Starts off muted with little character to show. Starts to open up and within an hour is showing a lot more flare. You trade zip of more mature flavors. Lemon curd, lychee notes. Pretty decent acidity. We all liked this.

This is in a perfect place, so good. An almost completely different wine than on release. Gone is the day of bright acidity and salinity. Much more depth and texture with the 15 years of bottle age. Stash some of these away if you have the cellar space.

Dull yellow color. Nothing dull about it in the mouth, in fact a lemony delight with unusual gras for Muscadet and ripping acidity. Terrific mineral/soil finish. I would say that this more than delivered as a $15 purchase that showed like a Premier Cru Chablis at 13 years of age, and it's not done yet.

Tulip colored. White flowers, hay, and citrus. Light but marvelous sheen and sap for Muscadet. Ripe but tangy lemon attack, outstanding acidity, and a long finish of crushed limestone and raging salinity. It's funny, we had a great Dauvissat Preuses last night, and while this wine doesn't have the dimension or depth of that wine, it wouldn't have rolled over and died if tasted next to it, and it has some of that primordial mystery that Chablis often possesses.

Rather advanced, with a darkish color and lots of almond on the nose, but plenty of minerality to give it structure and still hold it together. Interesting, but other notes suggest this was perhaps not pristine.

Crisp on the palate with decent acidity. I will probably be in the minority here, but while this is nice, is it any better than on release? Not sure aging these really delivers any substantial improvement.
Again, similar in color to the two preceding wines; nose is somewhat nondescript, but there is a faint oxidative note here that might indicate that this bottle didn't fare as well in the cellar over the past decade.
That oxidative note carries through to the palate as well - if you tried this wine on it's own, you might not pick up on this and just think that the wine was less structured and maybe a touch dilute, but having had the other two wines first, this is just beginning to head downhill.

Glorious. Clean, mean mineral bomb. The fruit is lean like glass. The ozone and rainy pavement envelop lemony goodness. Slight touch of oxidation around the edges. In a perfect spot. Drink up with some light foods.

There's a distinct green tint to the medium yellow color. I normally perceive a good deal of citrus in the aromas of Briords but in this instance that seems to be sharing the stage with something reminiscent of the seashore: almost oyster liquor-like. The citric twang pushes forward on the palate and reminds me of the yellow-skinned variety of sweet limes. Amazing, really, that a nine year old $13 wine is this vibrant and interesting.

Light greenish yellow. Herbal/algal aromas. Light weight but a lovely layer of glycerine. More fruit (orange) than it has shown before, vanilla bean, and then a powerful finish of acid and soil that leaves a dusting of stone on the tongue. Tremendous, as fresh as it was 2 years ago, and as always, amazing return on a $15 investment. That won't change over the next decade, either.

Man, this shows so beautifully. That said, it's 9 hours in when the wine shows best. The nose is subtle and graceful and is unmistakably briny, and there are also leesy, lemony, and floral scents. It's less about intensity and more about focus and clarity, and it's lovely and expressive of place. And it belies the intensity that is here on the palate. The wine is powerful in flavor, very long, with complex mineral notes to complement the citrus and seashell flavors. It's so clean too, just a breath of fresh air. Light in body, absolutely intense in acidity - it bores through, but in a good way. Compelling wine. The color is essentially golden and the wine appears more advanced than it actually is. No shame in drinking this now, especially if you have a few. But this has years and years to go.
Rock and salinity and a citrusy freshness. Nothing characteristic of age that I can detect, but it's been a while since I had one. And just as good after a week in the fridge (don't ask why I didn't finish it the first night). A why-don't-I-have-more wine.

This seems as fresh and invigorating as it was when young, yet with an added dimension. Lively and bracing, but a somewhat creamy citrus quality gives it depth and interest. I'm just sorry this is my last bottle. A stellar wine, and it's simply amazing to get this kind of quality for the price.

Acidity seems to have died down a bit from bottles consumed near release, everything a bit broader. Not for giving tonight though, able to coax some aromatics and flavor out after some time in the glass, but I think this should be held for a while longer.

A special wine. Slender, graceful and balanced enough to catch a quick screen and slip down the sidelines untouched but also packing enough flavor, depth and complexity to dart, shoulders square, between the tackles somehow never allowing a direct hit.

