Opened anticipating a dead wine, but still lively. Garnet, some caramel notes, but more impressive was the pencil lead, cedar, plum, still with a sweetness (not sugar, but fruit), long finish, because I thought I would need to pour it out, only had one glass on day one. Amazingly, over the next three days, increased in complexity and maintained a sweet fruit core.

Hard to believe how well this bottle held up for 36 years, the first half of its life in a closet! This was my last bottle, purchased by my late father in NY for about $3/bottle. Still good color, with the medium texture of a French bordeaux, rather than today's bigger, hotter California cabs, with fruit that is still vibrant. Nice long finish. A lovely surprise on a cold Colorado evening. Drink up!
