At a bar in Paris on a family trip. I have not had a bottle of Duval Leroy in years. Light yellow gold. Ripe red apple, wild strawberry, Maraschino cherry, biscuit, warm brioche, and smoke, with medium-plus acidity, and good length. The mousse is comprised of medium-sized bubbles and a little coarse. A riper expression of champagne, with pleasant light bitterness on the finish. The plastic aspect I already noticed in bottles I had years ago is still there - sort of my Duval Leroy tell-tale sign. A pleasant champagne, and very good value.

First of all, I bought two cases for approx 32 euros a bottle here in Sweden. Opened a bottle to try out. After some sips I immediately bought another two cases.
What a fantastic nose! High level perfyme that only Pinot Noir delivers. Stone smoke, roasted nuts, nougat, red cassics and wild strawberries.
Palate is tight with deep zingy acid and a clear unripe bitter character. Creamy and long finish. Palate is in line with nose.
Way too young at the moment and needs quite some cellartime. Has great potential. QPR at 32 euros is just laughable.

Deep yellow color. Pronounced, developing aromas of custard, lemon, kumquat, orange, brioche, bread, green apple, slight a bit of caramel. Creamy mousse, high acid, dry, med alcohol, med body, long finish. Surprisingly tasty with a lot of ripe citrus fruits and yeast. If you like yeasty notes in champagne, this is a fantastic value because it’s hard to find yeasty characters at sub $60 champagne. Drink now.

Good value, full of green fruits and yeasty notes, this is a very solid and balanced crowd pleasing champagne, with some spiciness (sweet spice) and nutiness, and it goes well with so many food, for something under US$40, one might consider trying this if not the traditional 4 mainstream NV champagne (Moet, VC, PJ, Mumm).

Good entry level champagne that held up remarkably relatively well for far longer than it should have. After a decade in cellar, it still has rich red cherry and strawberry fruit and a mineral depth that indicates a depth of meunier. Impeccably balance of acid, mineral and fruit has held up, even as wine has matured and developed some mushroom notes. Lots of toast, too.

Hesitated whether to add this. Wine from this bottle golden, not sure this is only from PN because it seems to have lost something ... storage? (I doubt it but maybe.) I bought it at Total in Houston, no past issues. The flavors described by others are somewhat present, muted. The finish is short and uninteresting, wine sweeter than ideal given lack of complexity. I checked the flawed bottle, not sure. Having screened all the NV champagnes of modest prices, tried several sub $40, I've moved up. Soon I will be at my favorite for which I don't want to spend, Bollinger Special Cv. There are other champagnes in the past I've liked as much but this one hits it (other than the luxury cuvees ... not buying Dom, even at Costco).

Good drinking Champagne. Just enough quality to enjoy thoroughly. Not gonna change many lives, but that's ok for a Sunday morning, right? Smells Pinot dominant, with enough freshness backed up with Chardonnay. Nice.

Citrus, dough, baked pie crust, sour apples and toast points. Complex and medium plus finish. I had this for about 2 years and the cellaring has paid off.
Light amber color with gold accents. Column of fast pearls of bubbles making a noticeable mousse. Ripe pear & green apple aromas. Apple, citrus, elderflower palate. An enjoyable finish balancing complexity & drinkability. Swiss business class ZRH-SFO.

1979 vs 1985; 6/15/2019-6/16/2019 (SLC): For a low priced entry level Champagne this isn't bad. Nice fruit profile, less mineral and depth than higher quality Champagne, but still enjoyable.

I always find Duvel Leroy to be an outperforming NV champagne. Lovely aperitif - fine vivacious mousse, apple, dough, lemon/lime, zesty but balanced. Makes you reach for a top-up pretty quickly.

Always offers great value and something for everyone. The preponderance of red grapes in this blend (60% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier) gives great body and lift. Apples, bread, and almonds round out the well balanced palate.

Opened for NFL games and Australian Open Tennis today, nose of brioche, slate, shale, with a touch of honey, citrus, and toast, more of the same on the palate, very big body, nice mousse, lots of tiny bubbles, tasty, easy to sip and savor today, and a long, long finish.

Etihad Business CLass & Lounges; 9/24/2017-9/29/2017 (Sydney, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt): Fresh bakery aromas, with melon, lychee and even some strawberries. Palate is crisp, light/medium-bodied, with plenty of creamy-textured small bubbles. The flavours are a bit restrained, but there’s plenty of chardonnay character evident, and not so much autolysis as you expect from the nose. The finish is a bit on the short side though.

