This has taken a good bit of time to come around. Bright garnet colored with hints of orange; deep red and dark cherry fruit, soil inflection yet fresh on the palate. Nicely balanced. Just going secondary.

Browning color but less oxidation on the nose and palate than one would guess... advanced profile and the tannins have certainly outlasted the fruit but it wasn't completely out of balance to drink. Definitely some savor and length with fortunately about the right amount of acidity. Unadorned terroir expression drinks like old bones even though it's not really that old. But it drank fine for a bottle with some minuses.

Delicate nose of strawberry, cranberry and stony minerality. Clean palate and high in acidity. Slightly austere with a tight mouthfeel despite 3 hours of decant. Score's for the nose.

Decanted for 30 minutes before drinking. Cherries and mushrooms on the nose. Bright acidity and light, fine tannin. Tastes of earth, mushroom, and a slight hint of oak dominate the palate with underlying fruit. As previous notes mention, the wine was quite hollow on the midplate, but this did improve somewhat as he wine got a few hours of air. The wine seemed a little thin and watery.

Initial aromas (from riedel bdx) blackberry liqueur , a bit unbloomed. now blooming... a hint of pure vanilla. muskiness. Kirk's glass was way more fragrant than mine... the bdx stems seem a major handicap for pinots (and kirk and doug agree - beaujolais and musar as well)
Taste round 1: softer, more feminine on the palate than the Nuits-st-george. Gorgeous, almost florally sensuous. With beautiful acidity and tannins that creep out at the end. A swirl of perfumed fruit, subtly blended, as if the winemaker did a cepage of scents, rather than grapes. A bit reductive. which is what gives me pause... 88-92
Taste round 2: sort of soft, a little hollow, not really doing it for me, but good acidity. sort of dips in the midpalate. good but not great. 85-7

From a 375ml. 4th for Palate and 3rd for Nose in a group of four.
Color: Ruby
Smell: smoked meat notes, red cherry, hint of cigar box. A slightly nervy and lithe nose that seems almost lean and reserved...like a flower that is about to bloom. Later this becomes much more perfumed and floral; yet, almost dark and musky like the sweat off a finely tones female athlete's body after a six-mile run.
Taste: snap peas, green banana, kumkuat, cranberries, pomegranate.
Overall: The nose is so interesting...but there is a dip in the mid-palate that leaves me almost shocked as it is so sudden. It will be interesting to see where this wine is later in time...

Hard edged with high toned cherry and cranberry, teeth coating tannins, and high acidic tang. Not as easy to drink as the Gevrey Chabertin and will take much longer time in the cellar to be ready. A bit chalky and thin. Long blossoming finish. B-
