Very little fruit remains, most of what you find is bright, crisp, crunchy, spicy, peppery, tart red berries and cigar box, tobacco and wet earth character. Drink up.

[Grand Millesime's Bordeaux:The Legendary Years 1928-1961 dinner at Circa Restaurant, Melbourne] Medium dark garnet, tawny edge. Faint stale & musty taint dissipated somewhat with vigorous aeration; mature black cherry bouquet showing signs of decay with lots of vegetal, cooked green bean, tobacco & pine resin notes. More of the same on the lean & dry palate with quite obvious decadence; not much structure but traces of extraneous acidity peeking through. Modest enervated finish.

In remarkable condition; brickish red (still) clour, right to the edge of the glass.
Nose and palate still showing dominant cassis, with green beans and hints of tobacco. Not extraordinary complexity but beautifully together and remarkably youthful for its 52 years. Showed the longevity of well cellared 1961 Bordeaux. Some thought it was a 1978, it showed that well. Thanks, Bill!

Paul's Bday at Custom House: Lovely nose of dark ripe dry red fruits, slight sour cherry. Bit of nice sour red cherry flavors then falls off quickly. A very Burgundian, soft elegant, refined and finesse, seems younger then vintage, just falls off quickly. Good sour cherry edge. Seems younger than vintage especially from 1961.

Tight and short with soapy notes.

Flickinger "Significant Cellar" Tasting (Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Not a personal favorite today, this showed lots more acidity and tannins than overall charm or flavors.

Birthday Celebration (Custom House Tavern - Chicago IL): From 375 ml bottle. Tart black cherry aromas and flavors to start, fell off very quickly into something much less interesting after 15 minutes.