12.0% - Clear, med lemon / clean, med intensity - citrus, apple puree, brioche / dry (... not bone dry with a perception of residual sugar), high acidity, med to light body, med to pronounced intensity, med length. Certainly not bad, but I've had better showing of this wine... At the same price point, I'd rather get a Louis Roederer or a slightly ess expensive Pol Roger, Pommery...

Slightly mature, generous and fruity on the nose. White flowers, newly boiled jasmine rice, pears and almond icing.
Balanced with good body on the palate with an excellent zingy acid on the midpalate that reminds me of sour sweets. Aftertaste is longer than most champagnes in this price range.
First encounter with duval-leroy for me. Spot on, my coup of tea. Will try this again soon.

Base vintage 2010. 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir. A bit chalky on nose and palate, fresh and precise. Green fruit, white stone fruit. Decent length, quite refreshing. Very good. 88-90

More softness, finesse in first glass, with a widely ranging palate of lemon, apple, yeast, and crusty bread, and even some slight fruit sweetness. With air an anisette note develops in the core of the bouquet and tends to dominate a palate of hazelnut, a shale-y minerality, and more crusty bread - pleasant, but just a touch more sherried than I had wished. Still, delicious.

Half bottle cost $14.50 in 2007 and I paid $24 recently. Inflation! Not a bad champagne but to me it didn't taste like it should cost $24 for a half bottle, though real champagne is worth it.

Straw yellow in the glass, soft bubbles, aromas lead with citrus blossom, palate features baked fruit notes, apple, tropical fruit with a nice finish of honey.
Pale yellow. Tight small bubbles. Granny Smith apples, Meyer lemon, bread on the nose and palate. Clean, crisp finish. Well done for a NV Champagne. Decent value too.

This is an excellent NV Brut, which outclasses the big labels and is richer, more masculine than the many grower alternatives out there, which tend to be on the drier side. Balanced, rich, tight bubbles. On the nutty, biscuity side, but not as doughy as Roederer NV. Great value.

The bubbles start a bit aggressive in the glass, but quickly smooth out. Apples, chalk, and yeast on the nose. Really bright acidity, but the palate is rather simple, with apple and toasted bread notes. A well made wine, but not as complex as I like. This bottle was in the cellar for 6 months. A bit more age might be beneficial.

Pretty similar experience to andtheodor’s tasting note: The wine was medium lemon in colour, with a medium intense, medium fine perlage. It offered apple, lemon, strawberries with cream, biscuit and a weird plastic component on the nose. On the palate the champagne showed apple, lemon, biscuit and cream, with creamy mousse, medium to medium-plus acidity and average length. A solid, medium-bodied, medium-rich champagne that failed to spark excitement. Seemed young.

Medium-deep greenish-yellow color. Nicely toasty, rich and autolytic nose with aromas of toasted bread, some citrus fruits, a little bit of delicate nuttiness and a touch of darker fruit tones. The wine is dry, crisp and surprisingly broad-shouldered on the palate with quite intense and surprisingly autolytic flavors of toast, chopped walnuts, ripe citrus fruits, some red apples, a little bit of yeastiness and hints of red fruits. Great focus with structured, high acidity. Very lengthy and balanced, albeit a bit rough mousse. The finish is dry, crisp and acid-driven with more lemony citrus fruits than autolytic character with a little bit of chalky minerality, subtle bitterness and a hint of roasted almonds.
A surprisingly serious, toasty and all-in-all impressive NV Champagne for one from a bigger house. Combines nicely power and elegance. Drinking wonderfully now, but shows good potential also for short-to-medium-term cellaring. Impressive and a positive surprise.

Just bought this half bottle a couple weeks ago. The price has doubled since I last had this champagne, although I bought it from a more expensive store this time, and it's been 7 years! Was $15, now $30. This vendor usually has fresh wines, not old ones (obviously some wines are meant to be "old," but you know what I mean). But this particular bottle doesn't have as pleasant a nose as I recall from the other bottle. The nose seems a little tired, past its prime. On the palate, however, I'm getting good flavour: freshly kneaded sourdough; lime; and lemon. This is not my favourite brand of champagne. I prefer Jacques Copinet. But this is a respectable champagne. Overall value: 3.5 stars of 5. Excellent (86.5-87).

