Took a few minutes to open up, but when it did it was very good. Started off smokey and then became classic aged CdP. Continued to develop in the glass. Very nice.

Deep dark color. Nose of cherry. Rich palate of red fruit, cherry, chocolate and cherry seeds with medium oak tannins. Very good wine. Bolder on first day but easy drinking on second day.

Opened for lunch and served with homemade Wild Mushroom and Chestnut Risotto. Popped amd poured (no need to decant) and drank over the course of 2 hours.
Nose - Lively, old-school CDP nose, with hints of earth, berries, dark fruit, espresso and leather. Developed some port and cognac notes after 45 minutes in the glass, suggesting of age.
Mouth - medium to light bodied, round with soft tannins. Good fruit, plum and some more port on the mid-palate, with some mild tartness on the finish.
A tasty CDP but quite straightforward and lacking in depth, complexity and length. Still enjoyable, and definitely has character, but no more than 88 points on the day.
I have one more of these which I will be drinking soon as I don't expect this to get better.

Big. Dark. Bitter. Fig paste. Some tertiary elements now clearly present. With this current taste profile, I think it's best to hold for 5 to 10 more years, despite thinking that somewhat a risky proposition.

Great length, lively fruit, carried by good acidity and nicely mellowed tannins. Pleasure to drink right now, opened the bottle 2 hours in advance, but didn’t decant.

Drinking well - better than many 2007s at this age. Fine nose (slight funk that blew off after 30min), good fruit (not many age notes), and silky tannins.

Opened, decanted and poured within 45 minutes, so fruit wasn't expressing as nicely as last bottle consumed, but detected no hints of alcohol on the finish as with the last wine.

Decanted bottle directly from 7 years on its side. Within 20 minutes, this wine was calming and rounding out. Very nicely balanced wine - perhaps a bit of alcohol on the finish occasionally, but overall very pleased with drinking this now. Some reviews implied the wine might be past peak, but based on first bottle, it seems to have legs for 2 years or more.

Starting to really come together compared to two years ago, though it still needed a full night of slow-O for that Mourvedre to tone it down a notch and let the other grapes play. I'm happy to have one left that I will get to in another 2-3 years. I laugh at the consensus CT window that starts in 2013 and ends in 2023. This will probably be just hitting it's prime in 2023. I notice that my earlier notes complain of high heat. It didn't bother me this time, though it's certainly part of any CdP equation nowadays, I felt the abv was in check with this bottle.

NOSE: very ripe red and purple fruits; a bit earthy, with some black licorice leanings; medium to medium+ expressiveness, and the alcohol is a little noticeable, too.
BODY: medium-full to full bodied; slight bricking creeping in to the color.
TASTE: very rich; dark, earthy, smoky, and bitter; tannins are still a little present, the acidity is low, and the alcohol is noticeable; this is labelled at 13%, but it comes across as being closer to 15%; overall, I don't see how this blossoms with additional age. Gut impression score is 87 – 90, and the upper end of that range assumes one is tolerant of "big" CdPs. Drink Now and over the next few years.

Did not take any notes and writing this from memory a few days later. This was a very good Ch9dP and it is drinking quite nicely at the moment. Smooth with quite big fruit on the palate. Big nose with spices and dark berries. Starting to mature. Lots of sediment.

Still too much alcohol. Big fruit up front, mostly prune. It does mellow out with fatty meats or cheese. In fact I wouldn’t drink this without those. Disappointing.

This is really good. Yes, it is big and rich. However, it has concentrated fruits, plenty of garrigue. Cherry, iron, Provençal herbs, lavender, layered, long finish. Great with a ribeye!

I double decanted this 4 hours before tasting it. Schott Zwiesel Forte Burgundy glass. This bottle to me is just entering its drinking window. Rich, layered and complex with plenty of garrigue. Nothing about this is pruney or over the top. I wonder if other posters had bottles damaged during shipping.

