Tart fruity attack without any real counterbalance. Tannins are ever so soft and neither fruit sweetness, alcohol nor sugar seems able to buffer the tart attack.
Mid long finish with discrete aging notes then disappears.
I haven't tried this house before but I believe the bottle to be past prime ultimo 2022. Perhaps due to the suboptimal vintage?

Without decanting. Nose - nice bouquet of dark black currents, wood, some liquorice. Palate - now some wood comes out, very fine tannins, liquorice, dark cherries, some plums. Finish - short to medium. Will see how it develops after a while... if it lasts ;)

The DNA of the Chateau is there, so the wine is complex and elegant as other Reserve de la Comtesse, but it's somehow unbalanced. The vintage shows and the overall experience is not that interesting. A good wine, no doubt, but the difference in price compared with the good vintages does not justify purchasing it, and I think that is for all Bordeaux wines.

Two hour decant, the nose is cassis, currant, slight chocolate. The palate is a little tannic but time in the glass resolves this easily, allowing the dark fruit, pencil lead and cassis to come out cleanly. A mellow bodied wine with a medium length finish, if you have it drink it now, it does not need further cellar time and is likely to start fading soon.

Tim's Birthday Celebration (Extra Space): Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of green herbaceousness, bell pepper, cedar wood, some blackcurrant. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of herbs, green bell peppers, cedar wood, and a bit of dark blackcurrant. Rather austere on the palate save for the pervasive herbaceousness. Medium finish. Acceptable quality. Drink up. Will probably not improve with further ageing. And I still don't get it. What's the obsession with this wine? This green herby Réserve de la Comtesse keeps coming back to haunt me. Someone give me a good example of this wine to change my mind please.

A little muted on first opening, possibly due to being at cellar temperature. After 15 minutes, it opened up. Quite classic Bordeaux: pencil shavings, some dark fruit, although not the liveliest. Much fruitier with mushroom soup. Nice oak, gravel, some red and dark fruits. A little on thin side for Pauillac but this is a second wine from 2007, so to be expected. Seems like poor to fair value though. Opened up considerably in the decanter over the course of the evening, becoming much tangier & gravelly. Went well with lamb chops and on it's own after 3 hours and with mimolette cheese.

Medium garnet. Reserved nose of forest floor, cedar wood and some black current, good Medoc typicity. On the palate nice and pleasant but a bit watery and light on the mid palate. I think that is the maximum what they could get out of the second wine in a not so good vintage. Drink up.

You would expect a wine of this pedigree (even though it is a second wine) to at least have some charm, but the reality is that this is over priced by £15 (I paid £25). The more I drink of these 2007s the more I am of the mind that they should be drunk young. Green, tarte fruit with quite an austere palate. I like my wines austere sometimes but this didn't really have any depth or complexity. I doubt this is going to improve. Drink up, or spend your money elsewhere.

Goedhuis Pichon Lalande Tasting & Dinner (Hibiscus Restaurant, London): Initially very alcoholic on nose. Then some fruit, composed, perhaps ready. But on palate sharp, unformed, no length. Second tasting: some sweet fruit on front of palate. But tannic & sharp. Quite acidic, still no length.

Fine and elegant aroma of bell pepper, blackfruits and cigar box. Very typical nose of a cool Bordeaux year. A touch of veggie component in the overall profile which followed through to the palate. Good concentration in the layered mid-palate. Finish is surprisingly deep and long. Although the structure is on the lean side, the fruit, acidity and tannins are well balanced. It is an enjoyable wine for the medium term.

Dark fruits and aging notes in the aroma.
On the palate the wine disappoints.

Same as previous note, drink up if you have this in your cellar.

Rich fruit with coffee. Smooth and full, blackcurrant, creamy strawberry and smoky oak. Time needed.
