It's always lovely to have some aged champagne. This was taken to Huso and used for a caviar pairing menu. Just lovely. More nuts and toast and all of that. Enjoyed.

Second of 2 bottles. Previous bottle drank around 2014 was somewhat oxidized with little effervescence and acidity. This bottle was much better. Wonderful. Golden hued, just slightly oxidized nose, but with butterscotch, honeysuckle, baking spice notes. Still effervescent and mousse was fine, but layered and rich with complexity and fine acidity. Excellent with caviar.

Yellow color with a bouquet and flavor of dilute balsamic vinegar fading to hints of petrol, typical of an old Champagne. Good balance with considerable finesse and a nice finish. Still some bubbles. Drunk in a Riedel Chardonnay glass to maximize the flavor.

Drank with friends at Sushi Sasabune in West LA last night. Terrific nose of yeast, citrus and hazelnut. On the palate bread dough, hazelnut, apple, citrus with a medium length finish. Very nice Champagne. Oh and the sushi was terrific.

Opened in Nov.2004. The wine had a fine bead and a pretty floral and doughy nose. It was delicate and seamless. This wine really flowed on the palate. Bright fruit nuances of strawberry and citrus with nuances of hazelnut. This is a beauty and drinking fabulously now. 95 points.

Yellow color with a very fruity bouquet and flavor and nice acidity. Bubbles mostly gone. Good balance and a moderate finish. Not yet over the hill.

Blind White Tasting with Top 2000 White Burgundy (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): Good start to an evening of white wine. Very large scaled orchard fruit with considerable power and concentration. Clearly mature, slightly short of energy, but showing very well now given everything in its balance.

Ah, too late. Not a lot left on this one. A bit of Asian pear, good acids but no yeast, no accents. There was something there once.

Barb's birthday at Marisol (Marisol Restaurant, Greensboro): Light gold in color, this was a very dry and crisp Champagne. Very fine bead with apple flavors, this was a good, but not great, Champagne. 50+11+11+7+7 = 86.

Tasting. Lighter than I expected from a 1990. More finesse than power with good fruit, just a slightly clipped finish.
