Ugh. Way to heady from the get-go. A bit of an off and distracting taste with an ugly oak-like hint, I wonder if it was a bad bottle. This was unlike the previous consumed.

Pop and poured this bad boy and it has this really funky bouqet that was nothing like a zinfandel. The best way I can think of to describe it is almost fishy. Avoid...

Quite enjoyable. Decanted for 1 hour (although not a huge change from the 1st taste pre-decant to post decant). The nose for this one is not nearly as strong as the fruit on the palate. This is a classic, jammy zin. Not a lot of complexity but plenty of blue & black fruits - some heat on the finish but not bad with food (excellent with chili). Would buy again.

15.3% alcohol. deep dark purple garnet color. kind of tight on the nose. led to hints of red and blue berries, plum, spicy notes, cocoa, and vanilla custard. full bodied and full of ripe and juicy sweet fruit on the palate.

– popped and poured – – tasted non-blind over 3 hours –
NOSE: dark fruits and blackberry liquer; white pepper, spicy oak, and a bit alcoholic.
BODY: magenta-garnet color of moderate depth; clear; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: very ripe fruits - a bit artificial tasting; some oak; this reminds me of the Dover Canyon Old Vine Zin, but this is not as complex; round; the 15.3% alc. causes some hotness on the finish (approx. 40 sec. in length); darker fruits than most Paso zins, and better than most Paso zins. I’ve had some better Zins, and many worse. At $16, this is a good QPR, but the lack of excitement will likely preclude me from buying again.

Very fruit forward, a bit over ripe, but enjoyable nonetheless. Nothing to be gained by further cellaring.

This Zin. has past it peak and is heading in the wrong direction. A diminished fruit short finish and a brooding uncomfortable mouth feel.

Classic Paso zin. Blackberry nose with rich dark fruits on the palate. Smooth, integrated tannins, smooth finish.
