Another Evening of Lafon in Red and White (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Pale like the '07. Some brett and barnyard here. Light to medium body. Black fruited, again some anise, soil, and excellent acidity. For its weight, very pleasing mid-palate feel leading up to an earthy, tannic finish. More power at the end than the 2007, chunkier but really good too in its own way.

Not much to add to Blair’s note above. This was drinking very well, youthful but approachable, showing pure red and berry fruit notes with hints of stems and earth. Nice acid spine and good energy. Drink or hold. Excellent.

Drinking great. Just needed a few years to come together. Less now about the fruit. Very Volnay in character. Will likely get better over the short term but in an awersome place now.

Bright red. Big red fruit on the nose. Soft generous red fruit flavors follow. Round with a lot of sap. New World in character; the fruit finishes just short of being candied. This has come together nicely over the last year or so.

Medium color. Pleasant red fruit nose. Less acidic than most 2006's. Enjoyable if straightforward pinot on the red side of the spectrum. Light bodied, and medium-short finish.

Very heavy and sappy aroma. This wine was very closed at this point with some mushroom and raspberry. There was some distinctive Pinot funk and some baking spices. The nose was a little hot. This wine was slightly bitter and very juicy with some aromas of canned veggie, carrot and some dried fruit. This wine needs more time.

Great purity, fantastic red fruits. Drinking very well, though still feels entirely primary at the moment.

Drinking lovely now. Nice dark berry fruit, excellent acid. Nice leafy/stemmy complexity now too. Lively in the mouth. Very nice!

Dark and brooding. Light touch of oak. completely in proportion. Would give this 5+ years.

Red Carpet: Cherry, rasp, kirsch, richer bod, seems metalic in mth; needs lots of time.

Traditional colour; lacking nose; lacking aftertaste; lacking a bit of everything but still a good taste, but not a blockbuster
