Definite crowd pleaser with its sweet Barossa fruit and vanilla. First time back to this wine in a year and it hasn't changed much at all. I might have to leave the remaining 6 in a dark corner and forget all about them as this may need another decade to move away from the powerful fruit.

A touch fuzzy and plummy and rather lacking in freshness or acidity. A poor bottle perhaps, but the feeling remains that these wines need to be drunk now.

Had some bottle variation with this wine, but this particular bottle was singing. Layers of dark fruit, all well integrated and harmonious. It is clearly 'New World' but in the nicest way. Enjoyable stuff.

Maturing nicely at the moment, this bottle had very prominent oak but the depth and structure of the fruit handles it well. Long finish if somewhat foresquare at times.

Seems like a drink-early style new world Shiraz and then you realise it's already 8 years old. Good fruit and depth and developing a little complexity (and chocolate?). Maybe not for syrah purists but one of the best value wines I've had in years. Colour says this has many years in it but length is not huge. Look forward to the next one in 2 years.

I usually shy away from aussie shiraz (the enamel on my teeth tends to disolve on contact with most of it) but this one was too good to pass up - £12 for a 2001 on offer seemed like someone had screwed up somewhere with the pricing and currency conversion but apparently it was all above board. Nice semi-resolved colour - strange nose at first (saw dust) but then this passes to reveal teasing notes of blue berries, menthol, white pepper. Taste - classy fruit, nice soft palate - none of that aggresion you get with younger aussies wines - some plummy fruitand then nice structure coming through - good tannins and the heat is kept in check, a lingering finish. Good balance. Like an aggresive aussie rules football player who is all punched out and ready to settle down and start doing the school run. Will age for a few more years.

I don't drink much Aussies, but this one was a really good wine. Big, but not too big. Finely balanced and complex. A bit short on the finish, but extremely delicious overall. For about €15 this was an amazing QPR. I have another bottle that is going to rest for five years still.

Excellent Barossa shiraz. Well developed nose and restrained fruit on the palate. Refined and elegant, but big nonetheless, all the things you look for in Aussie shiraz but rarely find. Drinking very well now but can also be enjoyed for the next 4 or 5 years.

Last bottle of this. What a shame! It's lovely stuff: smooth, rich and thoroughly enjoyable with a rib-eye steak and chips.

Plenty of fruit and power with some coffee and butterscotch developing. Just seems a bit disjointed compared to previous bottles.
