Easter with BK famiLee. Woah, dark leafy aromatics, lifted black, blue (but not purple) and red berries, leather, sweet earth. Dry herbs - sage, thyme, etc garrigue. Concentrated certainly, but also elegant, rich and opulent in a mature way. Hint of heat showing, but otherwise, balanced and long lingering eucalypt finish. Fresh from the screwcap. Complete and hedonistic. Drinking very well now, paired nicely w boeuf bourguignon!

Very nice. Floral and iron straight out of the bottle, but still let it still for bit. Incredibly smooth with well integrated tannins. Didn't even notice the higher alcohol content. The red fruit, minerality, and floral balanced well up front and left a pleasant medium finish. Drink now.

Smells awesome right now. And incredibly pronounced. And I can smell it from across the room. Red fruit and iron and lifted acidity on the back end. Truly quite stunning.

Raspberry ruby color with light shone through. Hint of matchstick/sulfite on nose. Powerful mid palate with a lengthy finish. Pristine fruit with a hint of medicinal flavor and minerality. Very well balanced with medium high acidity counterbalancing the 15% alc. this is serious wine that should hold another 5+ yrs. but drinking beautifully right now. Plenty of stuffing but not a fruit bomb. I'm a fan of this style.

Slight bricking, nose of bright berry, mineral, and pepper. Very smooth, medium weight with a long finish that coats. Tannins have integrated nicely and mellowed.

This proved to be a bit of a dissapointment for me. Where is the grenache? It seems overwhelmed by the syrah and mouvedre at the moment. Blackberry, red and dark cherries, tobacco and vanilla oak. Grainy, drying tannins which seems to almost overpower the rather short fruit. I've had this before and really enjoyed but this bottle just didn't have the magic.

7/10 - Decanted for an hour on Day 1. Poured from bottle on Day 2. The wine was overpowered by thick bitter tannins and far too much alcohol on the first night. The bright dark red fruits were present but could hardly be enjoyed with the aforementioned distractions. The tannins softened substantially on day 2 and the very enjoyable cherry and minerals were a lot more apparent now. The strong alcohol, however, remained an issue. The wine definitely needs some time. Score represents the second night. Would have scored the wine a 5/10 on first night performance alone.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2010-01; Australia; d'Arenberg (By HV): Expressive bouquet of good ripe fruits, mainly cherries, and some herbs. Good balance between sweetness and acidity. Full bodied and really an excellent wine. Already a pleasure, but probably for at least the next 5+ years.

Rich, aromatic spices, dark Violet, cherries. Chewy, resolved tannins, aromatic, time to drink.

Superbe, encore vibrant mais plus arrondi, charmeur, délicieux. Précipité au fond, il faut le boire.

Excellent Rhone style blend. Floral, aromatic nose with some Earth perhaps. Palate is dark cherry. Lovely.