I will not provide a rating on this wine because perhaps my tastes have changed. I don’t like it at all. I can hardly drink it because it sort of tastes like fermented prunes. Also, it has a hot alcoholic finish that burns. Sorry, but I don’t get this CdP. It must be the vintage which seems to be overripe. However, I continue to enjoy other producers of CdP from other vintages.

I decanted this bottle a couple of hours ago. It has a garnet colored rim and kind of a prunish nose. On the palate, it has dark red fruit, orange zest, garrique, anise, a little tar and a medium finish.
Honestly, the fruit seems to be overripe and I am not really enjoying this bottle. I have just begun to open bottles of the 2007 vintage and am hopeful that other producers will show better. Based on my limited experience so far with this vintage, i am not sure it deserved the high praise from the wine press after the wines became available for tasting.
Also, the bottle says it’s 13% alcohol. It has to be at least 14.5?
It is interesting to see the varied opinions about the wine.

Truly in a prime drinking window right now, after some ten years the 2007 Boislauzon continues to reveal abundant primary. The wine comes across as more or less totally integrated and balanced. Except from the primary fruit there is a beautiful tone of white flowers, orange zest and Asian spice. These are accompanied by a second layer of saddle leather, garrigue and an overall lovely complexity. The palate is full-bodied with integrated tannins and a length on the finish lasting about a minute or more. I see no reason to hold off drinking, but maybe a decant is justified if you do not have the time to follow the wine in in the glass for a couple of hours.

Most of the 07 C9dP are disasters and this is one of them. But this, my 4/6 bottles, finally gave me a glimpse of something. A couple of hrs of air and things start to settle down and integrate. Not a great or even very enjoyable wine. But recognizable, with the Grenache way over sappy and no discernible structure. Maybe in 5 yrs something more recognizable..

Soooo brooding and concentrated. I followed it for five days open with just small samples each night, then recorked and stored at room temp and it was most enjoyable on the final night. In fact, it was friggin awesome. It's still a bit of a burner, but isn't most CdP nowadays? I'm thinking another 3-5 years before trying again.

2007 CdP retro (with sushi food pairing) (Streeterville, Chicago): I truly don't want to even write out a proper note for this. Simply put, this is a trainwreck of a wine. Completely out of balance, overblown, and alcoholic with some candied notes on the nose and palate. This didn't feel like the bottle itself was flawed, more what it has turned into. I enjoyed a bottle much more back in 2010, but this has fallen off a steep cliff.

Châteauenuf-du-Pape 2007 - ten years after (chez moi): Old fashioned at first glamce; the fruit is in the background (it’s there, certainly), the terroir, garrigue, Provence is in the front. An antithesis to the Clos St. Jean, very charming, very local, still, alcohol is very present, burning almost, even more so on day 2 - now really sad.

Notes made after following for 24 hrs open. Dark, ruby-garnet color showing slight age. About 80% opaque with slow, lightly-tinted legs. No sediment. Profound aroma with a lot of black fruit and licorice on top, flowers, vegetation, and a big bowl of VA underneath. Very tight and harsh on the palate for the first few hours open and still feeling like it's wound up a little even on the second day. Really dark in the taste profile, where I believe the Mourvedre may be dominating. Tannins are near full resolution and the tertiary notes of age are just starting to show. One thing I find un-ignorable is the alcohol burn. It seems to be a bit pervasive. 5+12+15+8 = 90

No notes, but this was very, very nice. Ripe, rich, dark-red fruits with a nice dose of licorice, some spice/herbs and a touch of garrigue. Lush and juicy with a velvety texture, firm structure and a long, fruity finish. Very harmonious and easy to drink, but also with plenty of power, character and complexity.

Drinking perfectly and starting to signs of maturity, the 2007 Boislauzon still has a lot of primary fruit left. The wine provides an integrated and open impression with a full throttle and intricate nose. The taster first meets abundant dark fruit, a slight touch of mature strawberries accompanied by a whiff of red currant. Then there of course the classy tones of herbs, garrigue, Asian spice and wet saddle leather. I am quite convinced this effort is ageing beautifully and it is certainly on a nice track of development. The palate is full-bodied with integrated tannins and an end-palate which just goes on and on.

