Our last bottle opened straight out of the cellar. One of our favorite wineries. A very discrete nose with faint red berries and minerals. On the palate, very dry with still present tannins, revealing a watered down cherry and red currant along with asparagus, which then tries to be disguised as a Rijoa with vanillic American oak on the finish. Unfortunately, in its elder state it is very fruit poor and falling apart. Well past time to have consumed this.
UPDATE: decanted this and the asparagus note resolved. Still bricked around the edges and a very dilute body. But, contributed to a very nice edition of braised beef stew, so not all was lost.

Brookie and I shared this bottle undecanted with our friend Breanna at Vincenzo's. I am a very big fan of St. Cosme, and have visited the winery. I love this label, and am probably a bit biased, but I think everything they make is really good and a great value. So, bear that in mind when taking my thoughts into consideration.
The bottle is in a great spot, and in my opinion, is not likely to improve. Our waitress left the bottle unopened on the table for 20 minutes, and Vincenzo's doesn't have decanters, so I think that may have been a factor, because the wine did open with time. Very smooth, not as rustic as other bottles I have had. Dark fruit, cassis, not the usual raspberry and garrigue I usually detect.
The nose was nothing special, but that may be because of the lack of air initially. I was with two beautiful women who had my attention, so I did not notice how the nose developed with time, but I do recall that the finish was maybe 45 seconds and was well done. Drink this one over the next 5 years.

What a treat this wine is...! Dark ruby color, white very narrow rim, medium body. Nose: opens with cherries and plums, dark berries, some dark jam, cedar, spices with very noticeable lavender. On the palate: tasty, silky, balanced - everything in place, fresh, structured and tasty (again :-). Long finish - 40 seconds plus. I think this is very good time to open and enjoy this wine, although it may even improve a bit more in couple of years.

Best bottle of a St. Cosme night with 07 CDP, 07 Gigondas, 06&07 Cote Rotie, 09 Condrieu, and Wanted Gang. Beautifully balanced with structure and good fruit

Decanted for an hour. Light, sweet berry notes on the palate with typical for CDP low acidity. Some nice secondary and tertiary notes as well. Fairly mellow but tannins are not thin either, should get only better with more years of cellaring.

Rhone Valley red wines: St. Cosme (Houston, TX): Pleasant aromas of olives and dark chocolate on the nose. Cherries, raspberries and blackberries on the palate, with undernotes of oak and allspice. Upfront fruit lends space to more savory notes as this wine keeps on bringing out more complex flavors.

Vínsmakk #1 vor 2014 (Marbakkabraut 12): Eftir Baron de Ley lóðrétta smakkið voru teknar tvær flöskur til kostanna í skipulögðu smakki. Við tókum þessa á undan. Frekar ljós litur. Örlítið farið að bera á brúnum tónum í jöðrum. Mjög flottur ilmur. Mjög fersk lykt. Í munni létt sýra, anís og lakkrís áberandi í eftirbragði. Látlaust og fágað vín. Ég smakkaði þetta vín fyrir nærri tveimur árum og það hefur batnað verulega síðan þá.

Deep rich garnet color. Dark fruit aromas backed by mild earth and hints of cocoa. Easy entry bursting into a full palate that is nicely balanced and into a long smooth rich finish. Excellent.

Great, very expressive nose. Very dark fruit with lots of mineral, cassis and anise. Medium to full bodied. Fairly closed right now - definitely benefits from aeration. Probably would benefit from several years of age as well.

Fully mature bottle. Dark fruit and tobacco, along with a mineral note. Tannins resolved. Good balance. For near term consumption.

Lovely Rhone wine. It can use more time and it will improve, but it is drinking wonderfully.

App: Deep dark red
Aroma: Cherries, strawberries and spices
Full-bodied and loads of tannins. The palate reflects the nose.
Good length

Lots of toasty oak, firm tannin, ripe fruit. Earth and Spice fill the glass, great combination of earth, spice and fruit. Very young.
