On opening, the nose was closed and giving very little. A bit of bricking at the meniscus. Over the course of 75 minutes it opened and gave more than just ethanol vapours. The raspberry- currant nose amplified .The palate was plush (grenache) and velvety all along. Would drink these up as the wine started to fade after 75 minutes.

Aged, red/brown colour. Medium body with good acidity. Smoke, leather, dried cherries and some dry herbs - slightly sweet. I would say on a downward slope from here.

NOSE: leather; dates; baked raspberry; celery salt
BODY: slight browning throughout; medium bodied
TASTE: leather; smoke; prunes; smooth and very well-balanced; based on my experience with the '04 and '05 vintages I'd say this wine is rather tertiary in nature right now, as most of the vibrant red fruits of the more recent vintages are absent from this bottle -- quite interesting.

Extremely nice balanced wine with cherry notes and a velvet mouth feel. This is a wine that will please and requires to be (ab)used in the next 3-4 years. I decanted for 30 minutes which is enough. crowd pleaser that goes with meat as well as pasta.

Medium bodied with a deep ruby red colour. Fragrant nose of berries, dark fruits and spice with herbaceous notes, lush fruit flavours on the palate with soft tannins and a long, silky finish. Superb.

Smells of prunes, model paints and struck match. Its palate of prune, raisin, and sweet cherry/berry shows no oak and soft tannins. Not as bad as the last bottle, which I gave 80 points, but still pretty uninteresting. Screwcap.

Unlike the previous bottle, which was oustanding, this one simply smelled of prunes, raisins, and paint thinner, with a dried-out palate to match. It's drinkable, but there's just nothing going on here. Sealed under screwcap, so where is this bottle variation coming from?

Barossa Valley - Penfolds, Yalumba and Torbreck (B+R): Actually I had this wine in fifth place. Although good this Cab/Shiraz blend did stick out from the rest in the flight. Expected more.

Popped and poured, brownish cherry in color. Simple to the nose, medium body soft finish. Seemed as if it had higher than usualy alcohol content.

what Wrighty said. The finish was a bit short and mildly disappointing.

over-ripe fruit, more like port than anything else. Didn’t finish