Better than my last bottle. Aging well. Full of bing cherries balanced by savory olives and a touch of thyme. Long long finish. This will probably get better with a few more years but it's perfectly delicious now.

Exactly what you would expect from a CDP. A little licorice on the palate and a long finish. Tasted slighlty hot despite only 13% alcohol. Was liked by all at a blind tasting.

Dark in color. Nose has plum, anise and a note like grilled tomato. Soft mouthfeel. Get more Mourvèdre (or possibly Syrah?) than Grenache with both mouth and the lush fruit. Dark berry and floral notes. Interesting palate, definitely unique with a funkiness I came to like...which might not appeal to all. Tannins really stuck to the teeth (to its detriment)...maybe soften further with a few more years.

Really unimpressive. Initially it had some syrah-like smoked meat notes on the nose, but after that it was just big and boozy with a strange dusty aspect to it. Drinkable, but far from exciting.

Very traditional with dark reddish fruit (strawberries, cherries) getting support from seaweed, nori and garrigue. It gets a bit darker with food, as if the Mourvedre takes command but the reddishness makes a comeback in the game later. Acidity is fine, tannins are ripe and losing their edge. I'd wait a couple of years or give it a longer decant than the 30 minutes I gave it. 91-ish.

Drinking perfectly right now, the 2007 Boislauzon still has a lot of primary fruit left but gives a much more integrated and perhaps open impression compared to last tasting. The nose exhibits abundant dark fruit with a slight touch of mature strawberries and edgier red currant. Adding to this are the classy tones of herbs, garrigue and wet leather. There is no doubt this effort is ageing beautifully. It will develop a more multi-layered profile but that will take considerable time. The palate is full-bodied with integrated tannins and an end-palate which just goes on and on. 2007 certainly keeps performing very well.
Totally open for business. Comes across as a very modern expression, with its candied red fruits, vanilla extract and almost gloopy mouthfeel. Lacking acids, but not sapidity; some brett. Washed down a peppered rib eye quite well, with absolutely no hard edges to be found - but no real complexity, either. In a crowd-pleasing, full-bodied, keep-it-coming style. Fun, and delicious, but certainly not serious. Not something I would repurchase except to have on hand for friends that like this style. 14% abv (integrated), drink thru 2021
Aerated to decanter 1 hour, returned to bottle and served non-blind 3 hours later

Beautiful CDP - rich, deeply flavored, complex, earthy. Dark berry fruits and licorice on the nose. Medium to full body with great depth and richness. Very ripe and juicy on the palate with a smooth texture and long, fruity finish. This was spectacular with a homemade lasagne.

Maybe I've become jaded by all the great Chateauneufs I've had lately, and maybe I have high expectations for all 2007's. Two hours in a decanter and this was good, that's about all I can say for it

Very dark color. First pop, pour and gulp does nothing but give me some peppera and alcohol heat. 2 hours open it is much more a greanache dark plum and blackberry mixed with dry herbs and dirt. The tannins seem softening and the acidity only about medium high. Back end is velvety with peppar and plum skin. Dry and medium long
Open 3 hours more viscosity and rich flavour of dark fruit mixed with cinnamon and black hot pepper How can a wine become more full bodied over timew. It must be me getting drunk :)
I detect or wish I do some licorice. Maybe it is in a awkward spot right now? the wine that is. The alcohol is very well integrated. Warmth, but no heat. 91 p

