Great wine, medium richness, medium acidity, notes of confitated orange, candied ginger, bruised red apples, a bit of spice and a great 50-60 seconds finish… Sadly my last bottle.

Coravin fun - European Riesling (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Ripe, generously fruited; stone fruit; a little orange; ripe apple, very very slight kerosene note, floral elements. Exceedingly pretty nose. Medium plus intensity acidity is offset by the residual sugar, a similar cornucopia of fruit on the palate, a little honeyed note is joined by slight bitterness on the medium plus length finish. Very nice.

Medium to medium deep gold. Lovely baked apple nose with just a hint of honey and a slight dusting of mineral. Huge, intense, and perfectly balanced palate. Really covers the palate, and has a long finish. Peach, mandarin orange, with a burnished, singed orange peel nuance. Can't really say it is sweet, but it is intensely fruity. Finish is dry, buoyed by a strong acidic backbone that is perfectly judged, never approaching tart. Very nice!

A private dinner (Restaurant d'Oude Schuur, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium): Tasted blind. Bright, off-dry, intense, vegetal bitters, wax and flowers, citrus and blackcurrant, peach, lip-licking acidity, dry finish with excellent resonance and length. Needs more time now, one extra point based on potential.

A private dinner (Restaurant d'Oude Schuur, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium): Surprisingly evolved, rich and sweeter than I had anticipated, hint of caramel, improves with oxygen, becomes fresher and more floral, salted lemon, but ultimately lacks freshness and elegance. There must be better bottles. Not rated.

Kleur: Medium strogeel. Aroma / bouquet: Ten opzichte van 10 jaar geleden lijkt deze Riesling Kabinett minder expressief maar meer complex. Steenfruit, petroleum / goût de petrol, honing, rabarber en overrijpe gele appel. Soft, sweet - I was guessing spätlese or kabinett, round and friendly; the warm vintage speaks, it lacks a bit of the traditional Egon cut throat acidity, but it is very well balanced and precise. No reason to cellar this any longer IMHO #HSA#AndréInMemoriam

Had this maybe 10 years ago and felt it was a much better wine then, pretty nose of mango, cantaloupe, wet stones and touch of honey, palate is much cleaner and lighter and feels less sweet than the nose would lead you to believe

The 2007 Kabinett was showing really well. Soft and delicious nose with light apple, kumquats and flintstone notes. Nearly no aging notes on the palate, quite impressive for a 13 year old Kabinett. Beautiful sweet freshness with citrus and gooseberry notes - lots of amazing mineral notes too. The acidity is nicely integrated and well balanced with the sweetness. Not that much depth but a beautiful overall character. Finish is medium long and very juicy. (drank at Schloss Elmau Hotel)

Currently in a somewhat closed phase, as many 2007s are to my palate. Air helped, and the crystalline elegance of Muller was fully apparent. Crunchy fruit, and a deep mineral base promise even more several years down the road. The depth is there, it just needs to unfurl.

Initially on the nose, slight kerosene but with time ripe apple tending to peach with some strudel sweet spice. The wine is off dry but has the acidity to balance this out. Lovely.

Yellow colour, hint of straw which is unexpected but very fresh all the same. Nose is apple dominated, hint of mango, restrained. Sour note, dominated by crab apple and grapefruit. Kabinett precision, not too sweet which is good, especially in a year like 07. Good intensity, a touch austere still. Good balance and weight. Leave for 3 years, this should improve.

This is why Egon Muller is more expensive than other Mosel producers. It just outshines the competition, at least in a mature year as 2007. The balance and freshness is amazing. Sweetness is there but is subdued by the steely, lemony acidity. Just as you want your Mosel. Has it with cheese, which is actually a great combination, and refreshing before you get to the stickies.

A very petrolly, minerally nose. Very zingy, lively palate, even after it's been open around three hours! Even after that time, and having come to room temperature, there's no particularly obvious residual sugar feeling separate. Great balance. A very fine Kabinett that's developed and improved nicely since I last tried it in 2008.

Saddly my last of six bottles bought in 2008. Through the years it transformed from an almost tart wine to last night's ethereal beauty. Amazing purity of fruit with jasmine notes, dry to off-dry with a barely perceptible CO2 on the palate. The epitome of elegance. It showed very clearly why some wines really need time in the bottle to show their potential.

No matter how ripe the vintage in Germany, I can always count on the wines of the Saar to deliver some of those cool, green fruit flavors I love so much. This kabinett delivers that as well, but in a tropical vein. It's loaded with green mango aromas, and even goes so far as ripe papaya, but then the lime and green apple elements kick in and carry the wine through the mid palate and to a mineral infused finish. The balance is pure kabinett, with the acidity meshing with the sweetness to render the wine barely off dry and with a completely dry finish. It's lip-smacking and bracing, two very rare qualities in the 2007 vintage. This is a real "wow" wine, but that is what one expects from Egon Muller.