Stubbie999 nailed it, I think. Fresh and lively with plenty of complexity and excitement draped over a core of elegance and purity. I wish I had a case, or two, but (very) sadly this is my last bottle. Complimenti Mr Dressner, bravo! 12,0% abv, ~ $15, drink thru 2019.

Well, yes, please. More of this. Grabbed the '07 by accident (thinking it was the '09) and only noticed after the cork was pulled. The last few years have let this relax - just a touch - and spread out a little. Still tons of citric acidity and flavors, saline, and hint of peach and clover honey. Not the laser beam it was a couple years ago, but only just twitching into adolescence. I suspect this has years to go yet, though it may be tough to find out between how damn delicious it is right now, and my constantly grabbing the wrong bottles. Glad there are a few more tucked away down there... [Seriously, less than $14? I dare you to show me something as compelling at that pricepoint.]

Wonderful wide-open Briords. All the usual suspects of seaspray, lemon acidity, and granite but ramped up almost to 05 Clisson levels (without the relatively lusher textural element of Clisson). Sometimes Briords can be fairly austere but this one is open and delightful.

Forget QPR, this is just one of the most consistently enjoyable white wines I can think of. Period. This vintage is no exception. Has it changed much since release? I'm not sure I can tell--it often seems almost ageless. I should leave some in the bottle and follow it over a few days--I know it just gets better and better--but it's so hard to resist and will no doubt get drunk up in one go.

Overall impression was of lightly brackish mineral water with a twist of lime. Clean white yellow. Crisp, minerals, salt, hard to coax a lot of fruit out other than lemon/lime, maybe faint apples, pears. Hold a bit.

Incredibly refreshing, light and mineral-driven with chalky, saline and oyster shell notes over citrus fruits. With a couple of air this becomes a bit rounder in the mouth and gains some interesting yeasty and biscuit-like elements. Very enjoyable and seriously good value at $12.

really a big fan of Muscadet's and this was right in my wheel house. I seem to always get this artisian soap on the these wines. Kinda weird but it's a good thing. Great acids, some light florals, good coating mouthfeel but refreshing. I was going red to white and back again and I like the how that inhances the profile of each wine.

Bajayngo comes to town; 9/13/2009-9/14/2009 (My house): tasted 24 hours after opening (corked and in the fridge) First of all, let me just say that i love the label. The font may be hard to read, but it's beautiful. Lemony oyster shells, with lime rind on the edges. Fuller at the attack, it fades on the midpalate and finish a touch too quickly. It's mouth puckering, and all that - in the end, a very good muscadet. Great pick.

8/21/09: Nothing more to add, but this stuff is terrific. 89+
2/11/09: Tasty stuff. Great precision. Some saline qualities, lemon fruits, with a layered mouthfeel, that ends with a lingering, satisfying finish. Great with fish, of course, but the glass after dinner went down pretty quickly as well. It's so refreshing, and each sip brings something new to the palate, that it's difficult for me not to drink this rather quickly.

Clear, light gold color. Palate reminded me first of grapefruit, with a lot of minerality and saline. Definitely a summer quaffer on the deck. Just a little spritz to liven things up. Yum! As it warms up, there is more apple and pear showing up on the palate. Nose reminds me of pear and honeysuckle.

Nice wine. Light aromatics. Hard to peg. Apples and rocks. At first the wine was a little cold. This displayed more at warmer temps. Not too distinctive. Acidity at the very front is big. White fruits and tons of acid. Mineral elements are peaking through a bit. A fairly simple wine.

Pale with greenish tint. Salty nose. Very light but very intense acid and stone. Zippy and incredible amount of flavor for its weight. Seems to be carved out of mineral more than fruit-I love this wine. This was a better showing than 9 months ago with more zesty acidity. I underestimated it then.

On day one, completely closed. No nose, on the palate quite thin, a saline quality with high acidity, finish not remarkable. A lot better on day two, fleshed out a bit, precise, but retaining a rain-water like lightness. Very good plus. Hold.

This bottle was opened five days ago and it was one lean, sharp mother. Tonight it is singing, with deep, crystalline citric intensity and saline, stony minerality. Still not entirely unwound but the body has filled out and is remarkably tactile, with good weight. The five day plan works for me, but otherwise this needs time.

Pretty severe at this point, but it fills out a bit overnight. Love the classic, austere profile but it doesn't seem as deep as the 2004, which this otherwise reminds me of. Always tricky to say with young Briords though. Will check in again in 6 months or so and in the meantime start drinking my 2005s.