Open 3 hours, second glass: nice dark fruit aromas with dried fig, earth, blacktop and tobacco. Smells great. Dark cherry pie, blackberry cobbler and tar show on the palate with well balanced acidity and tannin, in a nice place currently. Strong alcohol shows in the finish but it isn't overwhelming. This is a 'high octane' wine though, heavy mouthfeel, strong intensity and a lot of alcohol. That said, it's all really well integrated, and despite the booze on the finish, I'm really digging this.
So alright, I'm very curious to find out what's going on with the 2007s from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This one is very malolactic when it dances down in the decanter. It has a fragrance of blackberry-yogurt spiced up with herbal licorice. It settles down after about 45 minutes and served at about 16 degrees Celsius to lamb filet, roasted potatoes, Jerusalem artichoke, carrots and root celery and bearnaise, it's seriously good. This one comes from the dark side, it's very herbal, the fruit is more blackberry cassis than raspberry/red currant. There is both licorice and a touch of scorched earth, but alcohol is very well integrated. Warmth, sure but no heat. Acidity is fine, there's a meaty, leathery touch and very fine tannins that keeps the taste come in waves. They're beginning to melt down, but are still noticable. It works just as well with some Comté for after. However, I think this one will get even better in just a year or two.
Drinking well tonight and much more drinkable than a year and a half ago, though maybe doesn't have the long range potential I thought at that time. One more bottle left and will probably drink in the next year or two.

It has been 6 months since I last tasted this wine. It continues to amaze with it's lush yet soft appeal. No heat whatsoever and a long finish. Those who still have this can rest assured that it will continue to improve in the coming years. A tour de force Tradition from a great winemaker in Ch9P.

Dark color, dark and red fruits, with some pepper, garrigue and a spicy element. Softening tannins and medium high acid levels make this good with food, and suggests continued cellaring for at least a couple of years. Not that this has ever stopped me. Tonight I feel that the alcohol was not as well integrated as maybe it should have been. (91-92)
Certainly takes the edge off the storm outside though.... :)

This continues to improve with each passing year. It is bold in your face fruity with plenty of balance and softening tannins. There is no noticeable heat from the high alcohol and this wine can only improve with time. Hurrah for 07 CNdP!

Slightly evolved nose with hints of dried fruit. Raisins, dried herbs, dark chocolate, both red and dark berries. Balanced oak and a bit earhiness. Nice nose. Harmonius, medium-fullish palate. Some clumsiness, but nice softness and good persistence. Fiery. Chocolate, violets and blackberries. I often find ChNP to be too fiery and lacking backbone and elegance, thus detracting from my rating. This was a nice ChNP, but clearly inferior to the Hermitage and Cote-Rotie tasted at the same occasion.

The 2007 Boislauzon performs very well tonight. The nose revelas ample dark fruit with a slight touch of mature red fruit and red currant(!). Adding to this are the classical tones of herbs, garrigue and wet saddle leather. After a few hours in the glass a strong scent of wet granite appears, and after another hour there is plenty of cigar box to be found. There is no doubt this effort is aging well and actually starts to show a multi-layered profile. The palate is medium-bodied with soft lovely tannins and an end-palate which just goes on and on. (Tasted alongside the 2009 Boislauzon, the 2007 is more complex, more clean, shows more or 'better' fruit and has a much better length of the end-palate.) (score is 93+)

Expressive, muscular and full-bodied the 2007 Mas de Boislauzon shows so much barnyard in the nose I am truly amazed, maybe this has to do with the wine not being de-stemmed. This is a classy Châteauneuf with plenty of texture and structure. The nose screams of wet hay, oak, dark fruits like morellos and sun dried strawberries. The palate is full and lush with a slight hesitance to fully express itself; though a few hours of aeration helped bring the palate forward. Acidity is nicely embedded in the sandy tannins which are accompanied by a 45 second finish. The impression of this effort is indeed positive. It is already complex, but will certainly benefit from ageing... The only thing reducing my impression is the presence of heat in the nose and the end palate.

