Drank alongside the 2011. Showing the ripeness of the vintage, but not in a bad/roasted way. Darker fruits compared with the 2011. Drinking very well now but no rush.

Ruby red in colour with some light purple still in evidence and , showing a little bit of brown. On the nose grilled meat, spice (white pepper) and light smoke. A coolness. This carries over to the palate where there is still a freshness, light tannin grip that softened the longer it was opened. Darker fruits still there, but now starting to sit in the background. Medium to full mouthfeel. Some glycerol legs on the glass, but everything very well integrated. Still some sweet fruit in background.

Grilled beef, black olives, cherries, currants, barnyard, tar, iron. Classic Cornas from young vines. Not as intense as the ‘normal’ Cornas bottling - almost more feminine. Great complexity and lengthy finish - very drinkable.

Pure, med+ intense bouquet. Smoky. Dry, med acid, med+ tannins, alc, body and intensity. Big wine, warm but not boiling, underlying vegetable notes, excellently balanced, long(-) finish. Very, very good.
Drink.
My notes: Smoke, black olives, black fruits and berries, slate, tobacco.

Nice but a little unbalanced for me. Perhaps I waited too long the but it needed more acidity to marry with the strong flavors - great Syrah notes - don't get me wrong, but just not a great QPR.

Exactly how I remember the taste of the 2006-vintage. I'm truly amazed by this wine and how they manage to make these wines so fruity without "tipping over" and make them into sweet, marmalade sugarbombs. Poured the wine into a decanter to breath and catch some air. "Checked in on it" every hour and this went on for 6-7 hours until dinnertime! And not for one second did this wine lose it's fruity nose, but as time progressed the new nuances started to pop up. See 2006-review for a nose/taste profile...

Enticing dark crushed fruit nose, medium dark garnet not opaque, nice somewhat bright dark red fruit, great mouthwatering acidity, some interesting creosote meatiness, still young but in a good early drinking window. Quintessential Rhone Syrah.

This Cornas is drinking beautifully right now, the dark lush fruit deserves to be decanted but it opened up very quickly, still drinking youthfully but this is a wonderful time to enjoy this wine.

Very fine. Opening up after 1-2 hrs in a decanter. Still a touch young. Lovely and elegant after being open for a while. White pepper. complex notes darker red fruits. Lovely balance and sweetness.

Revelatory this was not, but it is perfectly drinkable now with a short decant. Clape is of course one of the masters and this wine is elegant for a Cornas, very smooth for a Cornas, and flavorful. But it does not display enough, for me at least, of the guts of Cornas. Compared with Allemande-- either bottling- the style screams less of Syrah than of a more Merlot feel. The nose is full of briar, forest and dark cherry-- all muted-- and the palate a very nice combination of black cherry, a hint of smoke, and some purplish syrah notes. But not much black pepper.

This was absolutely outstanding. A bouquet that keeps you smelling over and over, filled with savory hints of meat and smoke, fresh minerality of crushed granite, earth and forest floor, damson plum and black raspberry. The palate is unreal. Big flavors, brisk acidity, perfectly integrated tannin. The finish is perfect. This wine is an absolute pleasure to drink. I can't wait to try to full cornas based on this example...
drinking nicely. Tannins have softened. Some nice fruit (darker cherry maybe) and some smokey flavours. Getting good development. Some pepper on the nose and palette too. Good acid balance

Drinking very well now - early for a Clape Cornas, but the vintage allows for it. The nose offers masculine scents of pepper, leather and dark fruits. In the mouth, this is a spicy wine. There is a bloody, gamy thing happening too. Though the wine is clearly serious, the balance is good for drinking it young today...in fact, some described this as "smooth", which is true IMO. Lots of time left for cellaring...I doubt another 10 years would hurt this one.

Zins, Syrahs, and Saxums from Spring/Summer 2012: Ungiving on the nose and palate for the first couple of hours, but with air exposure this became quite fragrant (crushed raspberries). Sappy and dense, with peppery black fruit and ripe tannins. More interesting than the Ramey and Copain, but not as zippy and fun as the Australian shirazes in the lineup.

Dunkles, dichtes Rubin.

Kermit Lynch 2007 Northern Rhones (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Medium dark. Evergreen and sweaty, peppery black fruit. That said, this too has a very inviting texture and medium weight with excellent savory flavors. Strong dose of licorice and tannin at the end. Delicious now, undoubtedly better after another 3-5 years. Not nearly as impenetrable as the regular Clape that was later in the line up.
