Most likely way past drinking window, so tough to give a fair review. I rarely drink whites so these end up hiding for too long in the cellar. I'll just sum it up with the fact I took one sip and dumped the rest down the sink.
In DC with Jen, Sue, Rex & I and the roast pork tenderloin with sage, stuffing and apples. This wine was distinguished as the only drinkable riesling sold by Safeway. The wine was very good -- esp. for its $12 retail, very good QPR. Lovely notes of pear, apple & honeysuckle. An excellent pairing with the roast pork tenderloin, stuffing and apples.
I was a little concerned cracking this one out for a fancy holiday like Thanksgiving, but man- I really like this wine and it didn't disappoint. Might turn off people who are sensitive to residual sugar (but that's not me so 90 points it is).
On the sweeter side, with full flavors of ripe pear and apple cobbler, with a dash of cardamom on the finish. The wine sports just enough acid to keep it fresh on the palate, but there's little flair here. Hard-pressed to recommend, except perhaps to fans of sweeter New World Rieslings.
Bought this one on a recommendation from a Drinking Buddy on Corkd, and boy did he give me a good tip! This wine was fabulous. Bursting with incredible aromas of ultra-ripe pears and golden delicious apples. The thing that made this so great was that it was so balanced. Not too sweet, yet full of flavor. It was crisp, so it didn't leave residual saliva in my mouth (that some Rieslings do as if they're apple juice). Great stuff- highly recommended. Must buy again.
