Plenty of exotic fruit aromas of orange zest, guava, tons of rambutan and mangosteen escorted by shy aubergines, linseed oil, perhaps some fish oil, more orange essence, slightly candied, a lot of smoke and even more salt. Not too sweet at all, still super young and really complex! Quite overwhelming character with a lot depth! ery surprising! Having written that, surely not very suitable for a bender.
Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of medium gold colour, with greenish rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity of citrus fruit of grapefruit, tropical fruit of longan, stone fruit of apricot, mineral notes of stony, sweet spice of ginger and nutmeg, floral notes of rose, maturity notes of honey. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) alcohol, medium (+) body and medium (+) intensity flavours of citrus fruit of grapefruit, tropical fruit of lychee, stone fruit of peach, sweet spice of ginger, floral notes of rose, mineral notes of stony. The wine has a medium (+) finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Alsace Gewurztraminer with an intense nose showing good complexity, with the signature varietal characters more reminiscent of longan than lychee, highly floral with roses, and also spicy. On the palate the wine has good acidity and while it is dry, the fruity notes make it feel off-dry, with good balance and nice concentration of similar flavour notes and a fairly long finish. It is ready to drink now and can maintain for another 2-3 years.

Gorgeous and golden, this had more energy and less residual sugar than expected. Nose is actually restrained for the varietal, but there is the lychee and grapefruit typicity along with a dusty mineral note. Palate is far superior to the nose, showing ripe peach, lychee, exotic citrus and pronounced stem ginger. Far less unctuous than you would think, this has a line of acid that brings precision and focus to everything. It's like drinking the spectrum of light that a diamond refracts - so many layers and angles. Stunning and years left.

Really intense, really nice. Mineral aromas nicely balance the intense fruit. A tad sweet, to give the Gewürz a really great mouthfeel, but also good acidity. Had it with pork, mushrooms and creamy pasta. But also worked well with the fennel salad with grapes and olives. Nice to drink now, but didn‘t detect signs of fading away...

Medium yellow. Not overly aromatic or floral. Ripe citrus with an undertone of pineapple on the attack, off dry, adequate acidity. The feel and intensity fade toward the finish. Only tasted once before with a similarly underwhelming impression.

Medium light honey gold color, this has excellent flavor and depth, tremendous mineral rockiness on the finish, good acidity, great overall balance. I love Gewurz, but it is increasingly difficult to find wines that don't have significant RS, and come across as syrupy sweet. This is an example of what great Gewurz can be, still. I think this rises almost to the level of the monumental 2001 version.

Birthday lunch for Mike and Andrew: Served blind, this wine was obviously a classy Alsatian Gewurz. A lovely bouquet of lychee, Turkish delight, pineapple and wild flowers. Its best feature was its silky, viscous, tactile mouthfeel. It has the right degree of fruit sweetness on entry, unctousness and lovely texture across the mid palate, finishing on some attractive apricot kernel bitterness. Excellent structure and acidity. Hedonistic now but obviously a long term cellar proposition.

Very gewurz on the palate with some bitterness which is balanced by just enough sweetness. When served cold, the bitterness overwhelmed. Benefited hugely from being slightly warmer (~10 degrees).

Jean Trimbach and the Wines of Maison Trimbach: Only produced in the very best vintages. A powerful and full wine, flowery and spicy, very rich and fruity. Drinking well now and will keep easy for another 10 years!

Nez très floral . Lilas. Belle couleur. (***1/2+)

Full yellow. Begins very ripe with sweet pineapple and citrus. With air, more floral notes. Full bodied. Remarkably, a moderate level of sweetness gives way to an off dry array of apricots, cyanic bite, and a fair amount of soil with reasonable acidity. Not entirely convincing either in terms of balance or flavor authority. In the end, I'd say somewhat disappointing for a vintage with a fine reputation.

Trimbach Tasting (1855): Sweet slightly floral nose. Rich sweetness continues onto the palate, somewhat slightly more than a moscato, and much less than a Sauternes. Seemed to be an underlying dryness which could reveal itself with more age. Nice easy drinking now nonetheless.

Golden amber color indicative of age. Floral nose, tropical fruits, lycee, spices, good acidity but showing some age. Delightful. Drink now-2024.

Terrific wine. Tropical fruits, predominant notes of guava, not very acidic, soft and smooth on the palate.

Pours a golden dark yellow in the glass, showing its age.
On the nose: an array of tropical fruits, mangoes, lychees, some creaminess or nuttiness
On the palate: a nice backbone of acidity, full bodied, notes of honey and ginger, toasted almonds, and hint of cloves.
Beautiful wine by Trimbach

Drinking great, rich ripe honeyed tropical fruits and lychee. Floral aromatics and enough acidity to keep it together.