This is a champagne that is "vineous" (as is mentionned on the back label) with a low perceived acidity. Nicely done - it was quite consensual within a large audience (20 attendeees). At ~20€, it is a strong contender to higher-end champagnes with more prestigious names

out for tasting (Oinoscent): Clear medium yellow color. Clean in the nose with medium+ intensity, lemon fruit and leaves, pineapple, light biscuit notes, delicate and youthful with the yeast notes getting stronger with time. The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, acidity is high and medium alcohol. Lemon tones, with pineapple and mango, biscuit while the CO2 cuts through the creaminess wtih east, pear and apricot scented medium finish. Outstanding quality, drink now or hold

A blend of PN 60%; PM 30% and C 10%. Base wine is 2008 with some reserve wines in the mix.
Youthful lemon color with pale green highlights. Somewhat restrained, delicate nose with nuanced aromas of ripe apple, some darker-toned fruit, a little biscuity autolysis and hints of toasted bread crumbs. On the palate the wine feels very dry and quite acid-driven with somewhat robust flavors of ripe apple, some tart lemony notes, a little autolytic brioche character and hints of darker cherry Pinosity brooding in the background. The wine feels quite expansive and rather powerful, yet it is still more about lightness and elegance than volume. The mousse feels quite light, fine and rather smooth, yet pretty persistent. The long finish feels a bit sweeter than the midpalate with more emphasis on the ripeness; there are flavors of ripe red apple, classy chalky minerality, some hints of red fruits and a touch of autolytic nuttiness and hints of custard pastries.
For a big-house entry-level NV Brut, this is a positively classy and even somewhat complex effort, showing both structure and finesse. There is enough stuffing to make the wine develop over a handful of years in a cellar, but it is drinking very nicely right now. Lovely on its own, but also a reliable food wine with its bright acidity. Very approachable style and a nice example of NV Brut. Good value at 36,90€.

One of the best NV champagnes, that was open for business after spending the night in the refrigerator after drinking the initial glass. First night decent acid mineral backbone and nose of green orchard fruit and some white floral and pitted fruit. Not terribly complex or long in finish but acceptable for a sub $30 champagne or any sparkler for that matter. The 2nd day is where things became interesting. Again beautiful white florals, with a distinct nose of white chocolate and chopped toasted almonds, and a touch of hazelnut. The fruit became more distinguished with green tart bartlett pear and a touch of pippin apple. The mineral backbone was present but had softened a touch, but a touch of tangerine citrus really helped out. I'm very impressed with this latest NV from Duval-Leroy as it seems that they are getting their house style down to an easy drinking food friendly wine that hold up to most anything. The champagne seemed to be almost creamy the 2nd day, but still plenty of bubbles and mousse so nothing to worry about. I wouldn't hesitate on buying a her or full case of 12 and drinking them over the next 5-6 years. The finish on day 2 was medium to long with the fruit remaining and a touch of pleasant bitters. Well done D-L!

After several bottles, this is OK. I drink more grower Champagne these days, but I buy Duval for others and for price for certain occasions. Out of brands, I like them because they are family owned. The Champagne is blend-like in character. I prefer more distinctive elements to my bubbles, but again, I keep dome Duval for those occasions. I am enjoying it today.

A Week Respite in the United Arab Emirates; 4/8/2013-4/14/2013 (Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates): Popped and poured. I really dig the wines from Duval-Leroy. My third experience and I think they're really underrated. This really showed up the Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial we had later in the week (didn't even bother taking notes on that one). This was fresh and focused. Tiny, active, steady beads. A touch of a yeasty element, some brioche. Some green apple and a light touch of citrus. Really satisfying.

Wanted to score this 91 but when compared to the Billecart-Salmon it was lacking but not by much. A VERY good champagne and for a half at 17.00 well worth the money. My only issue is not the initial attack of great citrus, etc. but the somewhat flat dry finish. Straw color with tiny bubbles. Drinks like an aged champagne with apricot, yeast, citirus notes which release into a full mouth feel with great acidity and minerality with a chalkiness on a dry finish.

