Port and stewed raisins. Drank it side by side with an 08 Pignan and it suffered. These overdone CDP just aren't for me. It fought the food and remained high alcohol port throughout night without resolution.

Opened a few hours before drinking but it would have benefited from decanting as it evolved nicely over the course of the meal. Dark fruit, plum and a hint of chocolate; very integrated fruit and floral on the nose; little tannin and drinking beautifully.

Really liked it a lot. Perfectly matured. Herbs with sweet raisins, red fruit, some barn yard and a velvet mouthfeel. Ridiculous good for a budget-cndp!

Definitely exceeded expectations. Red fruit, liquorice, and garrigue. Medium-to-full bodied. Fruit is ripe, but not over-the-top as too many 2003 CDPs are (IMO). A little bit of heat would be the only detracting point. Improved over 3 days, indicating a much longer life than I would have thought. Ridiculous QPR for the $18 I paid.

Saturday Afternoon/Evening at Fernando's (Queens, NY): Medium ruby color. Big nose of ripe raspberry syrup with floral elements and a touch of walnut oil and earthiness. On the palate it is very nice up to the finish, whereupon it turns a touch bitter and falls off. Lots of fine tannins as well; may be a touch overextracted or at least need a few more years to resolve. Some noted excessive alcohol on this, but I did not.

Non.

Pleasant nose....modern style? Young and full bodied, earth and fruit mingle nicely, licorice. Might buy again if I find it on sale. Needs time to settle down.

1/19/2014 - pa81 Likes this wine:
Rust/brown edge, showing age. Good red fruit aromas. Resolved tannins; smooth. Not a ton of complexity, but a pretty good bottle.
Day 2 - similar, but i liked better on day 1.

A lovely chateauneuf. Ecellent, medium-bodied, good finish. Portends well for others of the vintage.

Full aroma. Seems to have high alcohol content. Lots of cherry, but alcohol is lurking in the background of every sip.
