14.0% alcohol. Showing beautifully now. Pure cherry color. Lovely nose of earthy black cherry and blackberry, with minerals streaking the bouquet. In the mouth, gorgeous balance and concentration, with purity that screams the best attributes of Pinot. The fruit is pure and leads off the wine on the palate, followed up by refined, in check earth and spice notes. Bright acidity and a long finish complete a really excellent blend. A-

A blend from the barrels that don't make the single vineyard cut. Vibrant Pinot fruit, really quite pure. The flavor profile "cheeese rind and black olive, touch of sour fruits, tight just opened. And then as it unleashes itself more subtle cherry of Sonoma Coast. It also has the La Cruz vineyard vineyard which contributes a bit more of the earthy classic pinot characters like red currant." Open and expressive right now. Bit of a darker, currant, lively, wonderful pinot fruit.

A little bashful aromatically compared to other Sonoma Coast Pinots, but it comes through big time on the palate. Delicious yet serious stuff which gives it good versatility.

Pinot Days Chicago (Navy Pier, Chicago): Notes of rhubarb, cherry, and tart red fruit. Nicely balanced, with good underlying acidity and flavors of red fruit, spice and herbs.

Chicago Pinot Days-2009 (Navy Pier, Chicago IL): nose: nice creamy nose of red fruits, red cherries, red currants, strawberries and some bits of fresh berries. Very nice balanced fruit on the nose
taste: really good smooth and creamy medium feel with tones of red fruits, red cherries, and fresh picked strawberries. Smooth tannins give this a bit of a spine
overall: This is really nice right now. Well balanced with real good fruit and a polished sense to it on both the nose and palate

After decanting 20 to 30 minutes, distinct cranberry, damp earth, vanilla, oak and a little cherry on the nose. Nose became more pronounced as wine aired. Beautiful balance and very drinkable right now! All that tasted loved it. Creamy texture, long finish, great with food as well as stand alone. Definitely going to buy more!

Wanted to try this as mailer for 2008's just arrived. Hazy red. Smells like a Pinot. Not as light bodied as described by Tanzer. This isn't as big and concentrated as say a KB or Sea Smoke, but it does have decent concentration. Elegance with power. Well liked by a group who likes wines on the more obvious side. I will buy more of the next vintage.

Spicy cherry fruit. Medium bodied, delicate, yet this has a bite. Nice QPR.
