  • It’s very good. Massive. Tastes like it’s still in the first half of its life. Still quite tannic.

  • Similar to the 12/8/19 bottle except now in the second half of its peak drinking period.

  • Inky wine in the 16th year of its age. Storm of dark berry flavors in a bulky frame of tannins and acid. has delicious and charming factor. I wish I had more bottles.

  • I loved this wine, and knowing its youth, I double decanted it. Fully opaque blackish-red color and full bodied. Nose dark ripe fruits like plum and black cherry. Very powerful and concentrated nose, maybe still a little young. Silky smooth with a great balance full of earthiness, smoke and fruit. Has some good depth. Paired very well with a venison saddle. Enjoy now or you could wait 10 more years.

  • Deep purple red color. Aromas black berries, spices and oak. Ripe, highly extracted fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Sappy and thick on the palate. Very fresh and delicious at 13 years of age and only at beginning of peak drinking period.

  • Somewhat unexpressive bouquet. Dark ruby red. Very focused, and fresh flavors of strawberry and red cherry. Mature and velvety tannins. Long length and pleasant finish.

  • Softer and rounder than the 04, dark, vegetal notes, silky tannin and softer acid as well. In a better spot, not as much upside potential as the 04

  • An equal blend of Carignan and Grenache with a dash of Merlot. Aged for 16 months in French barriques. 15% alcohol.

Very concentrated and virtually fully opaque blackish-red color with a hint of youthful, purplish hue towards the rim. Very powerful and concentrated nose with ripe, sweet-toned aromas of juicy black cherries, wizened dark plums, some raisiny tones and overripe blackcurrant, a little bit of sweet, toasty wood spice and mocha oak, light boozy notes of alcohol, a hint of sweet, lifted volatile acidity and a touch of licorice. With some air the nose develops a whiff that reminds me of pizza dough. The wine is intense, concentrated and rather tightly-knit on the palate with extremely full body and heavily extracted flavors of ripe blackberries, stony minerality, some sanguine notes of iron, a little bit of sweet mocha oak, light licorice tones, sweet hints of raisins and jammy dark berries and a touch of sour red plums. The high alcohol makes the mouthfeel rather hot. The overall feel is quite muscular and structured with the moderately high acidity and firm, rather grippy tannins. The finish is powerful, tannic and grippy with bold, concentrated flavors of fresh blackberries, stony mineral bitterness, some sour red plums, a little bit of sanguine iron, light woody oak tones and sweeter chocolatey tones, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of wild strawberry.

A massively big, extracted and quite heavily oaked Priorat that feels remarkably youthful for its age. The overall feel is somewhat clumsy and lacking harmony, with the rather pronounced - at times even boozy - alcohol and still rather obfuscating oak character that shows relatively little sense of integration at this point. Admittedly, this wine felt noticeably younger than most of the other wines in a tasting of +10yo Priorat wines, but many people were wondering if this wine will ever show any finesse - even with enough bottle age? This wine felt more like a hulking, monolithic blockbuster of a wine that's big only for the sake of being big and impressive. Not a bad wine, but at least at this point it really doesn't offer me anything I'd look for in a fine wine. Feels too pricey at 63€.

  • Tight nose, very concentrated and high tannin level, clearly very young, dry and savoury, sour cherries, needs further cellaring as expected.

  • An equal blend of Carignan and Grenache with a dash of Merlot. Aged for 16 months in French barriques. 15% alcohol.

Dense, very concentrated and fully opaque blackish red color that still retains that youthful, purplish hue towards the rim. The nose is sweet-toned and remarkably youthful with concentrated aromas of sweet black cherries, ripe blackcurrants, some sweet and quite toasty oak, a little bit of wizened dark plums, light liquorice character, a boozy hint of alcohol and a touch stony, dusty minerality. There is a lot of power in the nose, but it still feels more nuanced and fine-tuned than heavily in-your-face. The wine is heavily extracted, extremely full-bodied and very chewy on the palate with noticeably ripe and concentrated flavors of almost overripe dark plums, blackcurrant jam, some boysenberries, extracted and somewhat bitter oak spice, light and somewhat sweet mocha tones, a little bit of bittersweet dark chocolate, a hint of astringent chokeberries and a touch of boozy alcohol. Overall the wine is pretty robust and muscular on the palate with the structure relying less on the medium-to-moderate acidity and more on the moderately high, firm and quite grippy tannins. The lengthy finish is pretty tannic and grippy with noticeable alcohol heat and very concentrated flavors of liquorice, sweet and succulent dark plums, some crunchy chokeberries, a little bit of blackcurrant jam, light oaky notes of milk chocolate and toffee and a hint of ripe boysenberries.

A very big, concentrated and muscular powerhouse of a Priorat with remarkable intensity and power. Even at 12 years of age the wine doesn't show any signs of development, coming across as ridiculously youthful for its age. It's hard to say whether this wine only ages at a glacial pace, or if it doesn't develop at all, only starting to fall apart when it gets too old. I'd wager the wine is just too young and in dire need for further aging, because now the wine just tastes like a very modern and too heavily oaked super-wine for my taste. Sure, there is some pleasure to drinking these kinds of extracted super wines, but ultimately I fail to see the big interest in wines like these. I guess there are a lot of people who love to drink these kinds of high-octane fruit bombs, but I'm happy that in the recent years Priorat has started to produce also wines that are more about freshness, vibrant fruit and elegance, not just about high alcohol, heavy-handed oak use and as much concentration as it is possible to coax out of fruit. Overall an impressive effort for a Priorat, but I personally would never pay the 63€.

