Light claret colour, with clearly emerging orange at the rim. Not very bold on the nose, with some tar-edged fruit and smoke/smoked meat. Quite punchy acidity for a wine that's quite light bodied. The palate mixes licorice/tar with supporting fruit, and hence overall quite savoury. Still quite a bit of grip from the tannins, which is not surprising at this age, even for what is (I believe) aimed as a lesser wine in the Odddero range of Barolos. Slightly unbalanced now (but far from undrinkable), there is potential, though I do wonder if the fruit is too unsubstantial?
