No Detailed Notes - Rich and creamy nose, almost overwhelmingly dark cherries with the addition of a medicinal and loamy note in the background. Completely soft texture with a fading and slightly hot finish. Palate follows the nose. Definitely drink now, I cannot imagine much improvement over time. Wow. This is one big Pinot. Drank over two days. Concentrated and intense, highly aromatic, with sweet dark fruits and spice trouncing all over a few herbal notes in the background. There is some mid palate depth and enough acid to keep this from being too sweet or flabby, but this wine just walked all over the duck we had. This vintage is really coming across as a cocktail wine to be drank on its own, rather than a food wine. It is tasty and pleasurable, but would possibly pair better if you considered it more like a Syrah. Day two- the entry and mid palate soften and lose a little energy, the acid continues to keep the wine in check. Still prefer this wine as a solitary drink on day two.

A lot of Wines at Tommy's Clambake (again) (Tommy K's.): This bottle had been open and poured at lunch, so this was now about 5 hours later when I tried it. The nose is deep and ripe. Spice and macerated cherries. Also some plums. Slight heat on the wine. It is very good with nice dark cherry fruit on the palate. Good finish. Can't see this improving from here and I would drink up sooner than later.

Pop and pour. Drank with friends at a birthday party so this wasn't a super contemplative affair. Deep, dark maroon color. Slow, thick legs. Raspberry/blackberry and cola on the initial nose with a little warm earth in the background. Lots of concentration on the initial palate, however there's also balancing acidity that keeps the fruit firm and not flabby. There's a oakiness as it opens but it's not a deal breaker, actually it plays well with the fruit. Very much typical of the vintage - ripe, full-bodied fruit, but overblown or overly ripe. Lots of power in this wine, but also finesse. Great finish, plenty of length and depth. Nice.

Still showing well as a dark ruby colored elegant pinot noir. Rich, but not over the top, and elegant in weight and silkiness. Cherry, tea, light cola, a touch of raspberry and cranberry for pucker, good with a wide range of foods. From the list, Proof, Washington DC.

My first bottle, about a year ago, was fantastic. I loved it and was tempted many times to try by second and last bottle. Unfortunately this bottle was nothing like I remembered it. Sour is the word that most comes to mind.

From 75cl, perfect cork. Murky-muddy unfiltered appearence with evident orange-tinged maturity on the rim. Striking legs in the glass. Took 20 minutes to start opening up on the nose, thereafter a promising, evidently very ripe dark pinot fruit scent with earth, forest floor and dried mushrooms. Sweet, glycerine-buffered entry with a slightly mealy texture which I initially found unattractive; the mid-palate is, however, beautifully lifted with laser-beam acidity and a very satisfying bright red-fruit crescendo; very long, complex, layered finish (almost as if my saliva were breaking down the glycerine and allowing the superb acid/mineral balance of the wine to come through). I'd say this is fully mature now, and would love to know where it goes from here. 91P(+)
A big, dark, cloudy wine with forcefully expressive aromas of red plum, cranberry, and strawberry. Does this have something other than Pinot Noir in it, or is it just a 2006? Or both? I like the feral quality of this wine and the fact that it has a little VA. Look forward to checking out this producer in a less ripe vintage.

Youthful color. Strawberry jam, mulling spices, pipe smoke, and damp earth. Not a complex wine but impeccably crafted with superb depth and a flavorful finish punctuated by a pop of acidity. What a pleasure.
I believe this was the inaugural vintage and if so I can't wait to try the others.

Popped and poured. Deep, almost opaque red-garnet. Heady nose of stewed fruit and beets with some spice. Rather heavy and alcoholic on the palate but there's decent acidity here to help balance things. Rather more typical of 2006 in Oregon than anything else.