Excellent, classically-styled Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, with a varietal composition of 70 % Grenache, 15 % Mourvèdre and 15 % Syrah. Half of the wine was matured for a year in oak barrels, the other half was left in vats. Decanted three hours prior to tasting. Deep inky-red color ; at first the nose was a little bit closed, but with some vigorous swirling and time in the glass it opened up beautifully with scents of red berries, kirsch, lavender, graphite and roasted coffee. Extremely concentrated, masculine palate, plenty of dark berry fruit and “Provencal garrigues” but also with still firm and significant tannins. Muscular finish. Built for the long haul, this wine requires 3-5 more years of cellaring. Outstanding potential.

nose: rich and juicy nose of dark red fruits, black fruits, black cherries, some bits of lavender, dark berries, some bits of hot stones and other various spice tones. On the more forward side, but not too much though there is a touch of heat on the nose
taste: fuller bodied with good supporting tannins and rich tones of black cherries, black cherry liqueur, some black licorice, various spice tones, lavender and a touch of hot stones. Well balanced and the forwardness on the palate recedes with more air
overall: this was decanted for a good 2 1/2 hours, but still took a bit to really open up. A lovely CdP that shows off the sexiness of the 07 vintage and some of the forwardness, but still has some good tannins to it

Nose: somewhat challenged. A bit of barnyard, a bit of leather, an old world nose... Taste: Tannins... I had this open over an hour, but the tannins are the major story. This could use a couple of years in the bottle. I get some licorice on the finish, maybe some herbs. It's hard to taste through the tannins, this wine is too young. Score is for right now, but I could see it getting much better with time.

jhannah was cool enough to open one of these in my presence, knowing i'm a huge fan of this producer ... I thought it was good ... very good, actually. It didn’t come across as alcoholic or tannic to me, but rather surprisingly smooth for its tender age. It definitely struck me as being a huge wine packed with complexity, but with that complexity being absolutely bowled-over by up-front ripe red fruits (the red fruits also surprised me, as Boislauzon usually has a darker taste profile). Huge, primary, and not offering much in the way of complexity *right now*; I’m happy to have a few of these in my cellar: I will try not opening any ‘till 5 years passes.

Color: Nice deep ruby. Nose: Intense nose of licorice, dried herbs, leather and dark fruit. Taste: Dark flavors of licorice, strong herbs and an interesting dusty-earthy tone. Very syrah like. Finish: Medium length finish of the above with an interesting earthiness. This is my first CDP, so maybe I expected more, especially for $35. Just not very complex or interesting. BTW, I did decant this for 2 hours. 89-90 Day 2: Pretty much the same as day 1. Held together nicely but still suffered from minimal complexity.Prob. rate it an 88, tops. I may just be spoiled by Cali cabs.

Opaque purplish ruby color all the way to the rim. Nose of smoke , raspberry purée , hot stones , and lavender. Tasted for the second time , I remain convinced that this is one of the better values to be found PERIOD. On the palate huge concentrated flavors of plum , spice, raspberry , and smoke. Mid palate is dense with flavors of black pepper , cherry , anise , and new leather. Long dry finish abounds with spicy fruit flavors lingering.

This is a nice little French Grenache from Chateauneauf-du-Pape. The nose is reserved and shows slightly green fruit, but the taste is well rounded and opens up as the wine gains breath. It is fresh berry with a smooth middle with a short tense tannin.

Dark red color. Tight, concentrated nose with black berries, ink and dark chocolate. On the palate it has a similar profile with concentrated black fruit, but quite a lot of bitter dark chocolate on the midpalate and finish. After about an hour in a wide bottomed decanter it opened up with more nuances of raspberries and spices. Greatly balanced with good acidity and very good length. Cellar for a couple of years before trying again.

Dark red purple core fading slightly at the rim. Explosive and heady on the nose with notes of kirsch, garrigue, lavender, and crushed stones. The palate offers loads of sweet black cherry and berry fruit with underlying herb and earth character. The tannins are very ripe and firm yet approachable at this stage. Tremendous concentration and structure for this level and price point. Heady and surely one of the bolder 2007 Rhones I have had but it is well balanced with gorgeous garrigue infused fruit, ample tannins, and solid acidity. I saved some of this in the cellar and then revisited it a couple days later. Right out of the cellar it is slightly dumb but as it warms it explodes with more of a leathery herbal tone to both the nose and palate. Today the expressive aromatics include anise, leather, blackberry, lavender, fresh soil, and baking spice. The fruit is still gorgeous with flavors of dark berries, licorice, and meat. In summary a gorgeous herbal and earth infused wine with ample fruit, structure, and complexity. A superb effort, especially at this price point. 94+

