PNP. Ripe cherry cola nose. Big and ripe fruit, with a velvety texture and a nicely refreshing finish. Showing some age but very tasty at cellar temperature. The hit starts to poke out when it warms.

Garnet red, nose now showed more red fruit, plenty of mixed berry fruit but cranberry/tart cherry more prominent with this bottle, acidity also prominent, medium length finish. Tasty wine overall but our last bottle. Served with leftover prime rib. Last of that too.

Seamless and still lovely, showing few signs of age at all! A little more modern style, but balanced spice and minerality. Great. Wow, can't believe it stayed so much the same in almost a decade!

Wine was purchased from Vinfolio. Perfectly stored. Corks even looked like they were pushed in yesterday. All that being said and having had to force myself to plow through almost a case of this wine over the past year and give some bottles away just to get it out of my cellar...I don't know what the hell other people are tasting and actually believing in this notion that overripe California Pinot can actually age well...this is way over the hill, disjointed, super ripe borderline undrinkable similar to an old overripe Zinfandel. All bottles showed the same. I really wanted to like this and it's not a knock on the producer but typically when you age a wine and wait and wait to taste it in hopes that it's slowly gaining complexity and will reward you and your company with a wonderful elegant tasting experience...well, it's disappointing but not surprising. Drink these wines young and don't believe all the home biased bullshit that these actually age well, they don't. It's just the truth. If you want a complex, intriguing, elegant drinking experience from an aged wine, then drink the three B's; Burgundy, Bordeaux and Barolo. Sorry to rant and pick on Dehilinger (it's really nothing personal) but sometimes you just gotta call it what it is and cut the bullshit.

Our bottles of this wine have aged nicely. Purchased on release directly from Dehlinger. A nice dark cherry, blackberry nose appeared upon opening. The color was a dark ruby red with very little bricking. Plenty of dark fruit on palate with a medium length pleasant finish. The acidity was perhaps a bit high but overall we thought it was very enjoyable with our dinner.

Medium-dark red color with medium transparency. Spiced berry nose with blackberry, cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, and some loamy elements lurking. Palate is starting to show more tertiary elements with loam, mushroom, and sous bois underlying the cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon notes from the wine's youth. Overall, enjoyable, but not the best showing of this I've had. Drink or hold.

The wine is a dark ruby in color. Black cherry and baking spice on the nose. Cinnamon, cranberry, cherries, cola, brown sugar, tea and minerals on the palate. The wine has vibrant acidity and great texture. The finish is long and sweet. Drink over the next 2-3 years. I urge you if you have some recent vintages of Dehlinger Pinot Noir to stick them in the back of your cellar and let them age for up to 10 years. You will not be disappointed.

Medium-dark smoky red color, moderate transparency. Aromas of strawberry, cherry, cinnamon, and vanilla. Flavors of black cherry, tea, cola, cinnamon, strawberry, and raspberry with suave tannins that lead into a medium finish. Very solid performance from a very reliable producer of easy-to-enjoy Russian River pinots. Drink or hold.

Lively but classy nose of black tea, rose petal, bitter orange, sweet plumb, cinnamon and clove. Good acid attack on entry, broadens across midpalate with nice texture and weight, with 30 second black tea like finish. Really combines "wow" like elements with elegance.

Bright cherry bouquet backed by spice. Initial taste yields slightly bitter flavors, however these are soon replaced by nice balance of fruit and acidity. Nice mid-palate. Moderate finish, perhaps a little hot. Holding up OK, still best consumed within the next 6-12 months. Probably best paired with pasta and a nice meat sauce.

Ripe yet restrained nose of strawberry and plum preserve, with nice tobacco and spice notes. The big money is in the palate, which enters with silky medium body, pumping seamlessly into a long finish with nicely integrated tannins and acidity. Really in a great spot.

Wonderful, funky, rich, earthy nose with tart fruit and leather notes. Flavor cascade at the midpalate showing sharp berry, pepper, mint, and spice. Really captures the flashy fruit characteristics of the 02 vintage with enough base acidity to hold it all together. Delicious PN. Drink or hold.

I thought this was one of the best showings of Dehlinger pinot in a while, really nice and expressive without being overly ripe or oaky. A lovely assertive brightness and non-invasive woodspice. Gorgeous on the palate and a surprisingly versatile food wine.

Beautiful dark and balanced pinot. Very complex with good tannin and acidity. Excellent finish. We drank this before dinner and then into dinner with BBQ ribs (a bit scandalous, to be sure) but it was great both as a cocktail and stood up well with the ribs -- which was both surprising and wonderful. Highly recommended.

My last of three bottles. Opened two nights ago and revisited today. Looks like cherry juice. On the nose, cherry, tar, earth, smoke, and a hint of tea leaves. Focused cherry and dark berry fruit with some cedar nuance. Smokey, meaty flavors that have some savoriness. Excellent finish with some spice. This bottle is drinking absolutely perfectly right now although I'm sure it would do fine for another 5 years minimum. A big, deep style of Pinot without overly high alcohol or extraction. Best bottle of my lot and I would highly recommend this.

Opened last night, immediately recorked, and put back in the cellar. Dark ruby color. Nose of sour cherry, cranberry and a hint of barnyard. Very dry on the palate with quite a bit of tannins left to resolve. 10% stems were used in this wine, and maybe that accounts for the slightly bitter, coarse tannins that currently overwhelm the fruit. May turn the corner, but I am really unsure about this one. Finishes powerfully, but green, extra dry and slightly bitter. Not my cup of tea at present.

Garnet red color. Nose of cola, asian spice, cinnamon, red fruit and plum. With more time in the glass, the scent of freshly cut meat and some dried herbs add to the nose. Explosive on the palate and still reasonably tannic. A nice level of acidity balances out the fruit, which is dominated by red currant/cranberry, sweet red and sour cherry, and a hint of cinnamon. Texture is nice and plush, silky and smooth. The finish is pleasantly long, but not going forever. Clearly a step up from the 2002 Goldridge, this is a solid wine that should get better with time as it sheds even more of its baby fat. 14.7% alc.
