Appellation: Toscana IGT Vintage: 2006 Price: $159 Anton’s Color: dark ruby some orange tints Legs: slow Nose: blackberry, orange rind, violets, Red cherry, an iron component, dusky, earth, lots of forest floor. Palate: Black currant, blackberry, cherries all woven together with a spicy, dusky, earthy frame, that includes essence of tobacco, leather and clove. Finish: Focused and very well framed. The secondary and tertiary characteristics of the tobacco, leather, intertwine with the black currant, blackberry and the dried red cherry so well. I pulled this out of the Eurocave at the right time Comments: I do know the 2007 Tig scored higher but this has balls and breadth to last, especially if it’s been cellared correctly. Yes, it’s kind of lightening up just a little bit on the finish but the body and the frame are excellent. I feel I could pick this out of a line blind tasting of bottling of Italian Super Tuscans based on the flavor profile. Pairing Suggestions: I’m having just a simple strip steak with this, but can work with a lot of different Italian style dishes preferably rich robust seafoods or complex meat dishes. Score in terms of Vintage: 95 Score for the Wine: 96+ Value for the Money: Excellent 🥈 Date Tasted: 03/19/2022 Tasted by: ACK

Out of the gates it was weak, did not decant. Needs decanting for next time. After 20-30 minutes it’s in a great place and kept getting better. Really juicy and yummy. Drink or hold. Excellent.

Mid crimson, evolution at the edges. Intense nose of forest floor, heme (iron), black cherry, dried herbs, leather, sweet tobacco. Very fine-grained tannins, supple on the palate. Everything is in harmony. I don’t see any reason to wait on this, though there’s no rush. Superb.

Slow ox for one hour. Black currant, red cherry, olives and spices. The wine is exuberant, full bodied, modern and voluptuous. Packed with flavor this is still youthful and will continue to evolve and possibly warrant a higher score.

Magnum decanted for 5 hours - Dark cherry, tobacco, mint, integrated tannins. Evolution of wine post decant while drinking over 2 hours was phenomenal. However, this classic Tignanello has time to evolve and can be magnificent in 5 years.

Dark red w lots of sediment. Nose has cherry syrup, menthol and tobacco. Palate is a little darker and leaning toward tobacco and leather à la Brunello. Tannin is smoothly strong and the acid is bracing. Wonderful.

Absolutely stunning, but sadly this is still way too young. I decanted for 5+ hours and that helped take the edge off. I still have yet to try a tig with serious age on it. I can only imagine how fantastic this wine is at 25 years of bottle age. I'm holding the rest of my vintages for a very long time.

Returned to last 1/3 of original coravined bottle. Had lost a little of the fruit and acid spark but was seamlessly balanced and a delight. Drank like a classy Bordeaux with very good mouth fullness.

Decanted for an hour. Deep dark fruit, cassis with a touch of tomato paste, lovely on the nose. Nice and mature on the palate, very smooth with excellent tannins, fruit in place, elegant and full at the same time, delicious! My first Tig, although I bought this bottle 9 years ago. Excellent stuff and can go on for years, but perfect now as well!

Dark red. This wine is changing quickly, I could write several notes over the course of a long dinner. Here's one: Cough medecine, cherry preserve, a sour oxidative whiff. More than medium body and medium tannin. We enjoyed this bottle, but it was quirky.

My first T and how glorious. Literally rocked me. So so so fresh - felt like 20 years at least still in it. Deep and dark in colour. Full fruited, dark fruited, savoury/spicy (ribbed with complexity) and structured. Just a delight.

Still dense and dark in color with a lot of unresolved tannins. Concentrated black cherry fruit with a nice lifted note on the palate adding freshness and purity. Lengthy finish that shows some oak. Nice wine but best to hold I think. We enjoyed with food and followed over 4hrs in a decanter.

Really enjoyed this bottle. I think a bit more than the Ct average rating of 91.8.
Needed a couple of hours to open up but continued developing with last glass being the best. Rich darkish fruit overtook the thinner redder fruit upon opening. Acid was perfect with grilled lamb chops. Wish I’d finished bottle with some cheese. Would’ve been delish.
Bought these at fire sale upon release for $37. Oh the good times when the wine market was in the dumps.
Hopefully my other bottles have aged like this one. I’ll enjoy my last two over the next decade.
Happy Veterans Day weekend.

