This wine is still drinking with vibrant fruit and complexity with age. I was so surprised that is was so good based on the timing to drink on here, but it was a great choice for a Friday night at home. Drink now!

Gave several hours in a decanter. Very red-purple in the glass. The nose is dominated by juicy-jammy grapes and berries, but also has more delicate features including forest floor, dark evergreen, spice, wood, and subtle cocoa elements. The palate exudes more of the fruit. It could almost be bomb-like if not for the distinct presence of the subtle nose elements carrying through, all held together on very nice tannin structure. Unlike the 2002 Double Diamond, this 2006 is not as rough-hewn. There is some darkness, but it leans more toward the elegant with that jammy red fruit laced through everything. Extremely pleasing.

Great right out of the bottle and through 2 hours of decanting. Started losing some of its power after 3 hours but still a great wine. Found it for $15 but would definitely pay more for it.

A distinct aroma alcohol to the nose but possessed surprisingly smooth tannins. Lots of ripe light berry fruit up front and a little spice at the back. Very tasty

I like this better than the '04 had recently. Nice cigar box, bing cherry and vanilla on the nose. Mouth feel is boarding between light and medium with little to no tannic bite. Very ripe and expressive fruit driven throughout the palate with a mouth watering and as stated by others, spicy finish. The alcohol does take center stage in hour 1 but does subside rather quickly.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over 0.5 hours --
NOSE: red fruits and oak; hint of spice; a bit alcoholic.
BODY: purple-garnet color of medium-deep depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: very tart; oaky; hint of alcohol; mostly red fruits on the palate, perhaps some loganberry too; very fruit forward; not a typical Cab., to me; 14.7% alc.; medium length finish; somewhat hot. Overall, I think this is a solid, and kind of atypical, Cabernet Sauvignon. That said, I do think there are better $30 wines out there.

Very ripe, sweet raspberry/cherry/plum fruit....almost too sweet...would like it a little drier. Rich and smooth, good mouthfeel....chocolate covered Bing cherries, graphite, dried green tobacco leaves, creamy cherry/vanilla oak. Tasty, but it NEEDS to be less sweet......reminds me of Caymus, with sugar. Dry it up....5pts higher imo.

Popped and poured. Not much happening in the beginning, but after 30 minutes, wine really opened up. Very fruit forward taste with some spice at the end. Finish of 20 seconds. Enjoyable!!!

Not much of a nose here outside of the oak. A one dimensional friuted oak monster. Sweet vanilla, cherry, and strawberry and toasty oak on the palate. Short finish. mild tannin. If you like lots of oak, you will enjoy this wine. It drinks very easy and is a refreshing wine.

Good, solid CA cab ready to open and pour now with lots of ripe red fruit on the nose and palate. Not a ton of complexity, and it might lose points with some as a little TOO much of a fruit bomb (it is a hard-charging cab), but a great value for the price and beats a lot of Napa cabs out there being sold for twice the price (or more). All in all, another solid effort from the Schrader team.

Loved it. Complex and tastes well aged. Most of the fruit is gone but opened up so well over three hours in the glass.

Fruit forward, oaky Cabernet probably somewhat past prime but still enjoyable if you like the style.

Nice Carlisle Retrospective Tasting 2003-2006; 3/12/2009-3/16/2009 (Desmond's in Naples, FL): Dark black cherry with heavy toast component. Nice balance with good flavors, but fruit was somewhat muted. Still a good drink.
