Certainly up there in terms of quality. Gentle smoke, vanilla, dried fruits and a super smooth finish. My only gripe with this Wisky is the 40%abv. I just wish it was bottled at a slightly higher abv say 43 to 45. In my opinion this would had extra depth and bring it forward from excellent to one of the greats.

Nose: oak & some smoke that blows off with time, honey, floral. Taste: Very smooth, lots of oak, sweet smoke and honey, vanilla ice cream, chocolate.
A solid and easy whiskey. I purchased this as a gift pack that included the Black, Gold, and 18. I had never had any JW whiskey before, and blind tasted all four. I picked this as the best amongst the four, but don't feel it's that much better than the Black that I scored second best. Yet these are at polar opposite ends of the price spectrum!
This is a good whiskey, but a very poor value and therefore I would never buy this again. I actually kind of feel ripped off but to be fair, the Internet did warn me. Sometimes you just have to see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Very peaty and noticeably lower alcohol. Little complexity and character beyond that. With all blends a drop of water helps, and here it massively improves the mid-palate and finish. Only then it’s incredibly long - just lacks definition. 89pts neat and 92pts with water. 17yr Ballentines is imho a far better blended dram and much cheaper too

Aromas of baked red apples and toast or smoke. Honey. Distilled spirit notes. Very smooth and warming on the palate. No harshness or astringency The high alcohol gives it an off dry sensation on the palate, and there's high acidity

Light honey colored Some apples coupled with a sweet peaty nose. Touch of caramel. Smooth, with a long finish. Toffee, peaty, hints of orange peel. This is a 'Bar Star/Gem' Bottle for sure. It's very good, but its a status bottle without a doubt. (-2 pts for QPR). +1 pt for the beautiful bottle I love the way these bottles look in my bar. It feels good reaching for a bottle and pouring a few ounces. Think 'True Detective' with Vince Vaughn.

A small sip , a reminder to this superb whiskey that we pass by and never drink just because it's offered for free at the BA lounge. We should definitely have this more often, very elegant, soft and with a nice exotic nose blended with toffee and caramel. Well round on get palate even neat and very very good.

NOSE: honey and smoke are strong and prevailing, with a bit of peat and some orange. PALETTE: stoned fruit and smoke!, leather and slight rubber, fig, date, orange zest FINISH: finish is smoky, orangey, and stewed fig, with no bite. Starts on the end of the tongue and rolls on forever. 8.5/10

This whisky reminded me of a field of barley in late summer, with no orchard nearby, plus an afterthought of smoky campfire, built on honest smoothness that does not require any fake sweetness.
From 200ml bottle. The whisky was medium golden in colour (non-natural) and offered cereal, dried fruit, sherry, nuts, leather and some smoke on the nose. On the palate the whisky showed cereal, dried fruit, sherry, nuts, spice, some leather, smoke and hints of toffee and milk chocolate, with warming alcohol and good, smoky persistence. A nice, medium-bodied, medium-complex, smooth and reasonably balanced Blended Scotch Whisky. That being said, at €120.- I can get a wide range of single malts that bring more to the table than this premium blend. Body 5/10, Smoke 3/10, Sweetness 3/10.

Quite creamy and malty with a touch of smoked wood plus a very long finish when served on the rocks; more delicious and enjoyable than served straight in my view.

Complex, creamy, and smooth full of delicious malts, sweet honey, and various spices; a nice daily dram for cold winter nights; especially good after being opened for a few months.

43% ABV, 1 litre tax free bottle No. Z209296 JW. Purchased at auction, probably bottled in the 1990's. Understated blended whisky of great subtlety, complexity and finesse. Far removed from (and a counterpoint to) the drama and power of some Island malts, it is warming and gentle, with a heathery Highland note, Lowland smoothness and freshness, subtle fruity and floral flavours and excellent length. Expensive but worth it - if you take the time to go and look for its merits.

Not a Scotch drinker; however, this was impressive. Slightly better than the Macallen Single Malt 18 year which was enjoyed concurrently. Definitely smoother.

Smells of honey, red licorice, heather, w/smoke and brine undertones. Medium full and silky on the palate. This gentle giant delivers a touch of sweetness at mid palate yet finishes dry with lingering shades of malty red spice. Blue has a supreme balance to that speaks in volumes of it's pedigree. Complex and deserving of it's reputation.

This is a blend of very rare scotch whiskies. Very smooth and with all the flavors expected...from spice to peat to vanilla to chocolate. Price however, is somewhat extravigant.

Peat. Peat everywhere. If you like that smokiness, this is the high end Scotch for you.
Tastes nice, but clearly an overpriced product. It's a status symbol these days more than anything.

2006 Spanish Horizontal - Bodegas Numanthia, El Nido & AALTO (Asheville, NC): Did enjoy, however, pushes the limit in terms of how peaty of a scotch I can take. Would enjoy it 10x better without the peat.