One of nine bottle of wine, 1 white and 8 red the 15 of us drank at the holiday spectacular at my club. All the reds except one were opened 6 hours before dinner. Also I tasted all the wines after being opened for two hours as I knew at the end of the night they might all have tasted the same. This is a really nice bottle of Tignanello and in my opinion has entered its prime drinking window. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate is dark fruit, figs, tree bark and has an earthiness that comes through with a touch of spice on the finish.

Getting there, indeed, but not yet fully ready. Good stuffing, fine Tuscan cherries and earth, herbs and spices. Last bottle I had back in 2015 I said wait another 5 years, now, after four and a half, I would extend this even further, perhaps even wait until 2025 for a fully developed wine. Good stuffing and complexity. I like this.

Tignanello always at the top. Maybe 2006 was not a memorable vintage but Tignanello is. Smoky notes at the nose, balanced faded fruit at the palate, underbrush, balanced oak, pencil; tasty and super elegant. Top wine. In its best drinking window for some 3-5 years ahead. Well paired with a scottona Tbone steak with L&L after all these years

Excellent dark brooding superT. Distinctive nose. Some cab fingerprints of tobacco on the back end. Fine but prevalent tannins. Still young. Drank with Pasta and red sauce, bracciole, meatballs, pork and sausage. Not my best pull. Wine is too sophisticated for this simple dish. Next time Veal Chop. Wait 2 years at least.

I've had a lot of Tign that I liked a lot more than this. I did not take notes so I can't say exactly why. I let my wife drink it over three days trying it each day. There was nothing wrong about it just wasn't as good as I expected given the vintage.

Megan's 30th (Chicago, IL): If I had to really guess, I would say that this was just in a bad spot right now, and that this would get better with time. This is showing extreme oak at the moment, and it's actually pretty much the only thing on show. There seems like there can be some nice stuffing in this wine, but it's all closed up and not on display. What is on display, however, is oak. Way too much of it, given how little else is showing. One can but pray that the oak integrates.

Double-decanted 1 hour. Nose is rich and toasty, not overly complex but promising fine flavor. Taste is dark and earthy, mid-palate is full but simple, finish is still a bit rough. Very good with steak tonight but a monolithic wine at this point. I will wait a couple years before trying another-- hoping that tannins soften further and greater evolution can occur.

Wow what a difference five years makes. That was the last time I tried the 06 Tig. In 2011 it just wasn't ready. Tannic, closed down, not showing well at all. Last night we popped and poured along with a Sassacaia 2011. The Tig. Showed so well, so smooth, with fruit, earth and flowers coming through in the big beautiful way. it ready!

After dinner on the patio, impromptu visit from Chris and Stephanie post dinner. Splash decanted, drank over an hour
From prior notes:"Deep purple color. Nose of earth/charcoal, barnyard. Palate is rustic and layered. Black fruits, currants, tobacco. Sangiovese gives it a dark cherry like mid palate. Full bodied, long and nuanced finish. Classic Super Tuscan profile"
Still quite young at 10 years old, color is still a dark/inky black(ish). Tight at first, opened up nicely as we drank it. Would benefit from a better decant than we afforded it - 1+ hours. We drank this with the last of our dinner (lasagna and chicken francese). Would pair this with savory or grilled meats. Excellent wine, long arc ahead of it.

UWS (@ JB): In the bouquet dark forest fruits and luxurious beautifully toasted oak. Same impressions on the palate, beautiful acidity, firm and good tannin with still a good bite, pleasant bitterness and a long finish. Overall a beautiful and concentrated wine in its young maturity stage. Wait until 2022+; it will almost certainly show even more finesse by then. 92 – 93+ for this evening.