Nose of Blackberry, black raspberry, blueberry, coffee, iron/mineral, green spices and lavender jump right out of the glass. Love the palate that gives away it's whole cluster fermentation. Raw beef, tobacco, blackberries and black cherries mix beautifully on the nose. This was so balanced on the palate, very smooth with it's medium intensity fruits and earth that lead into strong acidity and tannins. The finish on this carries on for 30 seconds as well. Heavily structured yet soft in it's approach, this is the kind of wine I look for when I buy CdP. Based on the price, for my tastes this could be considered a value.

Wonderful, complex nose of cranberries, rare beef, tobacco, and green apples! The tannins grip up right out of the gate, but don't become overbearing. That's pretty impressive. There's a hint of minerality right away, and some great blackberry flavors that linger with the nice even tannins. Some light oak appears on the mid palate, and the acidity is nice as well. Solid CdP. 90+

Red Berries, dark chocolate, jam, long aftertaste. I think this has peaked and drinks well now.

Completely out of balance, overblown, and alcoholic with some candied notes on the nose and palate. This didn't feel like the bottle itself was flawed, more what it has turned into. I enjoyed a bottle much more back in 2010, but this has fallen off a steep cliff.

2 hours open it is much more a greanache dark plum and blackberry mixed with dry herbs and dirt.
The tannins seem softening and the acidity only about medium high.
Back end is velvety with peppar and plum skin. Dry and medium long
Open 3 hours more viscosity and rich flavour of dark fruit mixed with cinnamon and black hot pepper
How can a wine become more full bodied over timew. It must be me getting drunk :)

I often find ChNP to be too fiery and lacking backbone and elegance, thus detracting from my rating. This was a nice ChNP, but clearly inferior to the Hermitage and Cote-Rotie tasted at the same occasion.

Deep in color, the perfume is filled with black cherry liqueur, fennel, garrigue, pepper and jam. With great concentration, purity and depth of flavor, this rich, ripe, plush Chateuneuf du Pape is already delivering a lot of pleasure.

This has evolved a bit since I tasted it 1 year ago. Slightly closed at the moment, but it has gained some complexity. Will keep my remaining bottles for another 2-3 years. Still very good! 92+

Lots going on with this wine. Very dark color. Dark berry, leather, pepper, stemminess (is that a word?) in the mouth and through the finish. Complex, full-bodied, deep. Medium to long finish. Seems built to age.

Very good nose with floral notes as well as dark fruit and a bit of leather. The palate has the dark fruit and some herbs and leather. Excellent CndP for a second tier wine. Their Cuvee de Quet from 2007 is fantastic.

Big blast of black fruits with a little smoke, Clearly grenache but almost tasted like a ripe new world syrah. Some red fruits emerged with time though deeper and darker than a lot of CdPs. Rich and enjoyable.

Another Round of 2007 Chateauneufs-The More I Taste, The Less I Like (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Garrigue and licorice on the nose. Medium weight with a dark, sappy core. Significant finishing alcohol gives it a harsh, thinner feel. Poorly balanced and lacking fruit, the latter pretty hard to believe in this vintage.

Deep, dark purple color. An explosion of flavors on the palate - chocolate, spicebox, plumb, black cherries. Unfortunately I popped and poured and I believe this would benefit from a good decant. Will wait another 6 months before opening the next - this is clearly still a very young wine.

nose: rich and juicy nose of dark red fruits, black fruits, black cherries, some bits of lavender, dark berries, some bits of hot stones and other various spice tones.

Fresh, lively, high and low notes well balanced. Long finish. Good now, and bet it will be good in 10 years . 20% Mourvedre, but comes off like more.

Solid CdP. 90+