Top 100 Farewell Dinner 2014 (Rodwell House): (Tasted Blind): Mid yellow with intense floral notes of classic Riesling: slate, lime, white flowers. Glassy textured with a fine, integrated, racy acidity, and a hint of RS, the palate is linear in shape with a chalky, pithy finish. Long and well balanced.

Very subtle and balanced Müller Kabinett! Refined and non-flashy mineral touch. I might describe it as a bit reserved and classy aristocrat. Very fine and balanced acid. Balance and infinite quaffa'bility might describe this wine! Had a bit of a tough time after such profoundly gripping wines like Armand Rousseau Clos-de-Beze 97 and Coche-Dury Meursault 2004. Anyway, great and super balanced Riesling!

Sweet German Wine Tasting; 5/26/2013-5/29/2013 (Vin Gilles): 10% Alcohol and that makes all the difference. Yes its on the sweet side, but its restrained. Lovely mineral nose. This is much more rounded and has a balance that the other 2 Kabinetts don´t have. Touch of creaminess. Not over the top, perfectly balance. Everything you could want from this style of wine. Not petrol on the nose, but I would drink this sooner rather than later.

Starting to come together but really much better on the second day. A classic Kabinett of the first order, waxy, peachy and floral, gradually starting to show its minerality; has the steely acidity, impeccable balance and innate energy for a long life. Should easily last 25-30 years. Very precise and focused. Wait 3-5 years.

Light lemony color. Nose is a marvel of purity. Citrus fruit along with florality, herbaceousness and elegant mineral nuances. Light weight Mosel Riesling with an off-dry feel. High acidity to balance sugars. Satisfying finish. An elegant wine which is beginning to drink nicely. Three years ago when I last tasted it, it was so tart that it was barely drinkable, now it is perfect and I beleive will develop and last for some years.

Youthful lemon-green with a perfumed nose of flowers, honey, citrus fruit and minerals. Elegant with bright acidity that balances around 25 g/lt rs. Delicate in body with low alcohol leading to a long mid-palate. Well extracted, intense with moderate complexity. Will improve over the next 3 years and keep possibly for another 5-7.

Alcohol :: 10% A.P. 03 08. From 375ml. Popped and poured. This has to be one of the best Kabinett I have ever had, though I slightly fond to the 2008 vintage (better tension and complex on mineral), but this is brilliant too. Green apple, white peaches, oyster shell and white floral scents. Stunning weight for a Kabinett, so much depth and flesh (riper tone than 2008) to offer yet remain precise and focus. It flowed to the intensely long finish smoothly and harmoniously. With time, lemon and even hint of pineapple flavors evolved.

Hermitage 2007 Riesling Tasting (Hermitage, One Marina Boulevard): Brilliant - possibly the best young Kabinett I have ever had. This completely blew the Fritz Haag BJ out of the water. Nose was intensely perfumed, with chamomile, rose petals and sorts of flowery scents dancing around. Beautiful. Crisp and bight on the palate, it showed plenty of grip and a punchy weightiness riding on the fresh acidity. Again, I got lots of flowers floating above musky notes, some peach and white fruit all undergirded by tons of granite. Very integrated, very elgantly sculpted. Nice, sleek, stylish finish as well - clean as a whistle all the way through, ending in a long lingering sigh of chamomile and white flowers.

Very light yellow. Took some time to open and was alive and kicking on day two. Nose of litchee, muscat nuts, coconut oil, young pineapple and just hints of petrol. In the mouth this is very fresh, very intense, yet has that special marriage of fatness and a light feel that is the hallmark of great winemaking. Hard to believe this is just a kabinett. What complexity and what finish. And still it is so young...

German 'Lieblich' wines Tasting by Vin Gilles (Amsterdam): Very elegant, powerful and classic Kabinett. Yellow fruits as peach and melon but also rhubarb. Well balanced, very complex (fruits, minerals and 'petrol') on the palate lingering on for minutes. Should last very well.

Light lemon green. Typical Mosel riesling nose with citrus fruit, florals and minerality. Medium-bodied, amazingly pure and balaned with bright fruit, sweetness and high acidity. Very long aftertaste. Extremely elegant and satisfying.

33 Rieslings, from sparkling to TBA (Trondheim Norway): (AP 03-08) Typical nose, although slightly closed. In the mouth the acidity is rather aggressive and for a kabinett it is very powerful. High concentration and minerality. Enormous potential

Pale; hint of sweetness on the nose; dry on the palate owing to its typical, steely Saar-acidity, flavours of peach, flowers and honey; stylish and racy but a bit unknit at this stage. Comes together after a day in the decanter, great grip and tension.