A really good and still actually quite young super Tuscan enjoyed with neighbors who are big Italian wines fans while starting to plot out a trip to Tuscany. Briefly decanted and this needs a lot of air right now, would recommend at least a 1-2 hour decant. Also very much agree with the note below about food - especially at this point of maturation this is best paired with big grilled meat. Inky black, big and bold but already well balanced with present but controlled oak & tannins, bit of a harsh mouth feel initially and a long lingering aftertaste. This is probably just now starting to enter a reasonable drinking window, will definitely benefit from an additional 2-3 years and after that will easily cellar for years more. Big intense smokey nose of blueberry, dark plum as well as more vegetal green notes. Very complex and initially a bit harsh and almost sour palate which opened up wonderfully with initial layers of oak, plum, blackberry, more earthy meaty notes as well as mocha / chocolate on the mid and late palate with cigar box ending. Highly recommend this wine and with better handling (more air, more time and a food pairing) would expect an additional 1-2 points - very glad to have 3 more bottles.

Wonderful nose of Bordeaux notes, i.e. green bell pepper, cigar smoke, sandal wood. Also some Sangivese sourness on the nose and to finish off on the bottom of the nasal spectrum is a deep almost "Merlot" blue berry and dark fully mature fruit. The attack is marked by sour cherry and some bitterness, but as soon as the wine enters the mouth the mid palate takes over and there is good sweetness and depth. The finish is still carried by astringency due to the sangiovese tannins and tartness. All in all this is perfect with food now (had it with Entrectote Lyonnaise) but will benefit from another 2-3 years in bottle if drunk alone. But really, Sangiovese and Tuscany wines are meant for food!! Save the grand cru Burgundies and old fully mature Bordeaux for conversation and pondering!

A greater Tig than usual. Taking it's time to open up but then fulfilling nose and dreams.
Nose: In the first hour it's trying to find the balance between the beautiful dark fruits, red and black cherries, and the more earthy notes, spices, thyme and closing on balsamic notes. The Sangiovese is particularly evident in this vintage.
Mouth: velvet touch supported by acidity and fine, though present, tannins. Long persistence.
A special wine with a distinctive personality. The proof that the father of all Super tuscans, in spite of the many bottles produced, is still right up there.
I will remember this night

No detailed notes.....lovely but somewhat shy nose with no decant, reticent but beautifully structured and classy nose of tight blackberries and other Bordeaux influences. Very welcoming and fresh, clean palate in a similar style. Short and tight finish but with well defined and chiseled tannin that is already harmonising.........needs several years for the Sangiovese element to mature and add the lovely Italian brick dust and associated elements that define a mature Tignanello.......but this beat the magnums of 1999 Gruaud Larose and 2001 Ch. Giscours for me this evening. At this stage of maturity it would make a great steak wine.

This one is still an infant. A little tannic when first opening, starts to round out after a few hours open. I would leave it in the cellar another few years or plan to aerate for several hours. Once open, typical Tignanello. Really nice sangiovese.

From 375ml bottle. Popped and drank over 2 hours over dinner at La Barca with wife. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity right from the start, with aromas of spice, balsamic herbs, sweet vanilla, ripe dark red cherries, red plum, slight earth and minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, juicy high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), velvety high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe dark red cherries, red plums, cassis, spice, earth and slight minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. Just entering drinking window in this format, I would give the regular bottle another 3 years. I am of the opinion that Antinori produces consistently good wines.

Cellier Wine Fair (Hilton Athenaum Hotel): Served from mangum. The wine feels evolved from the color. The nose is of medium intensity, the profile is over to the earthy/tobacco side. The red fruit gets thinner, quite decadent with coffee too. The wine shows medium body, the palate is also evolved, drying, oak standing taller than the red cherry fruit, earthy and slightly gamey, short finish. Very good quality, expected vastly more of this, especially because it was a magnum. The wine was quite evolved, drink now 88+

This is a fine Super Tuscan, that starts to really come arround and showing some maturity. Rather consistant with my notes from last bottle, 31/12-2012. This is still young, and I would give it perhaps 5 years before drinking it. Very fine Tuscan cherry profile. A very fine Tig. (90 – 92)

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep ruby color, with brown rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of plum and blackberry, pungent spice of licorice, MLF notes of cream, kernel notes of milk chocolate, mineral notes of earth, animal notes of meat, maturity notes of farmyard and tobacco. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe but still a bit grippy on texture, with medium alcohol and a medium body. It has medium intensity flavors of black fruit such as blackberry and juicy plum, herbal notes of blackcurrant leaf, kernel notes of cinnamon, oak notes of cedar, maturity notes of tobacco. The wine has a medium (+) finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Italian super-tuscan, can easily be mistaken for a Bordeaux, showing good concentration on the nose with a wide range of complex characters. On the palate it is elegant, with well-defined structure of a reasonable intensity, with also ample flavors to accompany the fairly long finish. Only the tannin is still a bit gripping and may require more time to mellow. It is ready to drink now though can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

