Opened and poured. Jammy out of the gate, both in nose and taste. Some braised secondaries like grilled plum, blackberry jam faded with air to showcase a more neutral palate. Day two plus showing a bit brighter fruit - cherry, strawberry. Slight numbing heat, but otherwise smooth and holding. I don't see how this will get better, so drink up.

Opened with pasta. Ruby. Enjoyable aromatics of pepper, squid ink, bubble gum, and new oak. Hoisin and soy notes on the palate, with blackberry and black cherry. Well resolved tannins. Nice oak integration. A nice offering that isn't too over the top. Day two under vac-u-vin, very nice dense core of pure Zin beauty - a bit understaded but solid juice. Certainly has held and not lost much, but don't see tremendous improvement at this stage.

14.7% alcohol. Such fun to drink this side-by-side with the Carlisle bottling. They're strikingly different. This is more restrained, with higher toned fruit, and a more subtle spice component. Brambly and very pretty, with great purity. Black fruit leads the way, with excellent acidity. A-

Novy is probably my favorite producer for the price. The is a very interesting Zin. A little heat on the back end but very integrated red flavors with a slight hint of pepper on the back end. Far from jammy. Nice effort.

Traci opened this bottle on Tuesday night for a glass of wine. We recorked and brought down to LA with us. Had a glass last night at the end of the bottle. Well, this is a pretty terrific Zinfandel. Full of brambly blackberry fruit, pepper and a little earthiness. Got just enough acidity to keep it fresh and lively. Can easily go a few more years without any decline. Terrific.

Does not even closely resemble my last two bottles of this wine. Previously I found this wine to be a little too fat and lacking acid. Not this time. Nice nose with deep earthy berry fruit and some sweet barbecue. On the palate just a deep, rich earthy dark ripe cherry with a vibrant acidity and a long finish. Not a trace of alcohol I might add. This particular bottle shows a gorgeous zinfandel, not too light, not too dark, full of generous fruit on its upward trajectory. What a way to end my Novy binge!!!

14.7% alcohol. Big, brambly nose that has a tightness about it. With air, though, the fruit profile really opens up to be so endearing. More linear than voluptuous for a Zin, with great focus and purity. Lovely, long finish. A-

14.7% alcohol. Rocking wine. Beautiful nose of spice and black fruit. Good structure and richness. Eminently drinkable now, but it will be better with some more time. A-

On the lighter side of zinfandels but very flavorful and juicy yet slightly compromised by heat on the nose and high alcohol on the palate, which did not seem to dissipate over time.

I love Siduri. I love Carlisle, and I love what Adam does with Mike's fruit. But this is the third disappointing bottle I have had in three tries. Opens up soft with little spice or acid. Over half the bottle left after bringing it to a tasting the other night--usually a Novy is drained quickly by this group. I brought it home and by the afternoon the acid seemed to pick up. But by dinner whatever promise was there quickly vanished as it was flatter than day old beer. Btw, temp did not play a role as it never got above 65. Odd indeed as the 06 estate zin shows nothing similar to this.

A little more plummy and lush than previous vintages but very enjoyable nonetheless. There are some nice nuanced flavors here but I would prefer a bit more structure. Drink 'em if you got 'em.

Tasted at the 17th Annual Zin Thing
Excellent, but too long ago for notes and scores.
Of 7+ zins tasted, this was one of two favorites.

I enjoyed this. Nice ripe cherry fruit with hints of chocolate. Not much by the way of spice but certainly soft and very drinkable.