Retailers always push this at me when they get a chance as an example of a great value in champagne. I think it's priced about right at $25. I like the material but find this lacking a bit of refinement. Pungent grapefruit, mineral and biscuit flavors but a tad turbulent and chewy in the mouth. A bit oxidative but not annoyingly so. See how the remainder comes off tomorrow night.

Yeast/bread, banana, white peach, and subtle sawdust on the nose. On the palate, somewhat bright apple, musk melon, and additional sawdust notes. Light acidity. Also, aggressive bubbles.

Old label, molded cork, so this has seen some bottle age. same as previous note, with a little softer palate impression, and a bit more lemon on the back end. Not a classy fizz, but adequate. Side by side with a NV Lenoble Nature, this seemed a bit more clumsy.

Shells, lemon, spice, yeast and orange peel. Sharp acidity and really too much earth on the palate and the fruit is struggling to shine through. Average N.V. Champagne.

Didn't have time to take notes, but good acidity, and good weight. Has just enough softness to drink alone, but still enough zip and drive to easily work with an appetizer, especially lemon seafood dishes. At $36, I'll probably buy 2 more bottles.

Nose: Great nose! Apple, pear and a candy-like scent, almost like Nerds. Taste: Very tiny bubbles, barely there. A little bit of lemon on the approach, sour cherry on the mid-palate/transition and then something bitter and almost soapy on the finish.

Ordered with dinner tonight at The Senate in Cincinnati. Light straw with fine, tiny bubbles. Open nose of yeast, pear, and light tropical fruits. Deep soulful palate of pear, apple, bread and milk chocolate. Wonderful length. Food-friendly, crisp acidity. Loved it.

Light straw color. Nose shows a wonderful vanilla, with toast, minerals, and green fruit. The palate has bright pear and green apple, yeast, minerality, lively acidity and a refeshing clean finish. Also some of the smallest bubbles ever! Outstanding QPR.

Did not take detailed notes, didn't really remember having purchased it, but I see it's only $30 and am quite pleasantly surprised. Great rich mouthfeel but had the balance to keep it from getting tiring. Was really pleasant by itself and proved a reasonable, if unconventional, pairing with spicy Thai food.

Ahhhh nothing like calamari and a good Sparkler! This Champagne is very refreshing with green apple, baked pear, ginger ale, fresh yeasty apple pie crust, lemon florals. Nice airy mousse, firm citrus acidity....little mineral funk as well. Really easy drinkin, tasty Champagne.....super qpr at $29.

It's been quite a while since I have had this wine. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's just meh. This time, however, it's actually quite good. Creamy notes of yellow apples, bread dough, and lemon curd. Rich and tangy finish. Slightly generic as far as Champagne goes, which is not surprising given the fact that D-L is a rather large producer, but for $32 it kicks ass. At this price, there's absolutely no reason to drink Moet or VC, which are far far inferior. Nor most similarly priced growers for that matter. 88-89 points.

Finished over 2 nights. I had been worried about these bottles as I had bought them some time ago. No need. Crisp, clean, with a hint of green apple, this was just perfect, and on day 2 good richness and depth. Super value at $25.

Celebratory retirement cuvee for Anne from .375. Aromas and flavors of green apple, toast and distillled hay. Just enough sweetness to keep it fresh and appealing. Good stuff holding strong for properly stored bottles.

Very Good to Excellent (85-89): This is my house bubbly, aka Mother-in-law's bubbly or wife's work friends bubbly. Very strong QPR in a hard category to find value. This has been in the fridge for a couple years and is missing something at this point. Drink these when you buy them. Nice yeasty and nutty notes that this price does not usually bring to the table. Also, this Brut keeps the sweetness low and in balance. Drink and enjoy...AMM

Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with fine, steady beading. Nose of yellow apples, yellow pears and a hint of earthiness. Flavors of Granny Smith apples, limes and cherries. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink over the short term. No visible disgorgement date but based on the bottle appearance and palate profile seems to be a recent release.

Straw-yellow with golden hues. Yeasts, apple and a funky, aldehyde-like smell that persisted for very long and did not fade away completely until the end. Mid-bodied with nice fruit and intense vegetality. Maybe an off-bottle. No score.

Good for a mass produced NV. Clearly a Pinot Noir driven cuvee, influenced by a little wood. Nose of dried citrus and honey, a little buscuit. Palate follows the nose and quite a full body. A good minerality to balance the sustained finish. Overall pretty good. Somewhere between an aperitif wine and wine to go with food. There are much better, and more unique, grower Champagnes to be had for the nearly the same money.

