Wine was very good. It surprised me as I had it in my cellar for a number of years. The wine was beautifully balanced with nice fruit. It was medium bodied, not heavy. We drank with steaks. I have had this wine before and had several vintages but this bottle was much better than I have remembered. Will check out more recent vintages.

Good ruby color throughout. The nose is clean, decently balanced, and maturing nicely. Some musty earthiness with black raspberry comes through. In tasting the palate is dry, with medium acidity, some alcohol, with dark plum, licorice and a bit of woodiness, but just a bit. The alcohol has subdued since the 2011 reviewer, and comes across much more balanced and hinting of being french in character, very pleasant to drink.

Deep purple. Plums and blackberries on the nose with mild vanilla and chocolate. Nice tannins and acidity. Extremely balanced, with long persistence. Still at it's plenitude. Great wine. Have another bottle that will sleep for one more year.

Clear, medium plus ruby in color, with a touch of garnet on the rim. It has thick, dark legs. The nose is clean, of medium plus intensity, and is showing signs of development. Pleasant aromas of black fruit, with some earthyness. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, and medium plus alcohol, body, and flavor intensity. The finish is medium plus in length. The palate is mostly dark fruit, with some cedar and liquorice notes. The wine still tastes youthful, with some hot alcohol on the palate, and the tannins are grippy and firm. Drinkeable now, especially with food, but it definitely has the potential for improving with another couple years of ageing. This is a very good wine, which is drinking well above its price point. It clearly shows a French expression of some great New World fruit. Would readily buy again.

Big. Fun. Big opaque on the eye. Big oak and blue fruit on the nose. big tannic blue fruit, tannin, and oak on the palate. this is a phat Bourdelaise wine reflecting the old/new world synthesis of its producers. I look forward to its evolution.

Purple with a deep red core. Lovely warming nose of mulberry and rich chocolate red fruits. The palate is more of the same, but with great structure. Nicely balanced acidity and the standout mid palate and back end that makes every mouthful extend an age. It is super well linked up! Lovely stuff

Deep purple as befits a young wine. Bread and herbs on the nose with wood and earth on the palate when first popped. This wine has mouthfeel and character to address the entire mouth-the entire tongue and cheeks!

Had this with dinner at The Compound in Santa Fe. This paired exceptionally well with the meal (mushrooms and polenta, peach cobbler). The nose is not strong, but present and reminded me of berries. The taste was a mellowed Malbec due to the blend, the spiciness of the Malbec was made deeper and fuller by the Cab. The aftertaste was especially pleasant and made me happy to be enjoying the glass. The flavor is of strong spice, licorice to my taste, with blackberry and smoky overtones. Its a blend that I would pick over a straight Malbec and I'd get this again.

Pop and pour ... Classic Malbec profile (to my mind anyway). Very, very dry and tannic, with lots of acid (too much, really, for my taste). Some nice fruit and a hint of spice, but lacked depth and richness. Not terrible, by any means, and improved after a bit of air, but not one I'll be going back for more of.

Bordering on excellent. Decent balance, though not light on oak. Not sure where this will go with further age. I have no basis for the following comment other than circumstantial evidence, but I did not sleep well that night and should have (lots of work in the yard), so I'm curious about chemicals perhaps present in the wine.

Ruby colour with a purple shade. I have tried this one without decanting, after decanting for an hour, one day later and two days later as well. I have even left a glass out on the table and tried it the next day. It smelled and tasted all the same without much difference. Oak is so dominant that apart from some black berries it is not possible to detect any other component. The palate is unbalanced as a result of overwhelming tannins and oak to the point that although there is a spicy tone it is not enough to save this wine. It will take more than five years for this to open up at which time I doubt there will be much fruit to support the structure.

Nose of dark fruit, blackberries, oak, must, terroir, very left bank 'Bordeaux'ish'. Oak, vanllia, cream, buttered toast, menthol. Light to medium body and legs with nice deep purple color. Medium to full body on the tongue and palate with solid and integrated tannins and spice. Light acidity with a long lingering spice on the tongue. The alcohol content lingers on the roof of the palate but is not offensive, just a slight 'pucker' factor. If you like Bordeaux wines you should like this. The real difference is it does not have the over riding Bordeaux terroir on the nose but other than that it is a very good representation.

Boerne Wine Club - Malbec/Grenache (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX): Very shy nose, eventually showed some cedar and dark berries. Palate was dense and concentrated, just wasn't giving up much. Firm tannic backbone. Some currants and plum poking though, with a little spice, maybe a little cassis from the Cab. medium finish with vanilla and mocha. Quite concentrated, just never opened up much on this night. Still well made and deserving of a good decant.

Inky red. Lots of blueberry and cassis on the nose. In the mouth, showed more dark notes than the nose led me to expect. Dark chocolate with blueberry over it. Balance is good, finish is decently long.

Popped and poured with the rabbit aerator. Royal purple clear color. A deep nice mostly cabernet nose with a bit of cut grass at first. Big but smoky dark fruit with a bit of earth and edgy tannins at first and young fruit finish at first but stabilized to more supple tannin and clear quaffable nose after about an hour with a nice long smokey trending to darker fruit and leather finish. I really like this. Nicely balanced and I think I'll get more as it feels like it will round out nicely in time. It's a big wine that can be enjoyed all night and this was about an hour after a spicy ginger asian dinner with a very nice Loosen Riesling. It just got better and better but I'll try the rest tomorrow.

Nice ruby color. Nothing great about the bouquet, a little earthy, but not much more. However, this wine is delicious. This wine needs an hour to decant. Absolutely gorgeous joint venture between the two respectable worldly wine producers, 50% malbec 50% cabernet, for the $20 price range it is truly difficult to find a bottle like this. Exceptional taste and value! Wise tannins that will allow this baby to mature and mellow in your cellar for at least 10 to 15 years. Enjoy this young bordeaux by decantering it for at least an hour or so. BUY BUY BUY for people who appreciates S.A.'s malbec and cabernet grapes.

Odd, but this wine almost completely lacks any nose whatsoever. In the mouth, it is an entirely different story. Nice blackberry, currant and oak with firm tannins. My verdict is that it is too young now, but will be outstanding starting in 2010. Need to buy more to cellar.

Deep garnet ruby, thin clear band at the edge. Nose of piercing blackberry, cedar spice, a note of musty funk (actually refined) - sort of a refined terroir earth mustyness?? This does add some depth. Balanced on the palate with blackberry, dark current, cedar spice, good acidity and a mineral background. In general, high marks for a serious, well made wine that should mature / improve with 2-3 years in the cellar. Now, decant for an hour or so, to get to level two. Medium but lingering finish with good acidic sensations. Great QPR.

Dense purple. Mulberry, potting soil, cigar box on nose. Blackberry with blueberry syrup on palate. Smoky oak. Quite a bit of grip, but not really rough tannins. Surprisingly long finish. Overall a satisfying blend that should improve a bit over next 1-2 years. Fine QPR - will add more to cellar.