Brought two bottles to union Square Cafe in NYC, great place in NYC and corkage friendly. Drank this after a BV Georges La Tour. Decanted for about an hour
Deep purple color. Nose of earth/charcoal, barnyard. Palate is rustic and layered. Black fruits, currants, tobacco. Sangiovese gives it a dark cherry like mid palate. Full bodied, long and nuanced finish. Classic Super Tuscan profile
Rustic and layered, this is drinking well right now but built for the long term. Good wine from a consistent producer. Better with food, IMO.

Deep purple with blue hues in the glass. Attention-grabbing bouquet of barnyard, black farm soil, pronounced sanguinity, coal, and smoldering ash. A friend who works in the trade thought it was Left Bank Bordeaux because of these elements. Weighty, full-bodied, and thick. Chewy mouthfeel, medium tannin and acid, balanced. This offering drank like it smelled, in rustic layers. For the first few hours, intense sanguinity and barnyard dominated the experience. With air, blackcurrant and other dark berries began to show, along with graphite, mineral ores, and fine quality tobacco. The wine was softer yet still notably earthy and rustic on the third day. A great experience!
The wine appears to be squarely in its drinking window. It has the substance to age for ten to fifteen years, but I do not think it will improve much. Indeed, the wine imparted the impression that it is already showing all its charms. It is not a tannic monster, though it is decidedly weighty, even somewhat muddy. No reason not to enjoy this now IMO.

Lean and funky when popped-and-poured, then mellowed out showing typical aged Cab characteristics of blackcurrant leaf and tobacco with a tiny amount of dark cherry from the Sangiovese. Spice and heat a bit much at the moment so might benefit from extra aeration. Nice but a poor QPR.

Greener than 2007, seemed that this wine wasn't ready for consumption, even though the style of Tignanello was there. Pleasant sweetness and complexity is there, but I wouldn't drink it yet. (A-)

Verticale Tignanello: Un beau nez de fruit et de truffes. La bouche est bien mûre, très élégante, c'est un excellent vin énergique, complet, un peu plus moderne, mais racé et séduisant. 93 pts

Deep garnet. Nose was very old-style Bordeaux like with intense barnyardy aromas on the verge of acceptability. Yet the wine has concentration and depth of flavor while being still tannic to merit a score close to 90. I am not sure it will go much much further as I also found the fruit to be overripe and quite mature.

A bretty nose with barnyard funk, cherry and earthy scents. Medium-bodied with firm tannins, good balance and a medium aftertaste that does not justify the wine's status. Still quite young. Relatively disappointing given my expectations. The 2007 is much, much better!

Opened for 6 hours then decanted for 4. A little funk on the nose I have often found with Antinori wines that blew off after decanting. Balanced wine with dark cherries, moderate acidity and a nice finish. Should improve in 2-4 years. This was outclassed by the 2010 Flaccianello this night.

Popped and poured from a 375. Virually no time for aeration. Delicious, smooth velvety tannins, very familiar Tig nose, some earth and dark fruit. Wonderful bottle.

Emerging slowly. Still years (3-5?) left in this one. Opened up nicely.....smooth and refined, with a beautifully long finish. OK to drink now, but there may be better to come as it comes together even more.

A bit to cold when served, and with just a (too) short decant. Dense, deep color. Lovely nose with typical Tuscan identity, loads of herbs and some menthol/mint with a nice touch of distinctive Cabernet Franc dust. Silky full-bodied texture, dry tannins and good dark red fruit (Cherries/kirsch) , with a long finish. Still young and will develop. I believe this wine will be great with some more cellar time, for the tannis to resolve and fully integrate with the deep cherry fruit.

Forward, complex nose of black and red fruit nose, raisin, herb, dry leaves. Sharp acidic palate with drying, but fine, tannins. Still too tannic and sharp at the moment but all the ingredients are there.

Not as together as an '09 Sassicaia it was compared to in a tasting. Perhaps a little more decanting time would have helped. Sharp and alcoholic. Last drops were beginning to resolve.