Impression exactly as per previous note last May; don't quite see the lofty WS score and this was cellared for a number of months in hopes of giving it a little age. Still, squarely excellent with toasty bread and nuts accompanying fresh citrus flavors. Very nice toast and minerals with citrus in a lengthy finish. Excellent pairing with New Year's Eve caviar on blinis with creme fraiche and scallion. Cheers!

Priorats / Champagne - A Solo Vino Homework Assignment (Lake Elmo): Pleasant enough, but missing something, at least initially. Seems just a bit clipped/sharp on the finish. This might be one of those NVs that would benefit from a year or two in the cellar (ala the Heidsieck Blue Top from a couple of years ago). At present, this one walks the "no man's land" between crisp/focused vs medium-bodied/rich. For my palate, not a great place to be. Flavors get better, more integrated the longer it's in the glass, at the expense of some liveliness and "pop". Even with the somewhat tepid review, I'll pick up some more, because I think this could be a very nice house champagne....next year.

Bought a case a couple of years ago and definitely showing some age. Carmelized, almost oxidized fruit with lower acidity and fine bubbles. Should have been consumed a year or so ago, I fear, although three years (I believe this was from late '06 stock) should not ruin a fine champagne held at 55F (my cellar).

I was afraid after about three years in storage, that this might be over the hill for a NV champagne. Instead it was nice, yeasty, complex, perhaps just a bit oxidized but not obnoxiously so. Nice bottle for an aged NV.

On the friendly side of excellent, but don't quite see the WS93. A nice frothy mousse with fresh nose of lemon, pear, yeasty bread. Expressive citrus on the palate stretches into nuts and minerals on the mid, which was my favorite part. Good acidity, length relatively short. A pretty good QPR and will likely buy again.

First up for the New Years Eve celebration with Ally and Karen. 1/2 bottle. Superb bouquet of crisp apple, biscuit, honeysuckle, followed by inticing razor edge flavors of granny smith apple, citrus undertones with just enough sweetness to leave you wanting more. Aromas similar to a light bodied Sauv Blanc. I'm not a huge Brut fan, but this is really good. Crisp tight acidity all the way, miniscule bubbles and not overly carbonated. Very much look forward to the other halves in the future.

this has been the most enjoyable non-vintage of the year with the exception of the costly Krug. For under $40.00 you get a smooth drinking, well crafted champagne that has clear a taste of john-a gold apples and pie crust with a hint of pink grapefruit. This wine is so smoth to drink without any bitterness on its yummy finish.

A very drinkable – and even enjoyable – Champagne, but really lacking any wow factor for me at a $40/bottle price point. Pale yellow color. Fine bead. Citrus nose. Lots of lemon on the palate. Very crisp with a clean finish. Medium-bodied. This Champagne is more than drinkable, but I can think of quite a few better options for the price.

From the looks of the cork and the taste of the wine, this particular bottle has some age on it. And that's a very good thing. This has the terrific ginger, citrus and yeasty qualities of earlier bottles, but they are all better integrated. Also a little smokier than the earlier bottles. Great length on this, too. Staggering value here. Slightly better than the earlier bottles (90-91). 91-92.

Enjoyable nose, with a touch of toast to go with the bright, appley fruit. Clean, with good fruit on the palate. Made in a moderate, somewhat easy going style, it still has more character then Pommery, Cliquot, and many of the other big champagne houses, but this is less then all of them. This is as close to a value champagne that can be found anymore. Easy reccommend.

On the nose there are scents of yellow delicious apples, dipped in the caramel that I used to get when I was a kid...it's almsot like being at the fair without all the noise, animal feces, and screaming kids.
In the mouth there is the flavor of little apples I used to pick as a kid..they are both red and green at the same time...but I'm not sure the name...and I'm too lazy to look in the kitchen. Followed with a light pineapple, caramel, and a bit of orange peel. The finish is smooth and lengthy...

Not as good as previous bottle from New Year's eve. Has been in and out of refrigerator which may have taken off some of the sparkle. It just seemed a bit flat. These were purchased at the end of '06 so have a year of bottle age on them and probably need to be consumed by the end of '08, although generally speaking, I continue to enjoy the wine and do not see any signs of premature aging.

