  • Day 2. Stood up overnight in frig. With cork in. Today, a bit softer, fruit a bit more dominant, which says to me this may still be in a youthful stage. But still has an astringency and short finish that leaves me say its not a higher rated wine. But it probably has quite a full life ahead properly stored. And, who knows, 5-6 years from now might pleasantly surprise.

  • Revising my last note on this wine. Today it is a bit disjointed. The acidity dominates now, although fruit still around, but seems like it's just not all there. The nose is now very burgundian, with much more notes of soil and earth than bright fruit. Not a bad wine, but nothing to write home about.

  • A very strange, atypical Pinot Noir. VA on the nose is prominent, lacking finesse and complexity, kirsch-like red fruited. Mild earth, rose and asian spice relegated to the background. Big on palate, finishes with notable astringency. Significant tannin for the variety. Seems more like a Nebbiolo with a bit of age than a Pinot, though in any case the elegance and/or complexity one would hope for from either is not there. Did I wait too long? Or will this move into a more harmonious stage in a few years?

  • Unexpected pleasure with this pinot. Very warm, soft, sexy wine. Still a bit of Anderson Valley acidity, but everything seems to have just molded into a very pleasant overall pinot. Decent finish, fruit still vibrant both on nose and palate, more than I expected.

  • Tastes overwhelmingly of nail polish remover. Too bad, I was expecting great things based on my experience with a previous bottling.

  • Don't think I've ever seen such a wide assortment of CT tasting notes on a Pinot before....Wasn't sure what to expect as a result. The nose is cherry and a touch of something floral, and a little acetone (not enough to really overpower, but enough to be a little off-putting). Cherry, berry on the palate. Definitely more tannin than usual for a Pinot - which isn't bad, just different. Generally a round, fruity, long, pleasing finish, once you get used to the tannin being there. Nice, but not exactly a classic Pinot.

  • - Ruby color and aromas of orange blossom and grapefruit. It's balanced and has flavours of melon, orange blossom and grapefruit with a medium/full body. Satin-Like texture with a long finish.

  • Major improvements since the last time I tasted this wine a year ago. The overly tannic beast of a wine that I tasted last year has subdued and the fruit provides a wonderful, almost intoxicating smell of dark red fruits, rhubarb, and raspberries. The wine is quite spicy but there is enough balance of fruit and acidity to make the experience an enjoyable one. I would expect it to improve even more with aging.

  • Nose of rhubarb and raspberry, with notes of citrus and baking spice. Palate alternates between raspberry and cranberry, with a spicy finish. Obvious well made, but lacking verve. A bit boring.

  • Friday night at home following Ben's game a 29-8 win over Barringer. Karl came to the game we had oysters and pumpkin risotto and a "tasting" of 3 Roessler Pinots - the '06 Savoy, '07 Hein and '07 Sanford. Savoy came 3rd of the three with Hein and Sanford a virtual tie for WOTN. Karl took the remainders home.

  • It's hard for me to love this wine because it's a bit young at this point. The color is a light red-purple, typical of Pinots. The nose is not very appealing. The flavors are there - earthy, with some spice and black cherry - but the tannins are a bit overwhelming, at least for my taste when it comes to Pinot Noir. Also, and this is a personal preference, I prefer my Pinots to have a cola flavor and this has none.

I have some more bottles of this, so I will reserve judgement until I try again.

  • Nice, rich, earthy nose. Woodsy, dark fruit, earthy, mushroom flavors. Herbal and savory notes dominate. 25% whole cluster, 11 months in 40% new oak. Drink up.

  • Impressive. Classic Pinot color. Gentle/subtle nose - earthy and black fruit. Initially a bit close dout of the bottle. But after sixty minutes opened up beautifully. Cherry, earth and minerals on the palate. Light-medium bodied. Medium finish, but lovely while it lasts. First-class American Pinot noir!

  • Wow - bought this on woot.wine and don't remember whether there was a limit or not, but I should have bought whatever number that was. This is a killer bottle of Pinot. Bright fruit, mineral on the nose but not so much in the glass. Enough backbone to easily stand up to meats, but stellar with the ahi tuna steaks and shiitake mushrooms in cream sauce we had it with tonight.

  • Roses and violets on nose? Juicy, deep fruit, tannin, good acidity and mineral with a hint of oak on finish. Liked this wine a lot, with a star next to my notes. Best AV wine of the 8 we tasted.