Popped and poured to accompany a Tri--Tip from the grill. Wine had a nice ruby color in the glass, and a nose of slightly unripe red fruits with just a hint of spice and raisin. At the first taste, there was a vinegary overtone which overshadowed the fruit. It disappeared after twenty minutes. The wine then showed the clean flavors of cherry and red fruit with a simple but pleasant finish. the body of this wine has thinned a bit since our first bottle, losing some of the jammy notes. It is now a beautifully characteristic Oregon pinot - clean fruity wine that makes you finish the bottle, even if you only meant to have one glass. This Antica Terra 2006 is drinking wonderfully, and I wouldn't hesitate to plow through my remaining bottles for the sheer enjoyment I had tonight.

Popped and poured. Medium ruby color leads to a nose of cherry, sandalwood, and cinnamon. Medium full body shows beautiful raspberry, blueberry, sandalwood, and cinnamon while finishing with good acidity. This really began to sing after about one hour in the glass. I think this is drinking at plateau but will likely remain at this level another 5 years.

Last bottle of this little purchase. Despite best efforts I have failed to retain any for aging purposes. On this occasion I'm getting a little dill on the nose over wet leaves and a biscuity nutty (ameritti biscuits?) quality. This one has a slight funk to it as well. In the mouth this bottle is lightly sweet spiced and I get very slight sour cherry from a fruit perspective. Medium plus acid and medium minus tannin with the acid being the dominant factor on the long finish. This one might be a little advanced though the cork looked fine.

dark for a pinot noir, quite autumnal nose of wet leaves, bruised orchard apples, and freshly tilled earth. There is spice and leather there as well. In the mouth more of the same, nicely balanced and a longish finish.

This has made so much improvement from a year ago. It was honestly a let down last year. Opened with hopes of a better wine and it exceeded expectations. Deeper resolved cherry, palate more intense. In the future I am going to give her wines 4 years before diving in because this has shown what patience will reward. Good to see her experience shine through on one of her first few vintages with this fruit. I look forward to many more. My last bottle though.

Not sure what to think of this. Very bright purple, nose had a bit of grape kool-aid to it that was somewhat off putting. Pretty good flavors (though the kool aid comes through on the palate also). Put on weight over time, eventually getting some minerality in the flavors, along with some spices. Hopefully with some more time in bottle, or a decent decant, this will come around.

The Usual Suspects (with photos) (Fiddler's Green): A violet/ruby color in the glass with scents of Willamette funk, earth, bacon fat, and cherry sweet tart barely mask the alcohol on the nose showcasing the 14.5% as possibly something a little higher. In the mouth flavors of tart bing cherry, cola, and kirsh liquor are present but not very exciting. This is just not my style...

Really enjoyed the break from Cali Pinots. Great nose, very pure red fruit and a bit vegetal. Great mid palate of red fruit and fall flavor but it did have a hint of bitterness. The finish had a beautiful creaminess to it but it was not oaky at all, it blended the fruit perfectly. One of the better Pinots i've had in some time. 93 pts.

Dang I like Maggie's 06 Pinot Noir, had not had a bottle for six months, it is better than the last one. This is not a burgandian Oregon PN like Thomas. This one shows Maggie's California experience in a good way. Extracted, big fruit but smooth and enjoyable. Shared with a great wino at the club, he loved it also. Maybe my favorite of the big 06's. I am glad I got two cases. Might pop an 07 tonight to compare.

Really intense nose of tart red cherries and earth. Medium bodied with great red cherry, cranberry and redcurrant flavors. Balanced nicely with some earthiness. Tart fruit flavors, but it seems so young. Good example of Oregon Pinot, in my opinion. Would love to taste this again in several years. Great stuff.

14.4% alc...the nose is very ripe, cherry, all spice, white pepper, earth...the palate is firm and packed with plenty of fruit and acidity, but this isn't high toned, this is dark, jam packed, rich Pinot Noir. I haven't tasted anything like this from Oregon before - at some points the wine tasted riper and firmer than most Beaux Freres I've had. Interested to see how this evolves. The alcohol is more present than 14.4% would indicate.

Had another one tonight with x-mas dinner. We started with a cab and did not like it, did a switch before dinner. Another stellar PN, glad I scored another case a few weeks ago because I believe it is all gone. Berries, fruit, not overpowering, balanced wine. One of our favorites in the cellar from 2006.

