La Moglie likes it. Lei piace. Excelled with Maytag blue and cannellini beans with garlic, herbs and radicchio. An aging wine. Acidity gone, salinity vanished, but something sweet and friendly remains. Enjoyable but glad it's my last. On a strange note, it started of with sediment that looked like salt or sugar, but was gone by the last glass.

Citrus, acidity, spice, waxy fruit and a touch of sweetness. Solid as always and not really showing any age. This should continue to drink well for several years.

I feel the alcohol too much. Not as interesting as it was 3 years back. Cloying for a non-dessert wine. Went pretty well with dinner, but not with cheeses. There was a nice salinity to it though.

This wine was put in the freezer to chill - and left there until the cork burst. My first taste was like a martini- with a small amount of chipped ice on the rim - and like so many other tasters, fit the aperitif role well. Metallic with some sweet mango and crisp lemon rind - I always wish I had more.

My scores on this bound around in the low 90s -- maybe sometimes as a result of mood, others as a result of food pairing. Distilling it all, this is in the 90-93 range for me. It is fresh, clean and crisp. Tropical fruits, orange peel and solid acidity. It lacks a bit of complexity, which is the slight nit. The kicker for me, which I love every time I drink it is the creaminess on the palate. It has such a nice texture. It is a pleasure to drink.

My second bottle of this. Like for another member, the 2 bottles were different experiences. First had excellent nose, with fruit and earthiness coming through. Second's nose was just as good. The first's taste, however, was a bit flat (rated 85 last time). Nothing popped, especially after the strong nose. Second though was better. Very strong spices coming through, some bitter herbs even (weird, i know, but good). But at some points, alcohol does come through a little (the content is over 16%). I have another bottle left... i'll keep that one for a bit, see what happens.

I am all over the map with my scoring of this wine, and maybe it sometimes has to do with the circumstances. We had this with spicy food tonight and it was just terrific. Fresh and vibrant. Terrific citrus and melon fruit. So juicy and mouthwatering. The wine perfectly buffets the spicy food. A solid performer.

Smorgasbord of Wines With Focus on 2006 (Our House (2033 Brandywine)): I'm no sure what is going on here. Third time I've had this over last 8-10 months (this time out of magnum) and my impression has declined over the course of 3 tastings. This has nice citrus, good acidity, and sweet spice, but those notes were a bit overwhelmed by some waxy floral notes. Out of whack a little. With nearly another case in the cellar, I hope this recovers.
This has changed considerably from the wine that absolutely blew me away a year ago. Packed with intensely ripe fruit, stony minerality beneath and a faint lactic element, but this doesn't have the dynamicism it had a year ago, feeling heavier and less interesting with the alcohol quite prominent. Really disappointing given my prior experience with this.

Interesting wine, tasted blind. My guess was CA Chard, but I was wrong. No over oaking, fruity, good wine to start the evening. Another grape to add to the notches on the belt. Popped and poured. This is definitely changing. Nose of key lime, kiwi, honeysuckle, lemon zest, citrus flower. On the plate still has a strong core of sweet fruit with key lime, melon, apple, lemon. Has lost mot of the mneral overtones that made this so interesting a while back. Finishes bone dry with lively acidity. Did not notice any heat but felt it later. Sadat X FUF 9.5. Still an outstanding drink. Drink now. Still a screaming value.

No formal notes from last night when we drank it, but this was a really excellent wine. Better than the 2007. Very crisp, fresh and elegant yet full bodied white wine. Surprisingly complex considering this is one of the more "regular" offerings from Scholium (not that the word regular makes much sense when talking about Scholium).

Still superb QPR, and just as nice at home as in a formal tasting line-up, but this bottle didn't knock me out the way the last one did. Acidity was welcome against pasta with a cream sauce, and citrus flavors joined forces with the last-of-summer tomato salad, so I don't know what I'm bitching about. Would I buy more at $20? You bet.

Big, oily mouthful of sweet lemon curd. Distinct leesy petrol note typical of a Syrah/Vigonier. Long lingering finish that seems a bit tannic/astringent. Well chilled so no sense of heat given its sheer size. Lots of acid keeps this refreshingly crisp for its rich proportions. Stretches out with air to put on even more weight, length and sweetness while remaining true to its citrusy steely form. Good stuff.

No notes taken. Lot's of other comments about a banana component to this wine, which I did not pick up. I found the EtOH to be very hard to get past, though maybe with a heavier food pairing this would have worked. As it was I felt like I was exhaling high octane, even to the point of hurting my nose. Not sure about this wine, glad I only have one left.

