  • Very unique. Rust on the brim. Funky barn nose to start. It took about 10 minutes for it to blow off. Hay field, leather, dried current. The fruit was present but way back. Tannins with silky fine with a bit of a chalk texture. Very good balance. The second oldest Oregon Pinot I've ever had. Short finish. It offered more than I expected from a 21 year old OR pinot.

  • I have to say this was a rarity to find since there were only 50 cases produced, but the opening was made more special by having Mike Etzel at my home to tell the background of his first commercial release. The wine still had life and suprising fruit. It wasn't deep, but wasn't dead either. There was a faint corkiness to the bottle, but totally non-obtrusive. If you ever get a chance to try one of these Oregon gems, do it.
