Beautiful, well structured and cool fruit. It’s almost blue and there’s the marks of earth and stone I’ve found in old Marcoux bottles recently. Very impressive and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Concentrated fruit and crushed violet. Creamy, thick, and sweet, almost liqueur-like with fully resolved tannins and no noticeable alcohol. At its best two hours after decanting, then declined slowly after that. Good now and not likely to improve.

Very much on the kirsch tonight, yet, freshness remains, some minerality also, and no pruny notes, just a very concentrated wine. It is enjoyable now, of you like the sweet fruit, not sure if it is going anywhere.

One of the few highlights of a less than perfect weekend, this wine once again proves, that Marcoux did well this year; no sign of heat, all though there is more stuffing here, than you usually find in this cuvée, and the cool, mineral exterior is intact. Drinking perfectly right now... #herreweekend2016

I bought 2 cases on release and have stored in perfect conditions. The wine in many of the bottles started started pushing through the corks by 2007. There is obviously something wrong with the corks used for this vintage.

Significant residue under the capsule, and seepage on the cork all the way to the top rim. The bottle didn't have overt oxidative signs, but it was quite one-dimensional and tart, and not what I would expect from a CdP at this age, nor what I would expect based on the other notes here.

This has certainly improved, and while one still senses the heat of the vintage, this is one of the strongest efforts this year; rich, deep, sweet fruit, lots of garrigue and local character, good balance, even my wife, the Burgundy-aficionado, liked it, which does go to show something. Perfect with braised lamb shanks...

Full bodied with dark fruit and black pepper. Nice long; yet subtle finish. We paired it with some roasted duck. '03 in CdP was said to be early maturing - perhaps in it's prime by 2015; but this has held up well.

2 Hour decant from Magnum. Very small hint of bricking on the edges, red fruits, caramel, licorice and hint of spice once on the palate. This has turned me to a CdP fan for sure now. It is not a bad drink but maybe because of the heat problems there is an inherent imbalance between fruit, wood and acidity that leaves the impression of a wine that has been stopped before finished.

Just a small hint of the vintage, but in the case of Marcoux it comes across as richness and flamboyance rather than the prune/raisin character, that is so sad; still young, but very approachable, round, rich, sweet, with the abundant alcohol well covered by fruit. Very nice.

A delicious 2003 just entering early maturity and absolutely worth the wait. Marcoux was just tremendously successful in 2003; wow do those sisters know their stuff! Not quite as rich as the 2003 Vielles Vignes but close, this is a pure framboise wine, with a deep pomegranate robe, very fragrant nose showing all sorts of spices and complexity, and a very long finish that starts sweet but becomes notable for its minerality and structure. Great wine.

Agree with other CT's... this is drinking superbly right now. Nice dark red, with a wonderful, soaring nose of dried red fruit, raspberry, garrigue, minerals and earth. Terrific in the mouth with a medium-full palate and very good balance. Maybe a touch toward the hot side, but not enough to limit our enjoyment of the wine. Palate was of sweet fruit, earth, and something else on the dark taste spectrum. Great finish. No need to wait. And hey, if you don't like them, send a case to this place!

2003 CdP tasting at Rothmann's Steakhouse, New York. This is more like it. Yummy red cherry/raspberry fruit combined with good freshness and balance. Not hot, roasted or over the top. This is the way Marcoux can be and should be. Will be interesting to follow over the next decade. By many voted in as one of the 2 best 2003 CdPs.

Aerate decant, let sit approx 90 min. Color dark maroon, medium-full body, clear. On the initial sniffy we have explosive kirsch, reduced cherry sauce, and resin in a largely primary presentation. After 2-3 hours the nose also had some smoked meat, lavender, and minerals. I was completely taken aback on the palate; this is a forward bomb, with ripe fruit (acknowledging its source of a very hot vintage) that coats and stains the mouth with jammy raspberries and cherries plus some minerals and sweet licorice settling into the tongue for a long finish of about 45s. Medium acid, and a formidable but friendly tannin structure. Although I enjoyed this very much, my primary concern was that the level of richness was almost offputting, such that neither our guests nor my spouse finished their glasses throughout dinner. This is a big wine that manages to keep the 15% ETOH at bay, and although there are other aromas and flavors to be savored, at this stage they are obfuscated by the intense fruit. I actually liked this more at the 6 hour mark when it became more flowery on the nose and palate, with lavender and violets joining plum in the long finish.