Didnt quite know what to anticipate from reading other notes regarding this wine - banana toffee??? But amazingling enough this wine is pure banana essence in the initial taste. Followed by notes of other tropical frutes like papaya, lychess and the likes.... A very interesting wine that deserves the high scores, well built and well in intrigated, you wouldnt guess the 16,3%.

Intense Verdelho, with insanely good QPR. Aromas of banana salt water taffy, sea salt, lime zest, grapefruit, and granny smith apples. The flavors explode in your mouth in a wash of citrus, tropical fruits, mineral, stone, and more sea salt. Very dry, very acidic with a long, lingering aftertaste that hints at a great future for this wine. Outstanding for $20. Note to self: mortgage house if necessary when its time for next Scholium allocation.Wish I had more than 2x of these.

Nose, very intense, banna, key lime, honeydew, citrus flower, lemon zest, slate, honeysuckle, mango (the white Asian kind). Palate huge, key limie, melon, lemon, apple, saline, blue stone. Dry acidic finish with a little heat (very good considering the high octane). Tremendous. Drink or hold. Value is out of the park. Great geek wine.

I love high acid wines of this ilk, so my scores tend to be a bit biased. This is a tremendous white wine. Probably best paired with spicy food. It can easily be enjoyed on its own. Complex is the name of the game. Nose swirling with banana, citrus, lime, salt, honey, honeysuckle, tropical fruits and minerals. Palate has incredible acidity that never rests. But the fruit is there and up front. Cucumber, salt and tropical fruits blended with great minerality. The acid seems to boost the finish and it ends incredibly well. This is one not to miss!

Subtle banana notes on the palate with some minerality and pronounced salinity. Medium to full body, and high in alcohol. Good acidity, but not out of bounds. This could be easily mistaken for a cold climate Viognier. An outstanding effort. Paired extremely well with pan fried petrale sole and oven roasted, caramelized turnips.

Banana starburst nose. Also some watermelon, cucumber and salinity. It goes crazy in the mouth - doing a dance i've never felt. OK solo and with cheeses and olives. Off with salad, but very good with Rappini - wow. Also good later with some Drunken Goat. Powerful and extremely acidic as it warmed. No clue where this will go in the future. Previous reviews are spot on, just don't agree with the scores.

the aromatics on this were wild. Is banana a fault? Not in this wine. Differences of opinion on whether it was banana pudding, taffy or runts. Nice mouth feel. Not too much alcohol, or it hid it well. Best Naucratis yet, for me anyway.

Popped and poured..served around 45F. Extremely intense nose, key lime, banana, honeydew, citrus flower, lemon zest, limestone, slate. On the palate huge fruit, key lime, melon, lemon, apple, salt, and big time minerality. Tremendous acidic finish with a little bit of heat which brings the score down a little for me. Absolutely different from anything I ever tried. I think that this will be better with age. It seems like it would be better after it integrates. Outstanding with a little bit of upside. Drink of hold. Value....are you kidding?? At $20 this is amazing.

I was the first one to arrive at the restaurant so I poured myself a glass and sat with it for 20 minutes or so in deep contemplation before the next person arrived. This wine is simply intoxicating! The first thing I notice is the very light clean color which is atypical of most Scholium whites. Then an exotic aroma of fresh sea air and banana taffy erupt from the glass. Based on the lighter color and exotic aromas I expect this to be lighter on the palate. Yet, the initial impression on the palate is schockingly intense and loaded with minerality. As I sit with this wine I realize it has multiple personalities – it has a light and exotic bouquet but then it has a cocky and arrogant mouth feel. Ample amounts of acidity and minerality. Extremely long-penetrating finish. Saline characteristics. With air the wines continues to evolve and beguile with a nutty trait then a Jamón Serrano like trait. This wine is simply thrilling and a joy to drink…

Scholium Project and Cote-Roties at Il Corso (Il Corso, NY): This is just absurd. Absolutely crazy nose with a ton of honeydew melon, tropical fruit and bright floral notes with an intense minerality that makes you wonder whether a rock quarry somehow got put through the press along with the grapes. Explosive fruit flavours on the palate with an intensity and power that brings Zind-Humbrecht to mind and an incredible dynamic mouthfeel that's liquid velvet for the first few sips before the minerality suddenly kicks in to the point that it feels more solid than liquid with shards of metal and rocks grinding in the back of the mouth. Finishes very long with perfect balance - a shock to see the label and find out this is 16.3% alcohol! A really amazing, unique experience (and my WOTN).

A very interesting wine that deserves the high scores, well built and well in intrigated, you wouldnt guess
the 16,3%.

My Birthday (Palate Food + Wine): Like bottled joy, a blast of citrus fruit salad erupts both on the nose and palate. Extra points for just being delicious at a price that lets you indulge whenever you like.
