  • No real notes tonight, but a very nice and well made wine, with a great qpr.
    Fine everyday drinker.
Very much like my note from 5 years ago, but more developed and with more secondary notes present.
    Cherries, earth, leather and herbs.
    Well worth the money.

  • This was a really nice surprise, indeed.
Bought a couple of bottles up on release, and tucked away a few to see what would happen.
A brilliant move it seems, as this wine really showed great tonight.
First few bottles drunk back when purchased was really easy going and straight forward, fruit driven and easy going.
Very fine nose, with red berries, fine wood, cedar, loads of lovely green Italian herbs, spices, Tuscan earth, touch of licorice and cough medicine.
    Complex and deep.
    Palate was equally fine.
Deep fruit, mature, fine and complex, with good grip, structure and long and silky finish.
    Cool and expressive.
Excellent low priced Tuscan well-made wine, will last and continue to develop another at least 5 years, probably longer.
    Recommended!

  • 30 min decant. Definitely one of my wife's favorite wines for the buck....she is more of a 92 and I'm a 90. I'd say definitely has entered its prime!

  • Probably at peak now. Fine although cork was almost completely soaked (and this bottle required only a short decant, probably as a result). Works well with Spaghetti Bolognese.

  • Still needs a 2 hour decant. Some sediment is present. Not s good as previous bottle. Cork half soaked in red, btw.
Consumed with beef and vegetable lasagne. Probably needs something even more substantial, beef stew or a steak.

  • drinking very nicely - I was quite happy with this blend, despite giving it no time to open up due to having it at a byob. nice fruit and good finish.

  • 70% Sangiovese. The remaining 30% is a mix of Cabernet, Merlot, and Cab Franc.
Decanted. It does need at least an hour or so to mellow and come together, very satisfying result after a 90-120 min... but do give it a try before this; the Cabernet Franc dominates in the first 15 minutes. It is still there after 90 minutes but now it is a part of a more complex array of flavours.
It can be drunk now (with a 90 min decant) and will probably perform well in the next few years. I will probably sample the remaining 5 bottles once a year until 2018.
It's a very decent wine but not quite as nice as the Carmignano Riserva from the same producer (the 2004 Riserva is very impressive and ready now though it does need an hour to wake up).

  • I didn't decant since I was afraid that it would accentuate the oak. In a way I was right, and in a way wrong ...
First glass, served with filet de boeuf, jerusalem artichoke, root celery and potatoes from the oven togetter with a buttery sauce based on Marsala, is quite oaky. 70% sangiovese tastes more like a 100% bordeaux, with cassis, a tad coffee, some tar and a feeling of cigarbox. It works well with the food though, even though I am a bit disappointed. But the second glass travels to Tuscany in rapid speed - the cassis get's lighter and more cherry-like, the coffee disappears, acidity is lovely, fine tannin structure, nice and light asian spice mingling with a herbal tone. Together with some parmigiano it's really lovely. This is still quite young, but I see a certain risk of it turning into cherry Coke down the road. My remaining bottle will be gone soon.

  • Very nice and firm wine. Still enough life for another 5 years at least.
Still quite tannic, and confirm with other commenters about the pencil lead and cherry. Sangiovese is the backbone, but gets noticeable help from the C abernet.
Serious wine, that I picked up at a local wineshop during a stay in Tuscany in 2010 for around 14 EUROS. I gladly give it 90 points.

  • Very well made and with good sangiovese character that doesn't get lost behind the cabernet, etc. in the blend. This was a very satisying and all together tasty bottle of wine, of the basis of which I'll start looking for the 2007.

  • Served it as a blínd one.
Worked well, got votes for languedoc...
To me a it is a very decent supertuscan. Fruit and leather. But still if you wander into the price/quality section. Well. I would expect 90 for that price.
    Still, worth waiting for.

  • This wine shows a ruby red color in the glass with aromas of black cherry, lavender and herbs, lead pencil and just the right amount of toasty oaky. On the palate I found juicy blackberry with a citrus twinge, followed by cedar on a well structured frame with balanced acidity. Citrus and sour cherry show on the medium long finish.

  • What a surprise since I picked this up after reading a brief article on Carmignano and thought to taste one. Amazing nose that reads like a basket of red fruit. First it's raspberry, then wild berries and then cherry cough drops followed up by cedar and saddle leather. The palate reveals sour cherries, creme fraiche and clove. Medium body with wonderfully brisk acidity and a nice long red berry finish.

  • Då ramlade man dit igen då, 90 poängare under 250 bagare låter ju alltid bra. Schysst för de stålarna men ingen kanon, nått saknas...partner in crime kanske, frugan gravid igen, så nått bollplank finns inte att räkna med på ett tag.

  • 70% sangiovese give this supertoscan a pleasant stucture. Smell of cherries and oak, good acidity, Concentrated and long taste.