Gorgeous, big Oregon pinot. Wonderful acidity, even taking on a orange citrus element. Obvious bright cherries, though moving into the black cherry spectrum. Some obvious dairy and vanilla I'd attribute to oak. A great bottle of wine.

hmmmmm, always a conundrum to talk about a wine you can't really get worked up over when you care about the success of the owner/winemaker. maggie harrison is a true gem, and i want her to succeed. unfortunately, this wine doesn't match my palate. i drink precious few oregon pinots in the first place, and i only sought this out for one reason: maggie. as a calibration, i like soter beacon hill, several ken wrights, and the 98,02,03 sqns from the shea vineyard. this is more a personal palate failure than the wine. it's easy to recognize the compact, well structured fruit, and a good balance to the component parts. there is a (very) earthy, black cherry, almost stemmy quality to the fruit, but not green. fans of the genre are going to have a field day with this wine. now, about that lillian...

Perhaps my favorite 2006 Oregon Pinot Noir tasted this year. This wine is like Pinot should be, balanced, soft, velvet, lots of subdued fruit, not overpowering. I am glad I scored another case a few days ago, I have become friends with this wine.

A pretty medium ruby. Nose is elegant and fruit driven after an initial cloud of sasparilla blows off (like most of my PNs, would have been best to decant a few hours before dinner). Fruit runs to pomegranates and red currents complicated by all sorts of floral and spice notes. Long finish with uplifting acidity. A lovely, elegant wine.

Real extracted, I'm thinking this has some other varietal in it besides Pinot... but it has obvious Pinto fruit. Well balanced and incredibly hedonistic... better then I thought it would be, and to me worth the money. Just don't expect it to be a classic Oregon pinot.

Earthiness and minerality on a darkly seductive nose of red and black berries. The wine is different than what I expect from Oregon pinots in that it has much more ripeness, alcohol, and concentration than I have come to expect. The fruit lush--cherry and ripe raspberry flavors are complemented by earth, minerality, and some tea spices. Some slight asperity on the finish, as well as some heat that creeps in as the wine warms up, but otherwise this is enjoyable for its depth, complexity, and pure fruit flavors.

This is what Oregon pinot is all about! Wow, was this wine ever ethereal. Rich, smooth, velvety texture, fine tannins and perfect amount of acid to frame this wine. Deep, beautiful aromas of brambleberries, charcoal, sois-bois and Ranier cherries. Soft and yet intense and complex on the palate, displaying that magic Pinot three-dimensional mouthfeel. I am quite happy with how this is drinking right now, but no hurry with this wine, drink now over the next 10+ years. I can not wait to drink more of this stuff!!!

Ripe open-knit style. Layered dark fruit, cherries, brown sugar and dessert spice. Wraps the whole mouth and there's a suprising mid-palate acidity. Long vanilla, clove finish. A lot of oak, but just as much fruit, and they work well together. Obvious and nuanced at the same time.

93 pts.

Saturday Tasting Group (Knightsbridge Wine Shop (Northbrook, IL)): Sedimentary rock play on the nose.
Lots of rooty essence with a white pepper spice on the back end.

Definitely improving and putting on weight as they age. Still should probably be more patient but I'm not so good at that.

Hard to evaluate. Very tight, not giving up much either on the nose or palate. I think it needs lots of time.

Such a great wine, extracted yet refined. Not profound but I think worth the price, can't wait to try the '07's.

dark red fruit -- mostly cherry and earth. I would have thought California. This is a really nice wine and shows class. medium finish is really quite pleasant.

Maggie Harrison Wine Tasting (Storyteller Wine Company, Portland, OR): More evolved than the 2007, as it should be. Darker cherry fruit, and much more earth and leather than the tobacco of the 2007. Very tasty!

Unusually ripe and atypical for an Oregon Pinot. The nose starts out with some funk, but this fades away to reveal mainly strawberry aromas. Oak is fairly prominent.

Beautiful ruby color leads to a nose of cherry, spring flowers and a touch of spicebox. Palate carries those flavors forward. Good acidity on finish. Agree with previous TN this is both obvious and nuanced at the same time.