Very nice nose of ripe "cerises du nord" and bacon, mushrooms, wild game and some leather... it is incredible how the nose already gives tertiary aromas at thi stage... in the mounth, there is an incredibly long red ripe fruit taste, and some silky tannins... there is also some minerality and refreshing acidity at the end... this wine is getting better and better with age!!

Very jammy nose. Black cherry jam slathered on baked cherries and sprinkled with a few cloves and baking spices. Very fruit forward palate bringing black cherry, very ripe raspberries, and dark plum with hints of menthol and spice. If I had tasted it blind, I might have been very impressed, but knowing that it was a CDP, I was actually a little dissappointed because it didn't seem to bring the wet pine needle/balsam resin and the Rhone wild streak that I have enjoyed in other CDP.

Nose of crushed raspberry and subtle spice. Relatively full in the mouth with more fruit complemented by mid-palate sweetness and more subtle spice. Good tannic bite on the end suggesting that this wine is still young, although clearly coming of age. It's got everything in the right place: try again in another year or two?

Medium nose of Kirsch and cherries, "griottes amères", a hint of honey. In the month the wine was very delicate and feminine with cherries and very soft tannins. Nothing good on open, no nose, tight raisiny palate, very long but not pleasantly so. After 30 minutes decant, blossoming nose of earth and saddle, nice palate, massive length of earthy tones and underbrush, very nice. Two hours in becomes somewhat disjointed but still potent. Who knows where this will go.

$49.99 full retail. Initially, the nose was fairly reluctant, giving off only faint red fruit, anise and garrigue. 30+ minutes allowed this to open up considerably; in fact, my description of this would have been very differnent had I not allowed it to get some air... What emerged was an expressive, broad nose of earth, cocoa, anise, raisin, sweet, dried red fruit - more earthy than fruity. On the palate, quite traditional overall, with grainy tannins, expansive texture, some heat, and an impressively long finish. Drinking well now, though it does seem a little advanced for its age. I don't think this will be a long ager - a few (say, 3-5) years in the cellar should see this evolve into maturity, I would think. It just doesn't have the fruit, purity and balance to suggest this will be long-lived, but I could end up being surprised. Might buy a couple bottles to test my hypothesis... Opened side by side with the 2003 Beaurenard and the 2003 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-du-Pape (see TNs), the Marcoux had less fruit that leaned more to the dried fruit / raisin side of the equation than the other two wines. The Vieux Telegraphe has some similarities, but the red fruit is brighter / sweeter / more pure; the Beaurenard has a darker fruit profile and is more structured. (RV 6334)

This is a monster! I'm not too enthralled with the '03's I've opened so far and this is no exception. This has some dark, bitter (roasted?) qualities to the fruit and there is a ton of alcohol present. That said, there is depth to the wine and I can see how those who like huge wines might enjoy this. ***

Spring 06 TAC Vendor Sale (Tokyo American Club): A step up in ripeness and down in pleasure, but still not completely out of the game despite its very big and evident alcohol structure. A little less of the pretty red berry (though not absent) and a little more of the dark and jammy berry do a fair job of masking the alcohol, but they also seem to mask any earth/herb/leather that might want to come out. Not bad – in fact a good effort for a vintage I really don’t like much – but not up to the usual standard and not one I’m buying. ($35.80 at half-case lot)

Very similar to the Marcoux D&S 2003. No note entered because I don't trust the bottle (it may have been heated in shipment). But in fact it shows no signs of damage. A little more structured than the 2003 D&S... needs 2 or 3 years in the cellar.

Medium nose of Kirsch and cherries, "griottes amères", a hint of honey. In the month the wine was very delicate and feminine with cherries and very soft tannins. This is a great wines, but suffers from the comparaison with more powerfull wines... this is not a "competition" wine but is perfect with a delicate meal.

Nose is quite mute and strange acid taste in the mounth, must be defective bottle as a similar bottle showed much better 3 month ago (Not rated)

This is a beautiful balanced CDP. Beautiful ruby color, nice nose of dark red fruit. The tannins are mellow. There is a lingering rich finish. I will try to get more of this.

Very similar to the Marcoux D&S 2003. No note entered because I don't trust the bottle (it may have been heated in shipment). But in fact it shows no signs of damage. A little more structured than the 2003 D&S... needs 2 or 3 years in the cellar.
