Yellow with gold tint. Expressive aromas of wet stones and citrus fruits and with air, a butter cream note. Full bodied and slightly rich with good underlying acidity that adds lift to the lengthy finish that includes a smokey note. This adds depth and weight with time. A four-square Puligny that the vintage emphasizes. This is drinking quite well and should continue to for a few years.

This was a tremendous bottle. I brought this to a Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin event where the theme was Puligny-Montrachet and it was very, very well received. In fact, it was one of the first bottles emptied out of a selection of 30+ different P-M wines. This is a deep wine, but with great mouthfeel and grace despite its size. Not overoaked. Big, present fruit allied to some dry minerality and stone. A wonderful wine.

2006 Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet Premiere Cru Tasting at Red Slate (Red Slate, Portland, Oregon): Beautiful sliced Braeburn apple shows on the nose. Some fried butter, and a hint of sweet pastry scents appear as well. It's delicate on contact with the palate, with richness evolving on the finish. The acid is subtle but firm, and it contributes to some good balance in the wine. The fruit reminds me of pears, but it's not definite. A bit of heat shows later, but everything is integrated pretty well already. 90-

This is showing a a bit more minerality and lift than the bottle a year ago. Otherwise, the aromas and flavors are similar.
