Wow, big wine! Very powerful nose of black cherry and blueberry. Pepper, cedar and plummy on the palate, with a very long long finish! Wish ?I had more, as I think there are a few more years left in this wine.
The 2007 wine seemed to be the smoothest and most accessible of the three wines. The nose was red fruit dominated, with cherry and raspberry leading the charge; they were followed up by some licorice notes that hid in the background. Palate was almost juicy with the merest hint of tannins on the back palate, some might call them silky, but at times it was as if they weren't even there. Strawberry came through on the mid-palate along with raspberry, anise and a nice touch of cinnamon. As the wine opened in the glass more aromas and flavours emerged like vanilla, clove and nutmeg, but always with those red fruit taking center stage. This is the one wine that is drinking beautifully right now, and there is nothing harsh to get in its way. This was the wine my sister-in-law enjoyed the most.
Nose of Plums, Cedar and Vanilla. Full bodied with an initial sweetness of plum and understated red-fruit but complexity approaching in the mid-palate of cedar, smoke, vanilla with a hint of clove, black pepper and mint. Long finish of vanilla, and butterscotch with well integrated fine grain tannins and very balanced acidity. Not suprisingly, Went well with bbq strip loin and caesar salad. This has aged as expected and is fulfilling its promise. Decanted and held for about 30 minutes before drinking it is very ready now and probably at it's peak.
Paired well with a ribeye steak and chocolate. Berries transcend this full bodied wine. Oaky at first...let it breath a bit-drinking it the second day-made this bottle really enjoyable. Happy I bought more than one bottle to enjoy.
Nice blended red from CAN...a little pricey for the experience, but i would try again. Nice fruit on nose. the palate is medium bodied, some smooth tannin and nice level of acid with a hint of sugar. There is oak in there but subtle. Some vegetal notes in background. Finish is medium length and not anymore complex. 25$ CAN.
