CT Seattle Merlot and Merlot blend Tasting (Amoroso Room, Bellevue Wine Storage): Dark garnet in the glass. Nice dusty note on the nose, but then the alcohol is noticeable. Big wine, hard to pick out all the fruits on the palate. Kind of a short finish, definitely a big bruiser of a wine. Tasted single blind at CT SEA merlot and merlot blend tasting. My third (tied in score with 4th place wine) of nine, group's 4th of nine.

Nose: rather rich-refined and fragrant. Taste: red berries and plum, with rich and refined spiciness, among which a hint of cinnamon. Noticeable tannins. Might have had some more fruit. Also the typical Chilean toughness, but quite well integrated. At the second day still a bit better with prominent chocolate and some vanilla. Medium to full body. Interesting, rather stilish wine. 88-89.

Nose of smoke, plum and black cherry and some anise. Nice expression of dark baked fruit and chocolate with very soft round tannins. There was adequate acidity throughout but a little more would have balanced this better.

PnP. Dark purple almost saturated. Plummy cassis cedar nose. medium wight graphite tannins. Plummy, blackberry, herbs and cedar. Really delicious and merlot for cab lovers. Case worthy!

PnP. Big purple blackwith red rim dense but not opaque. Very smokey with tocuh of plum, espresso, and chocolate on the nose. Very smooth with a bit of grip from dark chocolate like tannins. Plummy cassis flavours with a bit of chocolate and smokey oak. Nice finish. Has heft and some elegance. Needs a big grilled rib eye.

Black currant, chocolate and smoke on the nose with a mouth-filling texture and a decent finish. I enjoyed this wine and will try it again. Good wine to take to dinner as I think many would enjoy it.

Ok. Big nose with dark fruit, a bit of tobacco. Curiously flat wine, seemed lifeless. I almost thought I had a bad bottle but my wife didn't get the deadness. Maybe just my taste buds for the day. Got a bit better with more air time.

Nice aroma, but loses ground quickly. Not much going on with the taste. Some dark fruit, but overall not a blockbuster. Still waiting for an aha moment with Chilian wines.

Really interesting wine, with a plum nose and a palate consisting mostly of blackcurrant and oak. Which would usually spell bad news for me, but they are very well integrated in this. The tannins are fine, and the acidity is spot on. The finish is quite long with slightly sour plum and cherry notes. Had the feel of a languedoc wine with quite rustic fruit.

South America (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had plum, bitter chocolate, earth, and a bit of black currant towards the end. The palate was soft and juicy, with black currant, dirt, black currant, and a chocolate finish.

another chilean wine that was over-hyped in my opinion. typical vegetal tones characteristic of the region with up front tannins that never really mesh.

Beautiful dark purple colour. Chocolate hints, oaky feeling, long finish. Tannins present but not unpleasant. Very good wine, curious to see what it will be like in a year or two.

Mostly agree with RCDD below, very dark red and purple in the glass. Aroma of some dark fruit, maybe plum, sweet oak, and of course the spice wafting up. Some fruitiness on the palate; good acidity. A nice finish with sturdy tannins. I immediately felt the heat of the 14% alcohol on tasting, very hot but good with sturdy meal; not the pizza and soup I had.

Drank on Easter Sunday with rack of lamb. Dark purple color. Dark fruit, spice, a little tobacco, and oak. Medium-full body on the palate. Nice, long finish. I finished the bottle three days later. The nose was still dark fruit and tobacco, and now there were sweet, dusty tannins to accompany a delicious mouth-coating finish. Excellent QPR. Lots of life ahead for this wine.

The bouquet hits the nose as the bottle is opened, lovely, floral sent. Good dark red color. The lable says intense plum and cherry -- this is true. This is a lovely wine. nicely balance, good fruit, and under current of tannin, but nothing bitter, nothing oaky even though it spent 14 months in barrels. At the price it is a bargain

Dark purple in the glass. Cherry, plum, sweet oak, and spice on the nose; a little white pepper as well. Very juicy on the palate; good acidity. A nice finish with sturdy tannins. A bit of heat developed on the nose with time in the glass. I'm guessing this wine will hit its full stride in 6-12 months.
