A Burgundy Night: Blind. Mature nose with some yellow apples, hint of brioche (!) and oak; long and complex in the mouth, glorious length and finish. Broad shouldered, but not in an overdone way. What a surprise!

I've really been lucky with these 2007 bottles. No instance of premox yet. This Genevrieres 1er cru is drinking beautifully, still fresh with citrus acidity. Quite lightweight for a meursault 1er cru, just hints of butter and wax that mingle with apple, pear and flowers. A touch of smoke and cruched chalk. Perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious.
I can't say I have loads of experience, but all 2007 burgs, red and white, I've had so far has exceeded my expectations. Perhaps time to re-evaluate this often talked down vintage.

Popped and poured. Medium golden colour. Wow – a completely different wine than the one consumed in April 2013! Exhibits an enchanting bouquet of lime, white flowers, wet stone, butterscotch and smoke. Has fleshed out beautifully on the palate, and now offers all you would hope for in a wine like this – ripeness, depth, balance and length. Sitting in a perfect place right now, but should drink well for quite a few more years. Absolutely brilliant!

'Nothing but Chardonnay' dinner with Peter Rosback: A big expressive nose of vanilla bean oak and clotted cream with notes of citrus, peaches and spices. On palate, very tight and but with great purity and focus. Creamy and citric with spices and a hint of honey. Concentrated with serious fruit weight, power, structure and length. Good 2007 acids provide some tension and cut. However, this wine needs another 3+ years cellar time to be at its best, I suspect. 2/3.

Not quite as impressive as last bottle. Seemed just a bit more closed and did not show as much of the wax and buttery notes. A bit more austere, but still a lovely wine. Can't wait to try this with some extra age to it.

Decanted for a good hour before tasting. Medium golden colour. On the nose; expressive with hints of citrus fruits, peaches, moist gravel, spices, smoke and wood, but less of the more characteristic buttery, nutty notes. On the palate; very lean and acidic – bordering austere, it lacks the depth and fatty richness you would hope for, but does display an impressive length. All in all pretty disappointing – seems shut down at this point, but will hopefully flesh out over the next three to five years. Since I’m way out of step with other CT users and professionals alike, it’s tempting to blame the discrepancy on an off bottle, but I really have no reason to believe that that’s the case.

The nose reveals floral notes, limes, and green apples. The palate has a great deal of fresh acidity and minerals, leading to a long finish with more citric notes and butterscotch. Beautiful with seafood. From now until 2018.

On the nose white flowers, light fruit - citrus, peach and apples - some smoke, nuttiness and butter. On the palate lively acid and marked minerality. Trademark Meursault wax/butter. Long, citrus infused finish. Beautifully combines the power of Meursault with classic elegance. Still young.