Drank this wine in a restaurant in Montefollonico after having a wondeful 'La Ricolma'. Probably I was spoiled with the elecance and fruit of that wine (which was a 100% Merlot), but the Tignanello could not stand up to this wine. Missing fruit, elegance, medium strong. I botght one home and will try it again in the next 6 months.

85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Tasted at CAL-ITAL Summer Wine Fest & Jazz Reception at H2o Pool Bar in the Golden Nugget Atlantic City. Rich & opulent black & red fruits w/finishing notes of chocolate. Dry, chewy tannins, moderate acidity, full-bodied & a long finish.

Saying Goodby to Dave B (Home of Mike and Sandra O.): Great to check in on a wine I own. Very primary, tannic, and tight. Rather shy nose with a little cherry. Palate with cherry, cassis, and hint of cranberry, with a crystalline pure quality. Very tannic and drying. Long finish. Looks like it’ll be great in 5+ years. Hold. 92-94

Decanted 1.5 hrs prior to tasting. Tasted solo and with grana padano cheese. It's fine. That's about it. Simple nose, subtle oak in smokey meats. Lots of grapey blue fruits. Good weight, good balance, good structure, but simple. No fireworks, no spark, no soul. Nothing complex or distinctive.

Decanted for 2 hours. Still young. Tannins are very present though they have softened considerably in the 2 years since I last drank it. The 05 is more drinkable today. This needs 2-3 more years but will be well worth the wait and will develop for much longer after that.

A pleasant enough wine, but a tad inelegant for my taste. A soda-fountain cherry syrup, cherry cough drop flavor upon opening springs out at you mid-palate, surprisingly commercial and gauche. Almost like an artificial flavor enhancer. Still very, very tannic at this stage. A half hour's airing in hopes of mellowing the tannins resulted only in a loss of fruit, which became quite thin, and the introduction of a vegetal, herbal note. May evolve into something fun, but it may take 10 years for that to happen and I suspect the fruit, thin as it is, will die before the tannins do.

Antinori Tignanello 2006 - PASS - £70 The wine sits intense, deep ruby red in the glass. Cherry, Spice, Herb and hints of oak on the nose combine for an initially stunted but eventual punchy and rich aroma. Great density of flavour and richness on the palate, firm tannic structure and solid acidity; this wine is in balance. Vibrant and fruit forward through the palate with a clean and satisfying finish. Very good wine, but not extra special or "super". 92 Points

7.5/10 - Tight, firm with a heavy cloak of tannins. Blackberries and dark red fruits with some mint and vanilla / oak. While nice, I did not feel that the wine was very well put together. A little less oak and tannins would have been nice, but that could be due to the young age of the wine.
Drank at Morton's. S$484/bottle

Vigorously decanted for about an hour. Extremely closed and tight at first. Almost no nose at first but gradually grew with time in the decanter. Maybe a sign of the vintage but much more closed than 2007's drunk recently. Flavors of cranberry and bright cherries dominate with some leather and spice. While very good, I will hold my remaining bottles for quite a few years before revisiting or give them a very long decant.

Long, belle qualité de tannins. Directement mis dans le verre, dégusté aprèes une trentaine. Ca le faisait

Raspberries and cherry (black), a little backward in the nose but already quite warm. Long finish with tannins that still need to integrate a bit better. Tasted blind and I was pretty sure this was a new world wine, but for Italian wines to me that is a good sign!

A bold and balanced Tignanello with lovely dark red fruits and plenty of structure and tannins. The slight grittiness of the sangiovese is what differentiates this wine from other cab/merlot-based Super-T's and I mean that in a good way. This is a powerful but also graceful Tignanello that should age beatifully. 92+

Paired with osso bocco and fresh from the garden veggies for a great meal. Multi layered fruits and a hint of earthiness after a floral nose. Can't really compare this to a Bordeaux because of the over expressive fruit, but like most Italian wines, they're great with meals.

Ordered off the menu at Sienna (Mashpee, MA). Nice deal on the menu for less than full retail (and probably less than discounted for MA). Nice nose of spiced wood, scorched earth, and sweet cherry. Nicely balanced, tannins are still very young, acid is prominent, and cherry/berry flavors are solid. With the forward acid, this went nicely with food (mine was sweet Italian sausage with linguine). This will have a nice long life.

