Lighter ruby color, bricking towards the rim, fully mature, but still alive with beautiful freshness, notes of violets, tar, some cedar wood, orange zest, also some leather notes, dried fruits, also some mushrooms. Medium+ bodied, with high acidity and medium-high tannin that is a touch rough by today‘s standards. Good finish. This showed more oxidative over the course of the tasting. I would drink this soon.

I double decanted this about six hours ago. Really expansive on the palate - we’re having risotto for the next course, and this should be a good match.

Many say that you don't need to cellar neither Barbaresco nor Barolo, but this wine clearly defies this. LIght brown with a purple core. Wonderful aromas of plums, tobacco, tar, warm earth, some chalk/dust. Medium to full bodied attack, rather dry tannins at the beginning, but that is soon overwhelmed by sweet fruit in the vein of dried prunes, dates and exotic spices like all spices and pepper. Long and dry finish. Still has the stamina to keep for a long time, but is probably at the top right now. My last bottle, so I'll probably never get the chance to verify that last claim.

2001 starts to stand out as one of the top vintages in Barbaresco for the last decades. This was very closed and tart when young, but now - at seventeen - it is just wonderful. Opaque colour with a deep cheery core and brownish tone towards the rim. Intriguing aroma with that classic hint of black cherries and tar/wet wood, but with the tertiary aromas of tea, tobacco and dried fruit in addition. Medium to full bodied, hefty tannins and acidity, but also with that sweet fruit in the aftertaste to balance it all. Long, long. If there was a grand cru in Barbaresco, I guess Montestefano would be a favorite. At the top now, but will keep for...who knowns how long?

Still tannic & young - this is another long distance runner like the 2001 Rabaja, but at the core, a strong streak of ripe red fruits that give me confidence the fruit core will outlast the tannins here. Another wine to check in on in another 5 years.

Almost two years since my last note (and this is a day 2 glass). Translucent ruby in the glass, with a reticent nose that hints at red fruits & menthol.
Tannic and tightly coiled, even on day 2 - this is still a youngster at 15 years. Decent acidity and a lengthy finish - I do like the potential here, as all the elements appear to be in place and are relatively harmonious right now, but for my palate this needs additional time in bottle.
Bright cherry with great mouthfeel and bright acidity. Violets on the nose and a deftness about it. Had completely resolved tannins so no worries about drinking now, yet it will hold for years longer and may even improve more.

:-D Broderen på besøk. Fantastisk vin, aldeles perfekt.

A shade lighter in color than the Paje; nose is fairly reticent on this popped & poured wine right now.
Surprisingly more accessible/less tannic at the outset (especially so given how shut down the nose was). Still young, but very cohesive right now, although you can still feel this wine on your enamel as you savor the finish.
I like this better tonight upon opening, but this is also a youngster with a lot of potential for further nuance/improvement.

Tasted blind on day one and followed over three days. Medium-light garnet, with some bricking towards the rims. Clear. Nose on balsamic notes, forest floor, musk, menthol and later some tar. On the palate is richer more substantial than the previous one (Asili), but in good balance. Tannins are stronger, stopping just short of being aggressive. Bitter finish, on cinchona notes. Beautiful strength and richness together with liveliness in the mid-palate. Lovely on day one, it evolved well for two days, but less than the Asili. ***

Deep color, fading a bit at the edge. The nose shows dark red fruits, leather, earth, and a hint of flowers. This is fairly full bodied on the palate, with very good concentration and good finesse. The long finish repeats the leather note, with bright acids and big tannins. The tannins are sophisticated for their size.

01 Barbarescos Blind (Antico, Chicago IL): Nose: Very aromatic and complex nose filled with tones of roses, red fruits, fresh picked berries, red cherries, roasted herbs, tar, and wild flowers. There is very good depth with very good layering as well.
Taste: Silky and regal medium body with medium/high acidity and some very chewy tannins. The structure is very imposing and showing the youth of the wine. Beneath the structure are layered tones of roses, red fruits, fresh picked berries, roasted herbs, and wild flowers.
Overall: This was stunning and extremely young at the same time. This has a long way to go and can get even better with age. I would love to see where this is in another 5 years.
impressive nose, very deep and complex, leather and licorice smell. Medium body, not so alcoholic, good start, but the tannins are still too strong, need at least 4 hours of decanter, finish very long and deep of compote (prune), little wood and very little vanilla. Interesting wine to taste, not easy to like, medium QPR

Initially very much closed for business. Some tar on the nose and very tannic on the palate. After 6 hour of slow ox the bottle started to open up.
Light ruby/red color with some amber at the rim. Full aromas evolving in the glass with cherry, tar and rose petals with some dark chocolate and hints of cinnamon peeking trough. Following trough full bodied with mouth coating tannins, balanced acidity and dark fruit. The finish keeps on lingering. Beautifully developed already, but there is still lots of structure left to allow further improvement for a long time to come. Drink now - 2021.
This is one of the best bottles of the Produttori I've had!

Nice. Very textural on the nose and palate with raw leather, rose-blended perfumes and a barrel-kiss. Solid Barb fruits with good dimension and friendly aspects. All this after ~30 min of air. Held very well and developed a nice finish with spice and appealling dried fruits.
The Produttori wines are a very nice value and nice wines, but I can't help but feel this is at the expense of an expressiveness of the Cru.

Not every bottle gets opened under circumstances that lend themselves to sharp critical analysis or even an observation more cogent than the fact that it appears to be wet. Such was the case with this wine when I decided to open it around 10 after returning home from a big dinner last night. It seemed rather subdued to me, not necessarily tight as in many years ahead, just kind of sitting there in the glass. Fortunately I had enough sense to stopper it and put in the refrigerator with about a third of the bottle left, and drank the remainder with dinner tonight. Even before it warmed to room temperature it began revealing beautiful notes of licorice, dark chocolate, drunken cranberries and cherries and tar. It's full bodied with a little bit of sweetness at the core, but not heavy. The tannins are slightly abrasive, but it still gives the impression of an elegant roundness, maybe definable if there was an Italian word for "zoftig."