This wine has 75 % PN and 25 % Chardonnay. It definitely reflects that. Being one that prefers the balance switched (or PN eliminated entirely) I cannot include it in my favourites, which is not to say it is not good. Scores seem to indicate otherwise. Golden straw colour, with a strong bead, muted nose I noticed, some toast, notable fruit, sort of cherry, good acidity. It seemed to improve in the glass over time, suggesting initial impression was too hasty.

That's more like it. This bottle still showcased bright pear/apple and citrus fruit but had significantly more depth and power in the mouth, where it was rich with almond. This champagne has been a curious one, sometimes light and zesty (when it seems a bit unbalanced and thin) and then, as in this bottle, showing surprising richness... Score reflects tonight's bottle.

Lovely. Yes. Faint yeast on the sigh. Beautiful dancing bubbles. Dry but not too. Kind of a mingling of light citrus and orchard fruit and a bit of almond on the finish. 375 ml. Light color. Slightly clumsy nose, with loose aromas of apples and citrus. On the palate, this is a rather round, youthful, fruity stlye of Champagne, with, again, that same clumsy quality that recalls less expensive negociant Champagne - not bad, just lacking the precision, harmony and elegance one might hope for in Champagne... This would work fine with foods with which you would pair a sparkling wine, but might worry a more expensive Champagne would not be able to really show its stuff. The extra fruit and roundness might allow it to handle a bit more spice than, say, a drier style of Champagne...

Pretty simple stuff with a lot of brutish bubbles. Nevertheless, the racy palate does show a bit of citrus, there's an interesting chalky note throughout, and the finish is commendably long. At about $28, you could do better and you could do worse.

With air an anisette note develops in the core of the bouquet and tends to dominate a palate of hazelnut, a shale-y minerality, and more crusty bread - pleasant, but just a touch more sherried than I had wished. Still, delicious.

Drank with Valentines Day dinner. Straightforward, solid Champagne. Apples and brioche on the nose. Medium bodied with nice citrus and tree fruits mixed with minerals and seashell. Decent length. Paired very well with Hazelnut crusted Halibut and Dungeness Oscar with sauteed veggies. A good wine for a dinner focused more on the company and food than the wine.

It seemed to improve in the glass over time, suggesting initial impression was too hasty.

Lovely. Yes. Faint yeast on the sigh. Beautiful dancing bubbles. Dry but not too. Kind of a mingling of light citrus and orchard fruit and a bit of almond on the finish. This is my go-to price point for champagne and D-L never disappoints. There are a few from small producers that I prefer when I can achieve them, but I do like D-L when they are unavailable to me. Drink more champagne!

Pale straw in color with a pleasing nose. Slight hints of apple and muted citrus. Small bubbles that lasted a long long time. Not yeasty* Truely one of the best of the moderately priced French Champagnes.

Where has French champagne been my whole life? This has more to it than the CA sparklers I've had. I'm not a big sparkler fan but this was a very dry almost yeasty wine that I really enjoyed. The finish especially is where I noticed the difference.

New Year's Eve w/ Kev & Lu. Good, solid Champagne. Good balance. Not as powerful as prior bottles. Perhaps served too cold, or just too much wine through the evening.

Nice color, a bit more golden than straw. Very smooth but a bit light on the finish. Flavors/aromas of straw, a little yeast, and some apple and pear. Could have used a bit more body.

Young, with notes of yeast and toast give way to a slightly creamy texture.

Very light, lacking in character. Pleasant but kind of boring. Better Champagnes available at less cost.

Light-medium gold colour. Aromas of apple, pear, and brioche. Medium-bodied, with replays from nose. Great mouthfeel with wonderful acidity. Moderate finish, 35s, with white fruit.

Light in color with aromas of green apple and citrus. More crisp that the Veuve with a yeasty palate filled with citrus flavors (orange rind, grapefruit) with a nice long finish. Went really well with the fried calamari. HS91

Not bad, but at $35/bottle, I love the vintage '96 Duval-Leroy much more. Still big in style, but "spoiled" by the vintage '96.

Drank this New Year's Eve. I thought is was good, but there are other Champagnes I like better for the money. I found it a little simple on the front although, it had a nice long finish. I would buy it again for $20 but, not for $30.

Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering. Somewhat cheesy and leesy on the nose. Fairly clean and simple on the palate with hints of almond and some nice creaminess.
