Similar notes from a year ago. The funky side was a little less pronounced and there are still the smoky bacon flavors. Acidity is still quite taught but the body is thinning out so not sure if this will improve any more. I guess I like more fruit and body in my Syrahs.

Good colour: solid colour with not much ageing. Palate very satisfying. Lovely savoury notes; touch of dried blood. A decent lick of acidity and absence of alcoholic heat round this off nicely. Straddles the primary and tertiary stages but is more than the sum of those parts.

Have to admit I was somewhat underwhelmed though not disappointed. Other tasters have hit the mark with their comments about the tartness of this wine and lack of length. Very stinky nose with black currants lurking in the background. Probably a good dose of brett so this is not for everyone. I did find the texture somewhat thin but enjoyed the freshness and bright, dare I say pungent, orange peel acidity. Lots of smoky bacon too. These 2007 are proving a bit of a conundrum - either they are not yet ready or they are starting to fade. I'll hope for the first....

Classic N. Rhone profile. Meat, olives, bacon, lifted aromatics. Slightly smoother, more seamless and heavier palate presence than would be expected for cornas, but what do you expect from the basic granit 30 bottling, and in this context that's a good thing. Very tart cherry flavor profile. I'd be more likely to call this st. Joe than cornas, but I really, really, really enjoyed this. I love this vincent paris guy. Perfect blend of tradition and modernist. Provides soulfulness and pleasure. This has at least a few more years left and will be even better when the acidity chills out a bit. Hard not to love this.

near transparent garnet color, on the nose a savory aroma (bacon fat in an elegant restaurant) mixed with french press coffee grounds and some discreet ripe black fruit. Very smooth texture. Finish a bit short yet a satisfying wine.

My earlier note stands. The difference is I have plowed through many Vincent Paris wines since. In comparison, this wine fades somewhat at the finish - not unexpected in context. Nonetheless, a beautiful expression of in my view old style Cote Rotie.

Red fruit, black pepper on the nose and on the palate. Maybe red currents. Well along, delivers in mid-palate, but plenty of life ahead. What marked Cote Rotie pretty much across the board before the modern style arrived in the Northern Rhone. After 1978, Guigal's single vineyard wines gradually changed the way Cote Rotie was produced - pure modern style syrah. A touch of acid yet on the tip of the tongue. What sets this wine apart for me, and the reason I'm a real fan of Vincent Paris wines, is its lightness and lack of density and weight on the palate. Transparent color like a pure red burgundy. All this with plenty of flavor impact on the palate. The opposite largely in that sense from a Clape or Jaboulet.
I'm a big fan of the pure expressions of pinot in Burgundy, invariably delivered in a wine of pretty much transparent color and a lightness on the palate, all the while delivering a powerfully extracted message to the palate. Vincent Paris wines are easily the closest to that standard in the Rhone.

Very bretty in the bouquet; also red fruits and spices. On the palate juicy red as well as black berry fruits and dark cherries, some buttermilk and clove. Firm amount of acidity and a bit drying tannin in the finish. Overall an elegant wine.

Intense spicyness with notes of pepper, charcoal, graphite and dark consentrated berries. It has improved quite a bit since last time. Will improve still. Very good.

Sunday Group: 2000 Bordeaux (Barb's): Aromas of tapenade, black fruit, spice and leather. Full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit- bordeing on raisins, along with cassis, leather and tapenade.

From the shelf in the supermarché. The quality and purity of the fruit are apparant on first opening. Good minerality and balance. Enjoyable at this age, but it does need an hour or two to bring out the slightly grainy but always tasty tannins. vg

– popped and poured – – tasted non-blind over a few hours –
NOSE: stony granite minerality; slightly smoky; blackberries and a hint of red berries; slightly meaty; cigar wrapper. Intriguingly complex nose.
BODY: superfine particulate matter present; ruby-purple color of medium-deep depth; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: on the acidic side of well-balanced — seems “fresh”; cigar; fresh (not concentrated) red and blue fruits on the palate; no alc. taste, and not hot; 13% alc.; very light oak; some garrigue on the medium length finish (33 - 41 sec.); hole at the back of the mid-palate. A lovely wine, and I do see it improving with additional age. Ridiculous steal at $25. I would compare this to the 2005 Arcadian Sleepy Hollow Syrah: this Cornas is very similarly styled, but is a good notch or two better in terms of complexity and also seems to be more clearly delineated than the Arcadian.

Dekantert.

Blood, iron, pepper, acid, and tannins. I expect this will be much better after a few years when everything integrates and deepens, but it's purity is really nice.

Savory, roasted nose. More Northern Rhone roasted slope on the palate. Earthy and dark fruited. Nice and seems to have bit of life left. Very Good.
