Butterscotch, and minerally, slight smoke, subtle honey on nose. Palate shows more citrus zip and herbs. Seemed broad and viscous at first but felt like it lost its umph pretty fast and was a bit watery mid to finish. Probably time to drink up.

Herbally and a bit reserved not showing the richness I in my last go around until the second night. The herbal character was something like less than ripe fruit. Rounds out some of the second night but seems a bit off or going in the wrong direction. Should probably be drunk up anyways so don't wait.

Smokey buttery caramel notes that add up to a tasty package. I wish this was leaner and more minerally but since the rich flavors don't come in a fat package this carries for me. Tasty without being big. Easy winner at $12.

TN: Amarones, Soves and Ports: Perhaps starting to show a bit of age. The nose is full with seltzer, minerals and apples. A bit harsh on the palate and slightly bitter on the finish. It is full with an oily texture. I like it and if not for the Gini, it might have showed a bit better. I would drink up and then buy the 08.

Journey through the Adriatic (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): pale lemon color. nick calls 'movie popcorn.' that is there, but then my subsequent note doesn't mention. lemon pith with a really dry minerality in the nose. textural nose. hints at richness, but kind of quiet really. palate is quiet and mineral driven. M acid.

Perfumed and ripe, this manages to stay balanced (if a tad sweet) and is an excellent QPR at less than $15. Very enjoyable, very food friendly. Drink up though, the acidity and fruit are showing signs of tiring.

This wine was light on everything. Very light color, very light stone fruit aromas, light nutty and citrus flavors, and such a light finish that I'm not even sure it can be called a finish. When you swallow, the flavors (that were barely there to begin) go away. If water could be a wine, this is probably what it would be. We tasted this after an Alsatian Pinot Gris that had very nice acidity. That probably didn't help our impression of this weak Soave.

clear pale straw color, this wine has vibrancy and aliveness to it, fresh tropical fruit aromas, apple and citrus flavors with vibrant minerals, finishes crisp with just a hint of stone, balanced acidity, dry, had without food, used some to cook, good value

Light yellow. Typical garganega nose, pineapple lemon and stone. Sweet fruit on entry with a very dry refreshing finish. Always one of my favorite whites.

Tasted July 31, 2008 as part of the WinExiles tasting for July.
12.5% alcohol. Lot L.C0408. Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of lime, citrus, seafoam and apple. Flavors of lime, apricot, lychee and a hint of grapefruit on the fairly short and expected so finish. Medium to tangy acidity, light body. Drink now. Decent little back porch sipper in hot weather presuming you can get it for a decent price, recommended let's say around the $15.00 mark.

Serviceable, but bland - not much on nose or palate.

NOSE: not expressive or complex; some pluot.
BODY: light orange-yellow color; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: very minerally; watery orange flavor, with a hint of sandalwood spice. Pretty boring, but otherwise inoffensive.
B: 50, 5, 10, 12, 5 = 82

Good acid! Tasted 1 of 5 that night and don't remember anything else about this one, perhaps honey on the nose.

Good acid! Tasted 1 of 5 that night so don't remember much about it. May have had honey on the nose, but a very crisp almost dry flavor.

Crisp, fruity, lovely finish. A touch of acid keeps this wine from being a 90.