  • Fantastic. Smooth, concentrated, with tons of fruit, but it is not over the top. Yummy

  • Very dark red color, spicy dark berry aroma, some oaky aroma too. Medium weight but full bodied, mixed berry, spice, some vanilla, long finish. This was a very big powerful wine and probably just starting in its drinking window. Not for lighter foods.

  • Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Highly expressive scents of black berry, blueberry, anise, rock candy, sweet chewing tobacco, bacon fat, and shoe polish - seriously expressive and extremely interesting nose showing more on day 2 than day 1. Palate: Medium-full bodied, spicy blue and black fruit attack, sweet spicy fruit holds high intensity thru the mid-palate where a big acidic back-bone balances it out perfectly, sweet fruit and spice dominate the back-end and persist through a minute plus finish. This 10 year old bottle of wine is full throttle fruit and spice from attack to finish, may overwhelm timid palates, but most will absolutely enjoy this powerful effort, I certainly did.

  • This is a pretty good Priorat. Nose is big and rich with lots of cassis, plum, vanilla, toast, and some dusty earth. The palate is rich and unctuous, yet still remains somewhat balanced. To me this is not all that exciting of a wine, no real sense of place (blind I would have guessed Cali cab probably), and simply made in a big, modern style that while tasting fine is pretty ubiquitous.

  • In appearance, this wine is not showing any signs of its age. It's deep vibrant ruby with practically no rim. Heady aromas of smoky leather, licorice, black cherry and chocolate waft from the glass, all of which carry through on the palate. Full bodied, ripe supple tannins, high acidity, long finish, extremely well balanced. Outstanding.

  • Really good - powerful, complex, and lively - but didn't strike me or the rest of the dinner party as quite as awesome as other notes here. A little more interesting than the Gran Clos it followed, but the Bierzo - Luna Beberide's "Art" - which came next was plainly WOTN.

  • Wow, what a wine full of eathiness, smoke and fruit. I agree with those that say blackberry and black currant. Dark, and full bodied.

  • Decanted 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Expressive scents of dark fruit - black berry black currant, earthiness, and smoke. Palate: Full bodied, lush dark fruit, gritty earthiness, carries through the back-end. Finish: Lengthy goodness of delicious ripe dark fruit.

  • Delicious wine. Powerful aroma, full-bodied and almost syrupy in texture. Delicious...but is it me, or does it feel somewhat manipulated...?

  • I opened this at my Priorat tasting on 10/10/10. It had a fabulous bouquet of lavender, boysenberry, blueberry, raspberry, toast and spice aromas. The palate was big, powerful, ripe, tangy and delicious with flavors of boysenberry, blueberry, raspberry, toast, spice, cinnamon and mineral flavors. It was absolutely awesome. 95+

  • Wow! If one word could describe it. A materfully crafted Priorat with a beautiful purple ink, glass staining color to start. The complex nose shows loads of dark ripe fruits like plum and black cherry. Full bodied with a silky smooth mouthfeel and an unprecedented balance between the fruit, acid and alcohol. An exquisite lengthy finish caps off the exceptional experience. This wine is nothing short of awesome. I can't wait to revisit in a couple of years.

  • Prioratprovning på bolaget (Systembolaget Hansa): Dark on the nose and a clear hint of almond (amaretto from one taster). Less almond on the taste. A very enjoyable wine that was quit acidic. Very well balanced. For some wine of the night.

  • Psychotic stuff, deep garnet color, nose of burnt rubber, molten graphite, and high-toned dark red fruit reduction. Palate is full-bodied with excellent length, mouth-coating ripe red fruit, slate, berry, scorched earth, and herbal spice. Doesn't get much better than this.

  • Drank at Stacey's birthday dinner at a restaurant. Decanted for about 45 minutes, was dry on the end at first but with a little time, tannins smoothed out and it was fabulous. Highly recommend! Should get even better with age.....

  • A borderline perfect Priorat wine (from the steep slope vineyards surrounding the village of Poboleda), a Garnatxa-Carinyena blend (almost equal parts, from 70 to 100 years-old vines with very low yields) and just a dash of Merlot (2 %). The wine spent 16 months in new Allier barriques. Decanted: two hours prior to tasting. Intense dark purple-red colored wine, with a gorgeous and explosive nose, packed with endless levels of dark berry fruit, mixed with cassis, spices, dark chocolate, vanilla and some tar notes. The palate shows a rich and masculine wine with a fabulous concentration, plenty of finesse and a superb balance. The tannins and the acid structure are completely integrated with the ripe fruit and the silky-sumptuous texture (at present). Amazing length on the finish. Although very young, this stunning wine is extremely enjoyable now but will certainly benefit from 3 to 6 years of bottle age.
