14.4% ABV. 3 barrels produced according to the label. Splash decanted and consumed. Dark garnet opaque in the glass. Sweet oak initially on the nose followed by a streak of something like a combination of mint and anise. Medium full bodied with black currant fruit. Finishes again with the herbal mint streak. Aromatically, this reminds me a lot of some of the Bordeaux varieties put out by Audelssa and Sojourn, both of which I think come from vineyards generally in the vicinity of Bugay, but I don't know if I'm sensing terroir or just similar styles of wine making (I believe both Audelssa and Sojourn are made by the same winemaker, so some similarities might be expected anyway). This is nicely made, but may not have universal appeal. Better integrated (less overt oak) than when I tasted it in June '09, but no rush to drink.

Sonoma-Napa Trip Day 1; 6/25/2009-6/26/2009 (Sonoma): Includes some Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Nice aromatics of charcoal oak, minerals. Deeply colored nearly opaque. Rich black currant. Slightly chewy tannin. Nice.

A bit flat, although mediocre glassware could have contributed