This is a very fine young Briords, and a very classic Muscadet. With little more than a suggestion of fruit on the nose or the palate, this is all about firm minerality and tangy acidity. Lip-smackingly fresh and lingering on the palate. This will certainly unwind with time and open up, but it's great now for its verve.

My first muscadet, so not a lot to compare. Crystal clear color, someone said platinum/gold and that nails it. Nose is very floral, but reminds me of honeysuckle. Minerality and wet chalk in there too. On the palate there is salinity, a little spritz and tart apples with lemon. Think Granny Smith a little bit unripe. Fills in with remarkable length and body, but the acid dominates. Should do well with lots of types of food. One sip encourages another. I bought this with an eye to summer drinking at the lake, but it will be hard to keep my hands off till then.

Floral nose of pears with some minerally rainy sidewalk notes. Clean with strong minerality and pleasant acidity. This lack some fruit expression on the midpalate though. The 2nd night brings a note of straw to the nose with fresh cut lemon. THe palate os apple peal and grapefruit with a big tart finish. Terrific food wine and a minerality sluts dream. I'm not sure how this will age with the lack of fruit concentration but is a great refreshing drink now. Solid value at $15.

Not one for the ages: it doesn't have the zip or the intensity of a great year, like 2004. But the proportions are just right, and the trademark minerality hits the spot.

this may not be a candidate for long term cellaring, as briords typically is, but it is absolutely delicious right now - very giving at this stage. nicely balanced with ripe fruit, saline minerals, and just enough gentle acidity to hold everything together. delicious wine, easily could be the fall into winter go-to white.

A little effervescent now. I assume that will be lost with some time. A little fruitier and more open than Briords is at this point sometimes. Maybe won't be as long lived as some of the recent vintages, but it's nice now and certainly has years in front of it. Great acidity, salinity, with some citrus and limestone. For $13, one of my favorites.

Pale straw color. Lemon zest and a whiff of the sea. This starts out light, in fact somewhat dilute, but builds in the mouth to finish with driving, palate staining quinine, earth, and chalkiness that just last and last. To my palate, not especially high in acidity, although definitely crisp. Interesting wine. At first blush, it strikes me as a clearly a lesser wine than either the '05 or '06 Clos des Briords, but the intensity of the finish makes me wonder whether the entry and mid-palate will fill out with time, in which case I am underestimating it. I recorked the bottle and will retry it tomorrow.
Second night, not much change, so for now let's say at least very good. Retaste (and one can actually do this with Muscadet given the price!).

Exceptional nose of white peach, grapefruit, lemon rind, and a "wild flower meadow" component mix of floral notes, grass, and minerality. Medium platinum gold in the glass with just a little bit of spritz. Crystalline on the palate: pure and focused. White peach, grapefruit, floral notes, and minerality. Medium weight on the palate with beautiful razor sharp acidity and 12% ABV which is completely invisible. This is my second vintage of the Briords and once again I am most impressed with it's length. A minute plus and just when you think it's gone, it seems to come back for an encore.

Lighter in color than the regular Pepeire bottling (which was pastel green). Much tighter and reserved on the nose and palate. Loads of mineral (think wet limestone after a long, steady rain), white grapefruit, green honeydew, limeade and lemon cream each step up and politely make their way to the foreground. The acidity isn’t nearly as sharp as in the regular bottling, but it’s there and will be there years from now. A restrained and much more refined Muscadet than the regular bottling, but not a bottle to over look. Not by a long shot. 12% alc. With salmon in puff pastry. Highly Recommended.

A good but not great Briords. But of course a good Briords is a very good thing indeed. Dry, lots of minerals, a relatively round style but still quite penetrating. Less salinity and a touch less intensity than the best vintages. Will buy a few but not a case.

First of all, let me just say that i love the label. The font may be hard to read, but it's beautiful.
Lemony oyster shells, with lime rind on the edges. Fuller at the attack, it fades on the midpalate and finish a touch too quickly. It's mouth puckering, and all that - in the end, a very good muscadet. Great pick.

This is a very fine young Briords, and a very classic Muscadet. With little more than a suggestion of fruit on the nose or the palate, this is all about firm minerality and tangy acidity.

A little effervescent now. I assume that will be lost with some time. A little fruitier and more open than Briords is at this point sometimes.