This wine is still young but gets better with each bottle I open. We put this alongside the Belgrave Bordeaux and the only difference was the enhanced fruit of the Tignanello. Way too young but it wasn't my idea to open it. Out of balance with acidity overwhelming everything else. This should be alot better with a few years in the cellar. Surprisingly much better a couple of nights later - more in balance. IF you must drink it give it a long decant. 88 the first night - 92 the second night.

Tasted blind on night 1 - the oak and ripe fruit hit me on the nose right away, making me think this was California. On the palate, this was a bit simple on night 1 - tons of oak and slightly overripe fruit.
On night 2, there was quite a change - a little more earth and acidity coming through gave this a more Bordeaux-like quality, but the slightly pruney grapey fruit still made this feel a bit New World. On night 3, this was still holding up quite well, and perhaps the best on this night, as the primary aspects of the fruit started to be stripped away. The acidity came out best on this night, though overall, the feel is still a bit sweet like a Cali cab. 92+, very close to a 93 at times.

Surprised this wine was so approachable as young as it is. Italian Bordeaux at its best. Built to last but drinkable now if you like your wine young. Good deep dark purple color with bold dark fruit on the nose. Hints of oak and vanilla but somewhat reserved. Big legs with soft tannins and acidity with a lingering medium dry finish. Opened for 4-6 hours and the fruit developed and softened even more.

Dark, glossy ruby red. Sweet, floral aromatics. Blackcurrant, violets, roses and smoky oak on the nose. Full bodied with good acidity and youthful dry grippy tannins. Seamless, balanced palate; blackcurrant and cherry with undertones of leather, tobacco and coffee. The finish is dominated by the spicy oak. Very young, would like to try this again in 10 years.

I couldn't resist to open this half bottle that I got as a gift this summer from a friend in Italy. It was worth it!
Deep ruby colour, hints of purple at the rim. Full aromas of fresh blackberry, some blueberry and hints of leather and violet. Full bodied with a concentrated core of black fruit, dusty mouth coating tannins and fresh acidity. A long finish that remains fresh. It needed just a few hours to open up, but is quite accessible already. It could use some more time to integrate a bit more. But with some air its seriously seductive already. There could be some upward potential here (94-95pts). Drink 2012 - 2018.

Nice

Tignanello 2006
Opened at 5PM.

Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes
Winery: Tignanello. Varietal: Cab Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Cab Franc.
Area/Appellation: Toscana IGT Vintage: 2006 Price: $159 Anton’s
Color: dark ruby some orange tints Legs: slow
Nose: blackberry, orange rind, violets, Red cherry, an iron component, dusky, earth, lots of forest floor.
I pulled this out of the Eurocave at the right time
Comments: I do know the 2007 Tig scored higher but this has balls and breadth to last, especially if it’s been cellared correctly.
Score in terms of Vintage: 95
Score for the Wine: 96+

Magnum decanted for 5 hours - Dark cherry, tobacco, mint, integrated tannins. Evolution of wine post decant while drinking over 2 hours was phenomenal. However, this classic Tignanello has time to evolve and can be magnificent in 5 years.

There seems like there can be some nice stuffing in this wine, but it's all closed up and not on display. What is on display, however, is oak. Way too much of it, given how little else is showing. One can but pray that the oak integrates.

Very good with steak tonight but a monolithic wine at this point. I will wait a couple years before trying another-- hoping that tannins soften further and greater evolution can occur.

The wine was quite evolved, drink now

A much better showing this time. Dark garnet with ruby hues. Complex and expressive nose with leather, red cherry, earthyness, esspresso and cedar. Medium to full-bodied with firm yet fine-grained tannins, bright fruit and perfect balance. Long aftertaste. Drinks nicely now but will continue improving over the next decade.

The wine sits intense, deep ruby red in the glass. 92 Points

Very nice but also very young. Black fruits with a touch of bell pepper. Nice Chewy tannins and balanced acidity. If I had some, and I wish I did, I would wait a few years as this will improve with time.

Drink 2012 - 2018.

what struck me is how smooth and well balanced this was (maybe even too much so) - chewy and a little oaky too. compared to the 2004 this was marginally less fruity and also less powerful I think.
