Part of my birthday celebration and funny because I had not realized that we'd had this wine before. Opened and it was a touch musty but that blew off with some time. And yet again I'm surprised to see how Zin ages. There's a nice precision in the wine and almost a metallic thing (which I have been liking in wines lately). We prob should have opened it and given it a bit more time. By the time we were getting the last glasses it was in a very good spot.

DIY Holiday BYO Dinner (Amali in NYC): Had never heard of this wine until last night but what a treat! Just beautiful and makes me reconsider my position on Zin (which in general Ridge wines do). It's been well-aged, dried fruits, leather, almost a bit old world in style. Beautiful wine.

Jimsomare Vertical at The White House (The White House, Anaheim, CA): Another year where they made a Monte Bell instead of a straight Jimsomare. This time with 73/27 - Jimsomare/Piccheti split. Very expressive nose showing baked red fruits and some eucalyptus. Juicy with round fruit but a tart clean crunchy acidic finish. This was the first wine I really liked on the night.
